Masterlist
The gloved hand that was stroking their waist oh-so-tenderly, and the other calloused one that gently tilted their chin upwards, couldn’t possibly distract them from the fact that they were being kissed by none other than the man they’d fantasized about for the past nearly 3 years.
Even in their most fanciful dreams, they had never quite imagined the softness of his lips brushing at theirs, barely there at first, before pressing more surely as they melted into the kiss—and his careful embrace. They hadn’t ever dared to picture how his shuddering breath would mingle with theirs, or how his touch burned in its wake, or how his blue eyes would look, darkened as his emotions swept them up altogether.
But there they were, actually kissing Mycroft Holmes, and not a single coherent thought remained in their head.
Stunned, they’d stilled at the start, before his warm lips and the affectionate look on his face completely robbed them of any other thought than to follow his lead. They hadn’t the faintest idea what to do, but to try and kiss him back by mirroring his actions was their best shot.
It felt far too soon when he pulled back, though they could understand that it was done under the guise of propriety. Only when he’d left a few inches of space between them could they finally dare to exhale, though that gave their body enough time to register the fact that their knees had suddenly grown wobbly.
“Oh dear,” they faintly said, stumbling a little as they tried to regain their balance. Mycroft looked a little alarmed, and his fingers fell from their chin while his grip on their waist grew tighter—a fact that only served to make their tummy flutter harder.
“Are you alright?” His deep voice was too near, and too much all at once. They could feel their face burning more with every second that passed, and knew that they must’ve been a rather embarrassing shade of red.
“Yes,” they managed to say, leaning on his rather muscular arm for a few beats, just so they could straighten up. “Yes, I’m only… a little overwhelmed.”
Mycroft frowned at that, an expression it seemed he was so scarcely without—though they, who knew him better than anyone else, knew that to be quite untrue, for they’d seen him smile so gently more than enough times than was good for their heart.
“Have I misread something?” His question was quiet, but direct. “Was this unwanted?”
“No!” they were quick to exclaim, before growing embarrassed by their outburst. “No, it just… you were my first kiss.”
A look of understanding came on his face, before being replaced by one of faint amusement. “Ah.”
“Ah indeed.” They sounded vexed as they brushed the front of their crisp shirt, though that was probably directed at their own self. “I’ve embarrassed myself, haven’t I?”
“Why on Earth would you have?”
Scoffing, they glanced back up from the imaginary flint. “Come now, it was abundantly clear how inexperienced I was. With kissing, I mean.”
“I hadn’t noticed, actually.” At their look of incredulity, Mycroft insisted. “No, really.” He looked painfully awkward for a half-second, before he cleared his throat. “Perhaps it’s because it was my first kiss as well, and I was too… distracted to notice.”
Dumbfounded (and probably even left gaping) by his revelation, they could only splutter out one question. “Uh, you…? I mean, what distraction? That is, what had you distracted?”
Another awkward clearing of the throat. Dark eyes met theirs soon enough, and the hesitation on his face might’ve even been counted as bashfulness. “It might have something to do with the fact that I’d been wanting to do this for quite some time now.”
Lightheaded at yet another shocking revelation, they shakily breathed in, voice coming out smaller than they’d anticipated. “Ah.”
Summery: Sherlocks funeral hit Mycroft a little harder then he expected.
Word count: 521
Warnings: Mention of Sherlocks faked death, nothing else <3
A/N: Hello Darlings! This idea popped into my head earlier and I just had to write it. Thank you all so much for your support! I hope to be publishing the second chapter of Regency soon, so keep an eye out.
Sherlock wasn't dead.
Mycroft knew that,
He had helped plan it all.
Had watched the plane take off.
But to see the funeral…
To look at the name on that grave…
His arrogant little brother.
His perplexing little brother.
His irritating,
Relentless,
impossible,
…Little brother.
You could feel it in the shakiness of his hand as you walked out of the church.
