where to post beautiful images of my boy and not get overlooked <///3
there is a central sort of headcanon i have when it comes to edwin that really informs the way i view/write him, and it's this concept that he feels incredibly disconnected from being human. it's why most of what i write is edwin, in some way or another, reconnecting with being, or even feeling, human. and all the complexities that come with that. (it's what the writers were really only beginning to tap into with him, and what i wished we could have seen more of what they wanted to do, but i digress.)
i think he both feels like, and actually is in so many ways, a completely different person to who he was when he was alive. obviously just through the fact of, you know [gestures at 70+ years in hell.] and it's extended to this point wherein he no longer feels human. i've explained this once as: if handed a form to fill out where there was an area to check off your "Species" and the options were Human or Ghost, edwin would have zero hesitation in checking off ghost. (where i think charles, for example, would seriously struggle about what to choose, but againn i digress.)
i just see him as being so different from who he was when he was alive, it's something i don't think he's totally aware of, but it's there. and nothing exemplifies this more to me than these shots from ep 1.
like. this is just not the same person. it just isn't. (and for what it's worth, i think that is okay. no one is "the same" for the entirety of their life, change is inevitable, etc, etc.) but it's just in the way he holds himself. and maybe there's something to be said that the edwin on the right is someone who isn't being perceived (and hasn't been perceived by anyone alive) for decades upon decades and the edwin on the left feels entirely too perceived by everyone and everything around him. there's a confidence change, as well (but that feels obvious.) the right edwin is deeply aware of his own power,(the next thing right edwin does is goes and traps a cat to get information he needs for his case.) the left edwin would never snap at charles (or anyone) the way right edwin just did. i personally don't think the edwin on the left would ever have spoken up against anyone or anything. i don't think he ever would have spoken his mind the way we know edwin does. i don’t think he knew how smart he was. i really don’t think he knew his own strengths, to be honest. (which, to be fair to him i don’t think any 16 year old knows all of that about themselves quite yet, and left edwin is more 16 than the edwin on the right will ever be again.)
and that isn't to say that these edwins didn’t think similarly, or talk similarly, or that left edwin is nothing like the edwin on the right. there are, of course, throughlines to every person. (like we are told through this flashback that edwin has always loved detective stories!!) these changes really are to me just in the way he presents himself, his confidence, the way he moves within his own world. the way he perceives himself, too. and not to be Girl Who Won’t Stop Talking About Edwin’s Family (but lets be real, i am) i just think if anyone who ever knew left edwin ever met the edwin we know, they wouldn’t recognise him at all. they would know his face, sure, but they wouldn’t know him. (but let’s be honest, i doubt they ever did in the first place.)
Feeling INSANE about Eddie Diaz
In this reunion, Sakura and Nirei seek to break through the facade of coldness Suolingo tries to maintain through indifference. They aim to force him to admit that he cares about them—his friends—and about Furin, preventing him from simply vanishing into his own darkness. The Furin trio will fight, cry, and reconcile in the way only delinquents know how: by settling things with their fists and brutal honesty.
