i just wanna say it can be disrespectful to cultures/relgions to be “mythoskin”. ^^; for example: someone who worships Aphrodite, and someone else “kins” her. that is incredibly disrespectful. being mythkin in the way of “im a harpy” or “im unicorn kin.” is fine because they aren’t deities /gen/info
hello!! i don't disagree, but i feel like there's a ton of nuance behind this, that i believe would be worth talking about!!
there are quite a few fictional characters based off of mythical deities and spirits, and i had assumed that the previous ask was specifically regarding that. percy jackson poseidon isn't the same as the deity himself, as an example. i myself, as someone who primarily practices shintoism, would be a bit uncomfortable seeing someone (namely not of my ethnicity or religion) call themself a kin of a yokai, but it would be unfair to bar someone from kinning a yokai watch, or pokemon like espeon, whose core inspiration originates from shintoism. BUT i also understand that beings who don't practice shintoism wouldn't usually view the yokai as "real", so i also don't care? if this makes sense? perhaps i'm too lenient, but the nekomata spirit is a part of the reason i'm a calico cat at heart, so i dunno
anyone's free to share their opinion on this!! please do, actually!! this is a topic that intrigues me quite a bit, but i know i could absolutely be super wrong about it!!!
