okay I’m fed up with the “I’m a person!” line because he can’t fucking say that as he’s blowing up an entire nation, belonging to people with feelings and homes and all the things they love with it. are you serious? getting emotional when the people around him treat him as a weapon as he feeds into that shallow headed thinking, working with dream to tear down everything L’manburg stands for. and the fact that afterwards tommy said “and so are we!” and EVERYONE ignored that??? I’m sorry but his motives are hypocritical as fuck. stop seeing l’manburg as just government when it’s so much more.

i read the ranboo spotify’s apology for saying “fuck techno and technotwt” and i think it’s abundantly clear they don’t care at all

“the only one we owe an apology to is ranboo,” they say, after insulting techno and his subtwt. maybe this is a stretch, but this reminds me exactly of asshole guys who insult girls and then apologize to the girl’s boyfriend instead of her. like they clearly don’t care for the person they offended, they just want validation from their cc. forget the fact they insulted a subtwt packed with minorities, the ones they are supposedly protecting, ranboo is the only one who was offended here.

There's a lot of people mad at c!Techno and c!Phil cause of today. I'm gonna put down my thoughts cause it kinda feels like people are getting mad at everything they do with little reasoning. (Also, I don't like either of their characters)

The syndicate isn't anywhere near a form of government. Techno stated multiple times that no one in it will have more power than the other members. He also said every decision will be determined by whichever choice is chosen by the majority. No one has more power than others.

I don't like that they completely left c!Ranboo out despite him being the one to show Techno the stronghold and saying he wanted to explore it with him. Plus they had him sitting around the entire stream waiting for them.

BUT, them not trusting him is completely justified. I don't like the comments on his memory for a lot of reasons, but that's not why they don't trust him. They just met him, Techno has only done the mansion thing with him, but other than that has spent almost no time with him. Technoblade has trust issues, rightly so, and has plenty of reasons to not trust him.

They don't know the full extent of why he blew up the community house or has the disc, so they don't know what to make of that. Based on what he told them, it makes sense that he doesn't seem reliable.

I don't like agree with either of them and see dozens of flaws with the characters, but this is a stretch.

a point I’ve seen brought up on both sides of the isle is whether technoblade can be faulted for teaming up with dream after tommy swapped sides (and saying that dream didn’t seem like a bad guy before the swap), whether he can be held accountable or not because tommy didn’t explicitly talk to him about what happened

in my opinion, it’s wrong to say that he Condones the things that dream did to tommy, or to say that teaming up with dream makes him as bad as him (in that specific regard anyways). technoblade Doesn’t have the details, he Doesn’t know how bad it was or how far tommy was pushed. he didn’t make the decisions that he did with the full picture

he is, however, not an idiot. he was Very aware that something was wrong, that something Very bad happened between dream and tommy that extended beyond enforcing his exile. technoblade talked tommy through what was obviously acted as panic attacks, he saw tommy’s confusion and trauma surrounding dream first hand. the fact is, technoblade wouldn’t have protected tommy if he didn’t think there was something to protect him from.

we shouldn’t blame technoblade for things he couldn’t know, but it’s naive to say that he didn’t know anything. He put aside some Very heavy implications to justify working with dream, either because he was desperate to reach for an ally after he lost someone he considered a friend or to specifically and intentionally hurt tommy (which is more likely is open for interpretation, and it could be a bit of both).

I’m really excited that Wilbur is back on the writing team. It’s a matter of opinion, I know, but I think it will be good for the story going forwards.

People are worried that he’ll take away the multiple perspective thing season 2 had, but I don’t think he will. People just weren’t as involved in season one, and the others are still writing, so I doubt anyone will be excluded. But the real reason I’m excited is because of how he treats morality and consequences.

Don’t get me wrong, both seasons 1 and 2 had wonderfully grey characters, and I appreciate that. But in season 1, characters like Wilbur and Schlatt (and Dream, but that’s another matter to be addressed another time) had real consequences for their actions. When someone did things that were morally wrong in season one, they were treated bad in a narrative sense for it. And people still loved them! Wilbur was an amazing fallen hero, and Schlatt was a villain you loved to hate. The fandom may have disliked them as “people” but they were loved as characters.

In season 2, right up until the finale, it felt like it was just Tommy and Tubbo suffering over and over and over again, to the point of near darkness induced apathy for many, while Technoblade and Philza got away scott-free for their actions at the end of the season. Those two were narratively villains, but all they ever did was win, and it got boring. People either love them or they can’t stand them in a very different way than the season 1 villains, because at least with Wilbur and Schlatt, their actions weren’t being excused and ignored. The difference between people who watched only Techno’s POV and people who watch almost anyone else’s POV is so stark it’s nearly ripped the fandom in half. With Wilbur back on the team, I’ve got hope that the two of them might finally take an L and get genuine character development. I want to see them grow and change, to know what it’s like to lose and to learn from that loss. I think that would endear their characters to many who have grown to dislike them. And I’m finally hopeful that it will happen.

(It’s also interesting that many people complain about how Wilbur made Dream out to be a villain, when season 1 Dream was fun and morally grey and totally redeemable. It’s only when season 2 came around that he became the monster he is now. And that’s when cc!Dream was a main writer. But that’s a topic for another day.)
