also i just have to appreciate the forethought that went into the ending. like extinction isn’t over. you didn’t save the day, not in the way most games end. mass catastrophes will still happen in the future. extinction will still occur in the future. nature is an undeniable force

but it’s the thought that extinction isn’t the end that is both unique and brings hope instead. there’s always another horizon. extinction is a beginning for something new and even when humanity does finally end, life will still continue. is it a sad thought? sure. it’s difficult to image our own ending and that everything we see now will one day be gone. humans don’t like thinking about that. it’s why we’ve created religion. this idea that we never really will end

but in Death Stranding, the end is the beginning for something new. something you can’t be a part of, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be celebrated and it doesn’t mean we should simply fizzle out and die with a whimper.
