Creator Boundaries, Interpretation and Death of the Author

I really don't want to get into all this, (they say, then proceeds to write 5 paragraphs lmaoo) but this MYCT boundary thing is lowkey fascinating on an interpretive level

Like, to some degree, I can sympathise with CC's who make boundaries, especially for more RP focused things. Like, I can understand getting annoyed at people making an interpretation different to the one I intended, especially if it makes them uncomfortable. (like, don't forcibly show NSFW stuff to creators, that's lowkey sexual harassment, and you'd understand why they'd be uncomfortable with interpretations afterwards)

But, the thing is, what we are dealing with here is Death of the Author - not how it's used a lot in a sense to distance a work from a problematic author, but the view that the author or creator has no exceptional authority over the work. Some say disregard the author entirely, others say that the author is just one among many interpretations.

The most fun parts of fandom is interpretation, little character analyses, filling in the gaps to create backstories, or fanart, or fics. To be bound to the creators interpretation is, at least to me, limiting.

(This isn't even getting into the fanart boundaries stuff - yikes is all I'll say for that. Also I LOVE FAT PEOPLE)

My big media opinion is that fans do not need to be able to talk readily to creators. I don't know if there's been a piece of media improved by the ability to contact the creator of it. Good can come out of it, QnAs and stuff, but fans need spaces to exist beyond the creator.

(This could be due to me liking Elden Ring, which basically means you have to piece it together yourself, the game is the only information you'll get)

I feel like I’ve seen a lot of bbh fans (albeit on Twitter) completely sweep the snow prank on tubbo under the rug with a “well bbh is going to fix it so it’s fine” when the problem isn’t even in that. They don’t seem to 1. Realize how incredibly demoralizing it is to see like a month of work vanish in like a day and 2. Bbh never asked tubbo if he was ok with getting pranked and also this type of prank isn’t fit for starting a prank war, it’s more fit to get people to leave servers. Like it’s good bbh is going to clean it up but he should have asked tubbo about what was ok to prank at his base.

I get if it’s like an accidental misunderstanding of distance but like it’s just kinda depressing to see all that hard work effectively vanish, even if it’s going to get cleaned up. could’ve been funny. You know what I said maybe do one layer of snow one layer of grass you know a few layers of stone. Maybe add a few or generation or generation in there and try and be funny to make them think that oh really just effectively fill it up you I mean you didn’t have to put fucking 100 layers of snow. Idk it reeks someone pranking someone to start a prank war but way over doing it because the either just got out of one or are in one and miscalculated the intensity needed in their prank

yeah no fuck it im posting about this. you guys HAVE to stop acting like a qpr is on the same level as romantic shipping, especially for aeduo—it's just aphobia. qprs are described as platonic relationships that defy what is typically "expected" of them. yes, some qpr relationships may have elements that seem romantic to an outside point of view. qprs are different for EVERYONE and it all depends on the boundaries of the partners involved. but specifically related to aeduo, i very rarely see fanworks where they do anything more than cuddling or forehead touching—which are NOT inherently romantic, and im sorry, but implying that they are is aphobic as fuck.

invalidating qpr strips away a massive amount of rep from aroace/aspec communities which is why it's pretty aphobic to try and imply they're on the same level as romantic relationships. and yes—you can still be aspec and be aphobic. stop acting like you're 100% correct just because of your sexuality.

i read the ranboo spotify’s apology for saying “fuck techno and technotwt” and i think it’s abundantly clear they don’t care at all

“the only one we owe an apology to is ranboo,” they say, after insulting techno and his subtwt. maybe this is a stretch, but this reminds me exactly of asshole guys who insult girls and then apologize to the girl’s boyfriend instead of her. like they clearly don’t care for the person they offended, they just want validation from their cc. forget the fact they insulted a subtwt packed with minorities, the ones they are supposedly protecting, ranboo is the only one who was offended here.

Updates from the mcyt fandom: Karl created an opening for his tales series with the help of the creator of Omori. People were trying to cancel him for it. I go look it up.

Apparently the omori creator made shirts saying fujoshi and fudanshi some years ago and used to say loli and shota a lot. People were saying they were a pedo and feteshized mlm relationships and Karl shouldnt work with them

Not sure if this is the right place to talk about this, but im on nsfwmcyttwt (before anyone flames me, my neurodivergent brain decided to hyperfixate on a ship and this is the only place i get content) and people there are so extremely hypocritical. The ammount of 'im so glad i left [insert anime] fandom, people are constantly shipping minors there' tweets that ive read is so big?? Like what moral high ground do you think youre standing on, you lewd adults without their consent and thats somehow better than shipping fictional minors??? Bruh, im so tired
