Mini mini prompt. Matteo coming home and David is wearing his stuff because he missed him?
Ah anon, you made my day. This was a delightful prompt to receive, and it ended up not-so-mini in the end but here it is.
It’s cold, one of those bleak mid-winter evenings when it’s dark early and everything seems bathed in a cloak of misery. Puddles lie on all the street corners and the streetlights do little to illuminate the gloom, even with the strong white-bright glare they give off. Rain sleets down in icy sheets, making dull splashes as it hits the ground. It’s persistent enough to dampen even the sturdiest shoes, and Matteo’s feet already feel soaked through in his flimsy sneakers.
He’s hunched up inside his warmest jacket, but even so the occasional drip slips down behind his collar, trailing damp tendrils along his neck. He snuffles, wipes his nose with the back of his hand in a vain attempt to get rid of some of the dampness on his face, and glances upwards. A drop manages to hit him on the eyelash, sticking several strands together in an uncomfortable way. Grimacing, Matteo pushes forward.
All he wants is to be home. Where it’s warm and dry and where hopefully David has cooked something at least semi-decent. Matteo allows himself the smallest snort at that thought. David never has been the biggest fan of cooking, and he does tend to avoid it if at all possible. Still, a man can dream, and Matteo is all about making the journey home as pleasant as he can. The idea of David waiting at the end of this long trek home makes the journey feel less shitty and Matteo will take all the comfort he can get, even if it’s an unlikely fantasy he’s living.
After another ten minutes of trudging, he pushes the door to their building open finally, breathing a long sigh of relief as it bangs closed behind him, shutting out both the rain and the wind that had started to spring up in the final few blocks. He blows on his fingers as he mounts the stairs, only now becoming aware of how freezing they are.
“Helloooo,” he calls once he reaches their home and pushes into the entrance.
He’s embraced by a golden glow, the lamps David insists on using in preference to glaring overhead lights a welcome sight after the gloom Matteo’s been making his way home through. The place is warm, something does smell good in the direction of the kitchen, and he can feel his shoulders losing their hunch as he shucks off his damp jacket and hangs it in the hallway alongside David’s.
The sight of their things so casually inhabiting the same space makes Matteo smile. It’s new enough, this living together thing, that he always smiles when he sees their things mixed up together. It always reminds him of how far he’s come, how much he’s gained in such a short time.
“Hey!” David calls, his voice cheerful, a cosy note which helps to shut out the unpleasant last half-hour even more.
Matteo sits on the short bench which runs down the hallway under their coat rack, fingers shaking as he tries to wrestle the laces on his shoes. They’re so wet that it’s hard to coax them apart, allowing David to come out into the hallway before Matteo's even done with the first one.
He feels David’s arms around him well before he’s finished, and he breathes in, relishing the feeling of those strong arms holding him. As shitty as the walk home can be, it’s always better once he’s home. He leans his head on David’s shoulder and sighs.
“I missed you,” he mutters.
There was a time when he’d be embarrassed to admit something like that, a time when he’d try to keep his feelings tight into his chest, but since meeting David it feels easy and natural to say these things. It’s been easy to become more open and able to show how he’s truly feeling. David’s arms tighten briefly in acknowledgement, but he huffs out a laugh against Matteo’s hair.
“I did not miss you,” he says, pulling back to stand up and look down at Matteo’s face. “You’re soaking wet, and messing with my style.”
Matteo rolls his eyes, kicking out with his foot and eliciting a yelp and a wince from David. It makes him dance back to avoid the follow up kick Matteo always does. That allows Matteo to properly take in his boyfriend for the first time since arriving home.
“Your style, huh?” he asks, running a finger down the arm of the hoodie David is wearing. “I think this is actually mine, and those pants look familiar too, soooo… you mean my style, right?”
David snorts again, looking down at the top, and shrugs. “It’s mine now.”
“Just admit it,” Matteo says, feeling the grin growing on his face. “You’re only wearing that stuff because you missed me, rain and all.”
