I have just started upon a journey that will require a huge sacrifice on my already busy schedule. But it is a necessary path for me to undertake and I would like to bring you along.
For the next 12 months I will be furthering my education by studying for an Entertainment Business Master of Science degree from Full Sail University. I took a year off after getting my Bachelors of Science degree in Software Engineering to figure out exactly where I wanted to go next in life. I was building up a portfolio of code and actually accepted a programming job that I later had to turn down because life threw me an unexpected “plot twist”. I had to put my goals and my education on hold because my two youngest daughters needed me to assume full physical custody in order to remain in the environment that they spent the first ten years of their life in.
But that was four years ago and they are getting older and more independent, so I feel that it’s time for me to get back to my “now” decided path. Before I go on; I want to ensure that it is known that I love my children dearly, and they are the motivation behind everything I do and every decision I make. This is why I am pursuing this degree and my dreams while still working full time to pay the bills.
During this journey I will learn about entertainment law, contracts and negotiations, licensing, publishing and distribution, business finance, and many other skills necessary to advance my career aspirations, but I also hope to learn more about myself and my dreams on a deeper level. It would be nice to also discover a unique niche that only I can fill, but that might take another degree.