You could see it in his eyes when they lowered the empty coffin into the ground.
But now you could hear it.
It rang out as clear, clean notes on the piano.
Hidden, just out of his sight, in the door to the ballroom, you listened.
With elegant and gentle touches Mycroft played the piano for the first time in years.
You had often asked him to play for you, but he never did.
He had hated the years of lessons he had been forced to endure as a child.
Sherlock had loved them, but Mycroft never quite took to it.
Still, there he sat; eyes closed as he let his memory take over.
It was a beautiful song, with a lovely yet haunting melody.
Somehow it felt unfinished,
Like it was only part of something.
There was a sigh after the last echoes of the notes had faded.
You watched from behind as he took a sip of the scotch in his glass, setting it back down with a heavy hand.
“It's a duet.”
Mycroft's voice startled you out of your trance.
The rasping in his voice gave away his past tears while he stared at the piano.
As you walked closer you gently rested your hand on his shoulders.
He made no move to look at you, preferring the thin veil of privacy it provided him.
Sharing his emotions was not one of his specialties.
“We played it together at my last recital.”
There was a melancholy to his voice.
“Sherlock always hated that I quit playing, held it over me for years.”
Another slow sip of scotch,
“He would send me things at uni. His compositions, things he thought I might enjoy playing.”
You smiled sadly to yourself a bit.
Mycroft was truly sentimental once you really got to know him. He had many very obscured trinkets in his estate. Small things that other people disregarded in favor of the historic paintings, but all had an incredibly important meaning to him.
With a very deliberate hand he opened a leather-bound book that sat on the bench next to him.
Inside were several stapled packets of handwritten sheet music. They are initialed and dated at the top. He looked through, briefly, and pulled one out.
S.H. 1988, age 12
He places it on the piano and begins. With a delicate melody Mycroft plays the expertly composed song.
He began to lose himself in the peace.
Remembering his little brother who, though he wasn't dead, was in an incredibly dangerous situation.
Slowly you backed away, giving Mycroft the space, he needed to process his emotions.
A swell of music followed your ears as you walked into the kitchen to start making a tray of Mycroft's favorite cookies.
probably super reserved and quiet at first but he warks up to the idea of dating you pretty quick
even after he's warmed up to it, it's still very difficult for him to handle the concept
views himself as unloveable and it takes a very long time to convince him otherwise
he's gonna need you to be super supportive and loving
not a big fan of pda, he'll probably only do more intimate pda, like hugging and small kisses on the cheek, around people he's close with, like sherlock and john, but around anyone else he would feel more comfortable doing the simplest forms of pda, like hand holding
super good at gift giving after about a year of dating, for the first year he'll go to john for help, but he'll eventually get the hang of it and, at this point, he's even better than john
will check up on you 24/7
"hello darling, how are you?" "hello darling, do you need anything?""good morning dear, anything i can do for you today?"
a massive fan of low key dates, like coffee shop/cafe dates or walks around the park
on special occasions he'll suprise you with an elaborate picnic
very protective of you, if an enemy so much as mentions your name or poses a threat to you he'll fly off the handle
i'm gonna bet it's probably sherlock's failt that you and mycroft started dating
"hello mycroft" "good morning y/n" "oh for christ's sakes you two just get together already"
it's super obvious to him from day 1, judging by the small smiles that you give eachother, the giddy expressions on both of your faces when the other looks away and the constant excuses to be close to eachother
mycroft is so thankful for sherlock for getting you two together because he physically cannot imagine life without you in it, he can't imagine a life that doesn't involve your smiles, giggles amd hugs
“But he is your best friends brother!”, John hisses after you, very quietly because Sherlock and Mycroft are playing some boardgame in the other room, told him about your crush on the older Holmes brother.
“I knoooooow!”, you sigh.
“But is it my fault he is that fucking handsome?”
“He is not, though!”, John looks at you in shock.
