🍆 cozy challenge + naclyoho :)

it got dark on me while hiking!!! rude!!! you’d think it was daylights saving or something. daylights losing perhaps. the beech trees were out in force nonetheless. some maples left too, though the oaks’ and tulip poplars’ leaves are mostly gone.

i have to come clean as mildly addicted to the coloring pages at church. i assume they are for children but TOO BAD!! they are also for Me. :) obviously I couldn’t get much shading done in an hour—hopefully no one will take the page before next sunday.

tonight i need to meal prep, do more of the laundry and dishes i started yesterday, and clear out the entryway. i also need to take the recycling out… which i can do in the dark… i guess… :/

tomorrow i think i’ll make treat baskets for my examiners. they deserve a little gift. mock examiners too!! i need to take the shortbread dough and strawberry balls out of the freezer tonight.

So far today:

-Took out recycling

-Did a load of laundry

-Swapped out Minnie's litter box for a new one that is both larger and has easier accessibility since she has little legs

-took out the old litter and also the trash from the new mat

-vacuumed up all the litter that had been flung out

-cleaned the litter box TWICE thanks Minnie

-took out the bag of trash that I had picked up in my guest room that had just been sitting there for fuck knows how long

-put away the box of remaining food from dragon con bc I needed the fucking bin for the next task

-boxed up all of my work clothes that I'm donating

-put those two boxes in my car (one had previously been boxed up and was just chilling in the guest room)

-took my dress out of the car and hung it up

Taking a break for now but have some more things I want to get done today

NaClYoHo 2025 Master List

November is just around the corner, so I've started thinking about the tasks I want to accomplish.

Undecorate from Halloween--this is how I kick things off; it's key to freeing up space and will allow me to put some totes away; also goes hand-in-hand with bringing out a few new fall decorations.

Finish Wardrobe Changeover--it got--and stayed--cooler here earlier than it did last year, which means I'm ahead on this task. Time to finish it off and get my closet laid out the way I want.

Closet Org--I did a lot of work last year-ish, so there's not much left; I need to figure out a new way to store my linens/towels, figure out storage for hangars, and repurpose a set of plastic drawers.

Car Cleanup--my car needs to go in for routine/milestone maintenance (RIP my savings); it's also a good time to clean out the center console/glovebox; maybe vacuum; and deal with a few window smudges.

Wash the Windows--I've been accumulating supplies to clean the large windows in my living room, so it's finally time to put them to use; then I can actually put those supplies away.

Donate/Haul Away Junk--I need to get rid of some bulky items that are taking up unnecessary space; trickiest one will probably be the futon mattress, but getting rid of it will be key for the space update I want to do.

Reorg/Redo Guestroom/Office--When I first moved into my place, the closet in this room became the catch-all space for "stuff I might not need but let's hold onto it just in case"; it's time to get in there and get rid of anything that hasn't been touched in years. A few months after I moved in is when everything went virtual, and I made this into a "temporary" office space; since I now work hybrid, it's time to make things more permanent; plan is to relocate some of the current artwork and figure out a new bulletin/whiteboard situation; also need to get window latch repaired.

Freezer/Pantry Purge--need to keep using up items I already have in my larder so I eat most everything down by December.

Maintenance Chores--catch-up/keep-up with general chores

Yet more work on the dress! I’m hitting the stages with a LOT of hand sewing, and we hates it precious, we hates it! *hissssss*

With the kitchen reno paused til spring and surgery looming, I'm not sure how much I want to take on in November. So I came up with a few ideas for the month:

Begin chipping away at photo albums. I've started organizing some photos by era, but the process stalled months ago and now they just sit in the third bedroom

Hang art in the third bedroom, which is currently sitting on the floor.

Wash the windows, inside and out. (this made a huge difference when I did it a few years ago.)

Pantry sort before the holidays

Fridge and freezer sort & clean (also made a huge difference)

New bathroom runner

New living room rug

Select kitchen faucet

Install kitchen chandelier

Rewire primary bedroom ceiling fan

Day 15:

I now have all the bodice pieces for the new Regency dress cut out. I’m holding off on the skirt pieces, partly because that’s almost the last, and also because that’s gonna require more floor sitting. Also made a few more rosettes - up to 20 now. Probably more than we’ll need, but better to have them than not.

Time to break out the sewing machine! *screams internally*

Media: Anastasia. Honestly, I was so focused on pinning and cutting. I forgot to be irked by the INSANE HISTORICAL INACCURACY and just enjoyed the bops. Have you heard, there’s a rumor in St. Petersburg…

NaClYoHo 2025, Week 2

Day 8:

Cleaned out the laundry nook, swept and mopped, put everything back. Got a little brush and got most of the flyaway lint out of the lint trap in the dryer. Did three loads of laundry, which included fabric and lining for my new Regency dress. Still have to iron it once it comes out of the dryer, but it’s a crucial first step.

-threw on a load of laundry

-extremely half-ass wet swiffered the kitchen/living room

-changed out my bathroom hand towel

-Brought in and threw away irrelevant mail

-hung up my work dress (huge)

Extremely irritated that I need to change my air filter and I DON'T HAVE A NEW ONE. Will have to pick one up this weekend