David purses his lips, and Matteo knows him well enough by now to know he’s trying to avoid admitting Matteo’s right, his competitive nature rebelling against the idea of Matteo winning this small word-scuffle. But there’s a fond smile hovering in his eyes which belies the attempt.
Matteo reaches out to take David’s hand, overwhelmed in the moment. He’s sitting here in their reasonably cramped hallway, still damp, his socks soaked through and his feet still feeling the cold. By all rights he shouldn’t be feeling this mushy joy, and yet here he is. It’s warm, David is radiating heat, there are delicious smells coming from the kitchen, and even if David won’t say it, Matteo knows. He did miss him; he’s wearing that hoodie and those pants because it made him feel closer to Matteo.
David gets it, the way he usually does. He plops down onto the bench again, squeezing Matteo into the corner in a way that should be uncomfortable, but his other hand has found Matteo's cheek, and he’s smiling.
“I did,” he says, just before leaning in to kiss Matteo, a brief welcome-home peck. “I missed you, even though you’re cold and wet and your hair is a sopping mess. Even though you’re messing up my style.”
Grinning into another kiss, Matteo revels in the idea that they both feel the same way. They may show it differently, they may tease and prank each other whenever possible, but underneath it all this remains: they feel better and happier when they are together and they find ways to keep the other with them when they can’t be in the same place. And in the end, that’s all that matters.
I mainly use these procreate brushes! As you can see 1 and 2 are basically the same, main difference is the texture, rn now I tend to choose second just bc I like the softer look of it, but I like 1 one just as much for the cleaner and sharper look. I draw with the third if I can’t be bothered with dynamic stroke and the 4th just looks cool. I do everything with the same brush, and if I feel the need for some additional textures I go through all of the brushes procreate has and choose what feel right for that particular piece
1,3,4 are default and the 2 is from this Jason pack (examples: 1 2 3 4)
You once asked for tiny prompts and yes it was some time ago but back then I had nothing.
Here is a tiny prompt.
Matteo and David are about to marry and it is tradition to not be allowed to see your partner before the wedding (where I live there is this tradition at least) and so they are forced the spend the night apart.
And both realize how fucking hard it is. To sleep without the other. To not cuddle.
So David calls Matteo? Or something like that. Because this is not ok of their friends.
Something stupid like that?
Here you are, anon! I hope it fits the bill. I did change up a few details, but hopefully that doesn't detract too much from the ideas 💜 💙 💜
Their friends are fucking assholes, Matteo decides. He first decided that just before midnight when Jonas bustled into his room, confiscating his phone and banishing David to Laura’s home. Oh, back then, it was a cheerful, chuckling, “asshole,” that slipped out as Matteo snorted fondly at the antics. Back then, the idea of you can’t see each other on your wedding day seemed like a quaint, harmless tradition that they may as well honour. They had spent plenty of days apart, after all. This isn’t even all that unusual. It was just normal level assholishness from his boys, and Matteo could deal with that.
Except that it feels different today. Today, Matteo has a real need to see David. Because it’s all becoming real, it’s all coming alive in a way Matteo hadn’t expected. And it turns out that the only person he wants to share this moment, and this feeling, with is David. So now he’s in a pickle. Jonas has his phone; he’d ostentatiously tucked it in under his own pillow as he went to bed in the lounge, laughing about how Matteo might try to steal it back. They’d giggled a lot about the idea, mocking any suggestion that Matteo couldn’t handle one night away from David.
And it’s not that he can’t handle it. That’s not the problem, not really. But Matteo wants to share the moments of realisation, the knowledge that they’re starting a new chapter of their lives. He wants to share these late night thoughts with David. As stupid as it is, today feels new and amazing and like they should be together to revel in it. Besides. He misses the sleepy, nighttime cuddles. It’s been so long since Matteo had to sleep without David, that the light and breezy, “of course we can sleep apart, no big deal,” was easy to say when the boys had first suggested the idea. Because in the past, they had been able to.