“You know there are people that call him Iceman, don’t you? I wouldn’t think he’d be able to fall for you. I would make a bet on that!”, the words come out so dry, that you know John himself believes them. But not you, you can see there are strong emotions in Mycroft. Yes, he might not want them, but they are there. Angrily you exclaim:
“Well, and I think Mycroft Holmes has already fallen for me, as I have for him!”, you stomp out of the kitchen into the living room where Mycroft is losing.
“Mycroft Holmes!”, you say and step closer.
“Would you go on a date with me?”, he looks up in bewilderness and shakes his head.
“I- What-”, the otherwise confident man stutters.
“Is that a yes?”, you ask impatiently.
“I- okay?”, he smiles.
Hello! May I request a Mycroft x Reader oneshot where the reader is his wife and Mycroft came home from one of his rare trips abroad? Apologize if that’s too specific, I just wanted to give you an idea.
Yes of course I hope this is up to scratch x
.
The grandfather clock chimed once again at the top of the hour. You sat on the sofa huddled in one of Mycroft’s shirts, it smelt just like him a faint scent of rich cologne, baked goods and rain. You placed your cup of tea down onto the glass table it had a nice taste to it but the coldness of the house lowered it’s temperature to a distasteful lukewarm. Indeed the house was cold and lonely without Mycroft, the many rooms made you feel small like you were a mouse in a maze. You picked up a lone book from the shelves screwed to the wall. Another old classic perhaps your favourite kind of book in these times one to bring you right back to your childhood.
.
Your nimble fingers slowly seeped across the pages, tricking your brain back into forgetting your significant other was gone. The end was much predicted the same couldn’t be said about the time though. Five minutes to one in the morning you were partly shocked at yourself. You often stayed up for hours past you should reading page after page, chapter after chapter, book after book feeling each emotion, event and story of every character to grace the papers. It was the one thing that defined you and Mycroft, he was detached, untrusting and almost emotionless. You on the other hand were compassionate and emotionally connected to people around you it was the perfect balance. He has never said it but he loved you for it.
.
Looking around, you placed the closed and throughly read book on the coffee table, still in Mycroft’s shirt, and huddled down on the sofa. For a while you just thought about anything drifting between topics of all seriousness and then some of none at all. You didn’t know when he’d come back usually it’s a couple of months though you wished he didn’t have to leave at all. He knew you felt this way about parting even if you didn’t mention it to him. It would be a lie if he said it didn’t sting at little. It took a while but slumber eventually found you lulling you asleep.
.
You felt your body moving. Being carried upstairs yet despite not knowing who exactly it was their energy, their warmth made you snuggle deeper into the rich clothes that brushed against you. “Shh, Precious, go back to sleep.” The deep, British voice was distinct to your ears. Mycroft. Your eyes fluttered open. “Mycroft.” You whisper-shouted leaping from his arms onto your two feet. “Your home.” Unlike Mycroft as soon as you detached he brought you back to him. “Hello, Precious.” He whispered into your hair using the nickname you loved so dearly, the one he almost never used refusing to show ‘unnecessary affection that would make an exhibition of himself.’ “Oh Mycroft.” You pressed further into his torso. He stopped you before you could say anything else. “Judging by your current attire and how you were reading a classic which you proclaim to take you back to as you would say ‘your golden childhood’ and the fact you rarely want to wake up from slumber at any given time, I’d say you missed me.” You said nothing only smiled clutching his hand, pulling him to your shared room. He let out a small chuckle and proceeded to let you lead him away.
.
As soon as the door swung shut behind you with a light thump you dragged Mycroft down by the tie. Latching your lips upon his in a fiery but slightly sleepy passion. You had really missed this and the way he kissed you back rather hungrily, he did too. These kisses were extraordinary rare only seeing the light of day once in a blue moon. You felt your knees go weak as Mycroft slipped an arm on your lower back to pull you towards him. He began to gain dominance before breaking the kiss.
