Okay hands down. something is off with the moonvale mini games. badly. i love match-3 games and i have never played a game where it is that hard. isn't it supposed to be a story based game and not a "be stuck in the same level for 3 hours loser" game? i get that some levels are supposed to be challenging but even the easy ones are hard. either everbyte sucks at programming mini games but then... why were they able to do it in duskwood on a perfect level? are they trying to drag out the episodes?
Yeah, sadly, the mini games are still a topic that gets criticized a lot. And I'm absolutely on that side, the mini games are a pain. I don't want to accuse Everbyte of anything, I don't know what they're thinking about the Mini Games. But for me personally, and for many others too, it just looks very much like they are trying to drag the episode out longer, through the Mini Games. Which is very sad.
I've said it before a couple of times. The length of the episode was perfectly fine. We had four hours pure game time. And two more were only mini games. And we don't need that necessarily. I can understand that Everbyte wants to do it like that because the waiting time for episodes is long. And the problem is, that when they really make the episodes shorter, people might also use that against them again. If you're in a public eye it's just so hard to navigate because some people will always find something to hate on. And I understand that Everbyte tries to keep that as low as possible. Especially after the criticism they got for episode 1. But in the end, we still find the mini games topic to be... unfortunate. I'm one of them.
Those mini games are so damn hard and take so long. And this would be another thing I could live it, but then comes the amount of mini games. 10 minutes play, which isn't that much on itself due to pace of the chat... But then 4 mini games. For 10 more minutes chat. It's just a bit disappointing, to be honest.
The mini games, in the most cases, would already be easier if they would give us two more moves. Of course not with every level. But if you have to do three things at then same time; destroy ice, destroy stone and collect 50+ green leaves? Mostly the moves are just not enough. And then you have to decide if you use your gems for 5 more moves. But that happens in so many levels that you would basically have to use 20 gems just to be able top finish 3 mini games. And there we have the next problem then. Because not everyone can buy the premium package. Not everyone has the chance to pay so they see everything in the game. So they have to decide if they can use gems for mini games or if they can't because then they can't unlock all media etc. And that's... bad. So yes, sadly, there is something wrong with the mini games. Or at least with the concept of them. And they are so much harder than in Duskwood. And you're absolutely right, in Duskwood this managed that so well and here, sadly, it's still not perfect.
I undersrand that Everbyte needs to earn more money now. That they need to get money for the time and skills they invest in the game. But if that is the right way?
But anyway, that a different topic again. As I said, for me, I would be finde with only five hours play time, thats more than enough to me. And most people replay the episodes anyway.
I really hope trey will work on the mini game concept again, as they said they would. At least when it comes to the designs. But when they are at it... let's hope they will change a few things more.
I'm sorry you're having so much trouble with playing them. It's so frustrating. Especially when you play right when it's out. You wanna finish it because you wanna know everything, because you maybe don't want to get spoilered and because you want to talk about it with others.
The mini games can really destroy that a bit. But it is as it is with everything else, we can only hope and wait. <3