But here and now, when it’s a few hours into a long, lonely night, it doesn’t feel so light and breezy. The bed is too big, too wide, too open. It sucks. He needs to at least hear David, if he’s awake. His phone is on silent usually, so it can’t do any harm trying to call. If he’s awake, he’ll pick up and Matteo can hear his voice finally. If he’s asleep, he won’t notice so it won’t matter.
So Matteo slips his feet to the floor, tiptoes on quiet feet into the lounge room where Jonas, Abdi and Carlos are all piled like puppies on and around the couches. He sucks in a breath, willing his heartbeat to steady as he makes his way to Jonas to try to retrieve the phone that’s been hidden under his fluffy, enveloping pillow. A floorboard creaks, the sound startlingly loud in the hushed quiet of the night. Jonas snuffles and Carlos makes a strange honking sound as he turns in his sleep, pulling his pillow over his ears as if to drown out the sudden noise.
Matteo’s heart rate picks up again, and he half thinks about going back to bed and forgetting about it. But he’s desperate. He needs to hear David’s voice, so he continues his mission. Jonas’s head is firmly planted on the pillow, and Matteo hisses out a sharp sigh of disappointment. His head is so close to the edge of the pillow that there’s no way to get the phone without disturbing him.
He’s about to go back to his bed, ready to stew in his own hopeless despair over not being able to contact David, when he spies his phone. It’s been laid out neatly on the small table next to the couch Jonas is using. There’s a small sticky note on it, written in Jonas’s forceful handwriting.
This thing wouldn’t shut up, so I’m leaving it here in case you’re as bad as he is, it reads and Matteo's lips twitch upwards. So David’s been trying to contact him, as well. His heart surges at this new proof that they really are in tune with each other. He grabs the phone and slips back into his own room with it.
He reads the long list of messages, his smile growing with each one. It’s a long litany of all the same sorts of thoughts Matteo’s been having.
I know you can’t talk, one reads, but I need to tell you how amazing today is. I get to marry you. Today.
I wish I could hear your voice, another says. I need to pinch myself (or maybe you) to make sure it’s real.
And on they go. Each one is a small connection, proving that David is thinking of him too. The last one was sent just minutes ago.
Taking a breath, already feeling lighter, Matteo initiates a call. They may not be able to see each other, but there’s no reason they can’t have this. He lets out a small sigh of relief when he hears the, “hey,” on the other end and hears the smile in David’s voice.
i saw your art of steve and 5up and it’s so cute and it inspired a little fic idea, and i was wondering if you’d be cool with me writing it 👉🏻👈🏻 no worries if not, just thought i’d check in with you first :) hope you’re having a great day!
yoo, go for it!! It's not like I came up with scenario on my own, they talked about it on stream I just visualized it ✌
Ah, anon. How did you know I was just itching to talk about Skam again? I'm sure 100 people have 100 different ideas about this, but this is where I sit:
1. s3. It's just very self-contained, you know? Even if it didn't deal with the specific topics that are most appealing to me, I think this would be my favourite one. It is eminently watchable as its own thing, making complete sense by itself. Now, that's partly because we deal more with the boy squad and it's quite separated from the girls and so it's not really necessary to have a wider picture. Plus, Isak has isolated himself quite a lot, apart from Sana and even with her it's not actually necessary to have 'met' her before to enjoy her role in the season. Fun fact: I watched s3 first out of all of them and I fell for Sana well before I fell for any of the other characters, even Isak and Even. Bonus for this season: no William. I think it would win on that alone.
2. s1 It's a lovely introduction to the show, and I love the way we gather up our girl squad. I also like how refreshing it is that 'breaking up' is seen as a viable option in this situation. It's nice sometimes to see a 'good' ending for a character that is not hinged on finding and/or keeping 'the one' - so it's sad that they pushed back on that in s4, but eh. It still stands in this season. Plus, Eva is a great character and I love her and the way she interacts with all her new friends. William content is already too high, though.