.
He shifted towards the bed sinking into its silks before holding up the quilt with one hand beckoning you in. You gladly obliged crawling in next to him getting closer until you had taken up the room surrounding him. Try as you might to stay awake your body betrayed you, a combination of warmth and comfort from your lover put you out like a candle in the wind. Leading you to a night full of comfort.
Do the lifting the partner of the ground with Mycroft and the reader is like reading a book or something and was startled by Mycroft suddenly appearing now they just stayed on the ground out of stubborness and Mycroft being so done with them just lifted them off the ground and placed them back on the sofa
Mycroft Drabble!
A/N: Here you go Darling! I hope you like it!
You basically live on the floor
For some unknown reason, neither you or the universe understood
The floor was always the best
There could be a hundred chairs around and you would still pick the floor
Mycroft was absolutely perplexed by this
Honestly you made no sense to him
But it was never something that bothered him
However, Mycroft is a clean freak
So a lot of the time you being on the floor will stop him from being able to sweep
Normally he just asks you to get up
But sometimes, when you have your headphones on, you don’t hear him
Once when this happened he didn’t feel like trying to talk, he was done with people
So instead he just sighed,
Rolled up the sleeves of his shirt,
And picked your ass up
You were shocked.
You had no idea he was strong enough to dead lift you off the fucking floor
He acted so casual about it, like he did that all the time
But you had never seen him do anything like that ever
EVER!
You practically swooned over it
He tried to act like he wasn’t proud of himself
But you saw that little sparkle of satisfaction in his eye
I’d love a fanfic/short story with Mycroft facing a situation where the person he’s dating/wife/etc would feel insecure about herself and he reacts to her telling him so - I’ve only ever read stories, where either he gets comforted by someone or where he takes care/worries cause of Sherlock, so it would be interesting to read about how he’d handle a situation like this (for example if one is concerned with not being „pretty enough“ or anything „profane“ like this)
So Brilliant ~ Mycroft x Gender Neutral!Reader
Summery: You haven't been yourself lately and Mycroft is worried about you.
Word count: 813
Warnings: No need to worry, just a few kisses and cuddles!
A/N: Hello Darlings! Surprise, its a bonus story Tuesday! I love the way this story turned out and I am so thankful for @deductinglife for requesting it. it not vary long but then again when is anything I write long lol. I hope everyone enjoys it, keep those request coming y’all!!!!! see you lovely Darlings on Thursday!
Mycroft was worried about you, he had been for over a week. You seemed distracted, far too in your own mind to properly perceive the world around you. Even in conversations with him you seemed distant.
You were sitting up in bed, reading one last chapter of your book before bed. He took a moment to appreciate how at peace you seemed. How perfect you looked in your simple robe, all the extravagance and embellishments of the day stripped off of you so you were left as nothing but your truest self. That was Mycroft’s favorite part of getting to spend nights with you. No one else got to see you in such a true and vulnerable state. He was deeper in love with you then he thought himself capable of. It was thrilling and absolutely terrifying to care for you the way he did.
“Mycroft?” your words startled him out of his musings as he stood in your shared room's door. “Are you going to come to bed or do you plan to stand in the threshold all night?” you laughed lightly as you spoke. He did the same as he climbed into the four post bed with you.
“Now how could I stay there when someone so brilliant waits for me in bed?” he leaned to kiss you but to turned your head away. “Darling?” he asked,
“Do…. Do you truly think I'm brilliant, Mycroft?” you looked away sheepishly.
“What do you mean, Darling?”
“I mean, I'm nowhere near your intellectual level am I? You can process information faster than a supercomputer and I…” you took a shaking breath and stopped yourself from rambling on. Mycroft was stunned. He had never imagined that you would feel like this. You were normally so confident, so certain of yourself and your abilities. Now he looked at you and saw the doubt that had been infecting you for so long. He saw how vulnerable you truly were. There were tears in your eyes as you put your book on the nightstand and took another breath. He took you hand in his, making you look at him reflexively. The worry in his eyes was not lost on you as he began to speak.
