( @mushishitposter tumblr is being weird rn and i cant reply as easily as usual so i just took a screnshot)
I actually disagree with that interpretation. If theres one thing Orleans is pretty clear on imo, its that Jeanne Alter does not actually represent the real Jeanne in any way.
Throughout the entire chapter, her identity as “Evil Jeanne” is questioned by everyone, even giving the protagonist an opportunity to declare her a fake right after you meet her for the first time in a dialogue box. Jeanne herself doesn’t seem to be threatened, or in denial of what Jalter says, just utterly confused. From the very start she can’t recognize any of herself in that person, which plays into the finale where she says that any dark side of her would likely be motivated by the childhood memories that Jalter doesn’t even have.
Its different from Shirou and Archer, for example, where Archer strikes right at the heart of Shirou’s insecurities and doubts in a way he cant really refute. In the end Jeanne herself declares to Marie that she loved her people too much to resent them the way Jalter claims. Thats a little unrealistic perhaps, but it makes sense for a catholic saint and for the character.
I didn’t talk about Jalter in my Orleans post mainly bc im not fond of her. I feel like the only thing that was going through type moon’s heads when creating her was:
( as in ”hey guys lets make a ~sexy~ evil version of jeanne d arc, all the male players will go nuts for corrupted waifu”)
But by the end of the story i really did come to pity her. Having her always be reliant on Giles was a great way of foreshadowing how she was secretly his twisted creation. I felt bad that she was unable to escape the role he had given her and died without ever learning the truth.
It would be interesting seeing her trying to define her own role or life for herself. As anyone whose looked into my kingdom hearts tag will know, clones trying to deal with the fact that they are clones, and figure out their own personhood, is something i love. So if her my room lines and character bits go into that, i might be a little interested in her, but i still find it ridiculous that she was later added to the gacha. She’s not even a real servant, she’s not actually Jeanne’s dark side, she’s just seems blatantly there to be fanservice.

I think I was able to find everything of your analyses and meta I wanted to save on my computer. So, you don’t need to worry about waiting on me to delete it. Also, just wondering, were you also going to delete your Euler’s Identity Crisis/I Accidentally the Timeline blog?
Also also, if I may, I wanted to gently nudge you to at least not delete some of your more “normal/typical” (as in, it doesn’t really get into the math meta/reflection stuff) analyses. Specifically, these are what I’m referring to (ironically, it’s some of your oldest stuff):
One Two Three Four Five Six Seven Eight
I think they’ve held up really well. In particular, I absolutely love your write-up of Tsubasa. I actually just went back and re-read it, and I gleaned a couple things about her character from it that I wasn’t able to wrap my head around when I first read it way back when, in large part because I didn’t really understand Monogatari’s “apparitions-as-metaphors” thing very well, in addition to not having any kind of grasp of how metaphorical/symbolic imagery actually works (this still gives me some trouble, TBH) and just...it taking me quite a while to begin to really parse and understand her character better.
Despite my nudging, I completely understand if you just don’t want any of it around anymore. :)
