Which Fanfic Journal is Best? (even though I already picked one)
So I had a black-page journal that I used for 'fanfic journaling'. Writing fic notes/ideas/hopes, remarking on a writing session or just making random collages. That book is now A) a precious heirloom to me now, and B) one page from being full!! So I must start a new one.
Actually I kinda already decorated and started using the right-hand one bc it arrived in the mail much faster, even though I wanted the left one first now I'm like hrrrrmmm
LEFT: black, thick pages in a softcover bound book, just like the previous fic journal. I'm kinda attached to that 'format'. Writing on black pages was a fun creative challenge sometimes, irritating other times
RIGHT: a ringbound book makes me feel classier idk. Much more freedom with writing tools/can use pencils! But the pages are thinner (they're beige + lined) and that thinness is annoying. But like....I already started using it bc the black one took 3 weeks to arrive! I do have duplicates of all those stickers so I could re-create the cover and even glue the 2 beige pages I've filled into the black book if I wanted...
And for reference, here's a few pages from the completed black page journal to show the type of stuff I'll be putting in this future journal:

After Dedication
Having a moment of such clear self-realization and feeling ready for it can make you feel invincible- like you're going through rebirth even. It's so easy to forget that there will be moments where it seems that things have come to a standstill, and you'll have to pull yourself out of it. You're the only one that can.
I know I'm ready deep down, and that moving forwards will be life-changing for me in all the right ways. I want to do the things I know will help me grow and move forward, but I also don't want to do them at all. I feel in my heart of hearts that I'm ready, but something in my subconscious tries to sabotage that, tells me not to commit to change because, "There's always tomorrow". The more I listen to that voice, the further "tomorrow" feels away from me and the less capable I feel to change anything.
Weeks ago, I was bathed in the healing waters of the Moon, and my soul set ablaze with flames of rebirth as I contentedly, confidently watched my towers crumble. I anticipated always having this flame, this burning inside- to be able to weild it with calm bravery in the face of my shadows, in the name of growth, of soulfire, of connection to all I am passionate for in life. Yet with passion must come commitment to help it bear fruit. The last two weeks, I've felt that I've stumbled into a void.
Self love (and the things you do to create, support and apply it) is a choice that must be consciously made every day. It's whatever effort you can muster even on days you think you have nothing to give yourself. It's holding yourself and allowing those tears to be recognized. It's finding ways to tell yourself every day, "I see you, and I love you, and I support you on this journey". It's reminding yourself of just how important this is to you, how you're the only one that can manifest it for you, and that you deserve it.
I am my own lighthouse. I only see the light I emit when it's right in front of me, but it's always there. I can be my own safe place, my own muse of motivation and passion. I need no tangible source of light, or drive to be able to grow, for I am my own light, fire, sun. My soul is it's own moonlit temple where I can go to heal and cleanse and nurture myself. This all resides within me, whether I feel it or not, whether I am feeling connected to it or not. That inner strength and knowledge alone is enough to tell me 'I can' when distant shadows try to tell me I can't.
In the name of self love, of active engagement with my life, of closing this chapter to weave and scribe my story onwards, I will walk into the unknown holding my own hand. I will water myself even when I think I'm in the dark and I'll bloom anyway. Self-empowerment, for me, is about is about remembering that I have the ability to transform and flourish within me, even if I don't always feel that power in the moment. Doing things that will enrich my life, being kind to myself, and committing to these things even, and especially in the face of challenge, is self love. Proper food and rest is love. Creating a new routine is love. Allowing your voice to be louder than the voices of your fears or shadows when you say "Yes" is love and empowerment. To practice making healthier, positive choices for yourself and your life- to allow space for progress rather than expecting instant success is love. Reminding yourself of these things and helping yourself believe in them again is to empower yourself, is an act of self love, it is an expression of commitment to positive growth or change.
Today, I choose myself; I choose my future and all that I hope to manifest there. Today I choose to bathe myself in kindness and encouragement. Today I remember that I am capable and deserving, and I allow that to flow through me and channel that as best I can in all I do today.
There’s nothing quite like the feeling of finishing up another journal! Especially one that’s taken you almost 2 years to fill. Honestly, for me, nothing is more grounding or therapeutic than writing out my every thought and feeling, especially when they’re negative ones... And being able to look back on all the good times is pretty great too :)
it doesn’t have to make sense to anyone but me. and if you get it ily. also my journal is getting so thick it’s hard to do any new spreads. i can’t wait to be done with this journal