“You, my love, are truly the most brilliant person I have met. Certainly the only one capable of holding an intelligible conversation with me. I would not have given myself to you if i thought anything less. I am grateful that someone like you chose me in truth. You have an emotional intelligence that I lack entirely. In all reality, though it would pain me to admit this about anyone else, your mind far surpasses mine.” Mycroft stared into your eyes to ensure that you understood every word he said. He meant every single one. Your mind astonished him every day and the idea that you could put up with him baffled him. He had been so lonely before you found him. His large house had been so empty without you and so had his heart. He owed you his happiness.
You smiled at him, understanding what he had told you. Mycroft was not prone to lying about matters of his heart. In just a few moments he had quelled the insecurities in your mind. You were still not cured of such thoughts but you never would be. They were a doubt that would plague you for your whole life, but Mycroft had eased them. His was the only opinion that truly mattered to you and to know that he saw you with such a high regard made the voices of doubt quiet. He was everything to you, you owed him your happiness.
You leaned into him, gently taking his lips against your in a gentle and loving kiss. His hand came to rest on your cheek, deepening it slightly before pulling away. He looked into your eyes for a moment, taking in your expression.
“Is that what has been troubling you, Darling? You haven't been yourself for over a week.” He asked gently,
“I will admit I have been worried about it for a while.” you looked sheepish again but Mycroft stopped you from looking away.
“Well, don't worry about anything like that again. You are brilliant.” he smiled and kissed you for a moment. He knew you would still worry about it. He understood those thoughts, though ideas in your mind that would never leave you. But he hoped that maybe he had helped and that next time you would come to him sooner.
He sighed and laid back against his pillows,
“Now, turn off the light, I think we could both use some rest,” you agreed and did just that. As you began to get comfortable Mycroft pulled you close to him, a rare occurrence. He held you close and kissed your forehead. “Goodnight Darling” he whispered.
Something they do that you love~ Sherlock Preferences
Sherlock:
You loved to hear him play the violin. It was a beautiful instrument but in his hands it came to life. He told stories with it. He poured his soul into songs and you could hear every word he was trying to say. Some nights, when he couldn't sleep he would slip out of bed and go downstairs to play. You usually woke up soon after and would go down and sit in his chair and listen to him play as he gassed out the window down baker street. More often than not the soft music lulled you back to sleep. He would finish, pick you up from his chair and carry you back to bed, holding you closer than normal on those nights.
John:
John may be overprotective but he is also incredibly sweet. He often comes home and surprises you with flowers or dinner. It is nice because he knows when you need a little extra love. If you sounded stressed about something for work or a cse he would try to cheer you up any way he could. You loved these little tokens and moments of his affection.
Mycroft:
After a long day there was nothing better than Mycroft's cooking. He didn't cook for you all the time but when he did it was amazing. You had no idea where he found the time but at least once a month Mycroft would come home from work early and prepare a beautiful dinner for the two of you. Normally you had a cook that did this but he would give them the day off and make exquisite food. It was wonderful to have the house all to yourselves as you talked, eat, and just enjoyed each other's company.
Greg:
You love when Greg gets excited about football (soccer). You are both huge football fans. There is a little pub down the road that you both go to to watch every game. You drink with your friends and make a night out of it. Your favorite park of the night is if his favorite team wins he will scoop you up in his arms and kiss you. It's always a wonderful night.
Moriarty:
One of your favorite things was to watch Jim dance. He wasn't a particularly good dancer but he liked it and so did you. you loved to watch him jam out in your room. Whenever you walked in he would pull you into his chaotic party and make you dance with him till you were both out of breath and energy. Then you would collapse and laugh and talk till you had something you needed to get done. It was your favorite way to destress and just be with Jim.
