Rough Waters
I am but a lamb
when violent waters come
my shepherd saves me
from the destructive impact
that carries others away.

Good Morning!☀
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. Psalm 23: 1-6
If there was anything that King David knew much about it was being a shepherd. It was as a shepherd he got his early training, building his faith as he defended the sheep from predators. Through the time spent out with the flock he learned how to care for the them.
Sheep are peculiar creatures in that they are very dependent on the shepherd for everything they need. They have little natural defence abilty to speak of and require vigilance to keep them safe and secure. They will not drink from a running stream, and will not rest if irritated in the least. Of course they cannot shear themselves when their wool gets too long, and are prone to wandering off from the herd where they are most safe.
When King David wrote "The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want" he was expressing in a sentence the totality of care and protection God provides for us, even as a shepherd does for his sheep. As the shepherd makes sure all the needs of the sheep are met, so the Lord meets all our needs!