3. It's a tie - s2 and s4. I honestly can't choose which one of these I would rank lowest. S4 had a lot of potential, but it tanked roughly around the Syng scene (I remember being super super worried after that scene and hoping I was wrong about where it was heading - spoiler, I was not wrong and it sucked). I really dislike the way William and Noora's story intruded onto the season, and in a lot of ways it felt like Sana's story was shunted sideways just so we could go over (again!!!) all of their things. I stopped watching about when Sana tried reaching out to the girl squad and they turned their backs on her and the only one who would talk to her was Chris. I know people loved the 'los losers' scene but it felt unearned and rushed to me after the rejection and I basically didn't watch any more of the season apart from the other characters' clips in the last episode (except William). On that note - keeping Yousef away at the end and stealing one of her episodes to give to other characters (when her story was not at all resolved properly) will always sit badly with me. In a lot of ways I think it had too much going on, too many plots and often some things didn't make any sense in connection with each other. Definitely too much William.
S2 on the other hand, is just all about how horrifying I find William and in particular the way he effectively gaslights Noora and we're supposed to see it as romantic. Also, the way he blames her for the crap his asshole brother pulls. I don't like the whole 'he was right all along and even if he wasn't, we have to forgive him because of some stuff in his family life' - no, no no no no no. He was an asshole and nothing we found out changed that; he didn't learn or grow and all that happened to Noora was that she regressed from a cool character and she never recovered her spark or fire. Plus it was farrrrrrr too long and many of the episodes went on for much too long. I remember opening one, seeing it was almost an hour long and losing the will to live. Waaayyyyy too much William, of course. If s4 didn't have all the problems it does, this one would 'win' the last spot hands down just by virtue of so much William.
Loving your time-traveler Even fic! Really a blast from my past Whovian days, the setting of the fic is so reminiscent for me and I love seeing Isak and Even in that environment. The crossover I never knew I needed! Haven't caught up in the Skam fandom in a while and all these new fics are almost overwhelming, I don't know where to begin! Might you have any recs by chance? Need something to keep me busy while I wait for updates on yours 😁
Ah, anon, this is super sweet. And tbh, time traveler Even is very much influenced by my love for Eleven (my fave Doctor so far). I'm so glad you're enjoying him too!
As for fic recs - I am finding reading so many very overwhelming myself so I'm mostly waiting til they are done to read (and even then I'm behind, whoops). However, there are a couple I'm following and a few finished ones that I did read. So, as a very preliminary thing and bearing in mind this list will almost certainly grow as more get finished, here are a couple I have enjoyed or am enjoying:
1. A Chemical Phenomenon by Kapplebougher (unfinished as yet, rated T). I am super biased here because I am beta reading it and because I've been cheerleading this fic for literal years. But I stand by the fact that it's simply fabulous. Grumpy and closed-off Isak and sunshine and cheerful Even bond together over a shared class. And there's SO much more than that!
2. Seasons (Waiting on you) by Minilocisland/Irazor (unfinished as yet, rated E). I will admit I have fallen behind on this one a little, but where I read to it was beautiful and really manages to capture that sense of a summer holiday spot and all the promise and fragility which comes along with that, particularly when it's your actual home and you have to watch others coming and going. Throw in some childhood friends and it hits all my buttons.
3. Strangers by anaisanais (one shot, rated E). Gorgeous sense of a meeting on one long day of promise and fulfilment, and of Pride and everything that can feel like. Following along as the day builds is so much fun, and the two of them meeting and hanging together works so very well. The setting and the chemistry are both great and it really feels like a beautiful, shining day.
4. I need an easy friend by Treehouse (finished, rated E). Lovely look into what happens when you have certain rules around how you live your life and someone comes along and makes you break them. Trying to navigate a 'no feelings' agreement while breaking those rules makes for a fun read.
