is it possible or likely that hybrids in twilight are sterile? if so, what are the implications?
Can hybrids reproduce? Hybrids and reproduction. More on hybrids and reproduction.
I lean towards they can. It's of course possible they can't, plenty of examples of sterile hybrid creatures in nature, but I think it's also something we shouldn't assume right out the door or say is likelier than reproduction being possible. And it would explain those sexual attributes they didn't lose along the way.
As for the implications of sterility... nothing?
It means hybrids will never take off as their own species, they'll happen if/when humans and vampires have children together but you'll never get them breeding on their own. It would mean there will always be relatively few hybrids (especially taking into account the conditions required for successful births).
For the personal characters, it means that there will be big drama when it's discovered that Renesmee physically cannot have her own children but that'll be overshadowed by whatever else is going on in the family and... of course... the Jacob debacle.
For Nahuel, he may never know, as he has the small problem that every female member of his species is his sister or Renesmee. It's really hard to be Nahuel, guys.
And it would mean Joham wouldn't have any success in bright ideas I really hope he didn't have offscreen even though they feel exactly like the sort of ideas he would have.
Rendering: Hey mom, I just talked with cousin Nahuel. Have you ever considered that dad's a sick fuck?
Bella: *holding back laughter* All the time. What makes you ask?
Residuals: Well Nahuel's dad is a creepy bastard that preys on young women so he can experiment on them with hybrid children...
Edward: *from across the house* We are not the same! Also, you need to watch your language!
Bella: *whispering but knowing he can hear her* oh my gosh you might be right!
Review: *also whispering* It's something about the way he just stares, ya know? He looks at you like you're something to eat.
*both burst into laughter*
*Edward appears in the room*
Edward: Young lady! We do not quote Mike Newton in this house! Have respect for your grandparents home! You're grounded!
"Stop Joham if you will, but leave my sisters be. They are innocent." - Nahuel
Steal the Stars // Nahuel x Reader.
Pairing: Nahuel x Reader.
Prompt: For you, I’d steal the stars + As long as I have you, I have a reason to live.

Before you, life had been hopeless.
A dark, desolate existence, void of any true meaning...he'd seen the sun and the stars but had no light; he feasted upon blood but was never truly full; he breathed and his heart beat but he had not lived until that night...
The night he met you.
You were like him in the simplest of ways, a hybrid, wandering the earth in hopes of finding where you belonged...so of course, the stars led you to him. Beyond your species, you and Nahuel had so little in common.
He was despondent, you were delighted; he was resented his life, you embraced it; everything about Nahuel was darkness but you, you were all starlight, breaking through the dark and filling his strange, sad world with light...so was it any wonder that he fell in love with you?
And by some miracle, you loved him too.
Perhaps the universe had felt it time that the young man was given a miracle of his own, having been denied just that for so, so long.
Miracles, he discovered, could be people with a laugh like music and eyes so deep and so bright, he could get lost in them forever and ever...and wouldn't you know it, forever was exactly what he had to offer.
"Do you know what your reason is?"
You asked the question so suddenly, walking through the jungle together. His finger were intertwined in yours, helping you over a mossy fallen log, the scent of rainfall and flowers thick in the air.
"My reason?" Nahuel asked, unsure of what you meant.
"It's something my father told me, before he sent me off into the world," you explained. "That if I was going to live forever, I needed to find my reason, something to live for...and that's how I found you."
"As long as I have you, I have a reason to live," Nahuel said simply.
He heard your half-dad heart quicken, looking away quickly with shyness...and he could not let you be, having discovered that, with you, he was a terrible tease. Quickly, he took hold of you and pulled you into the flowers with him, his name spilling from your lips amongst laughter.
"For you," Nahuel whispered, lips moving over your skin. "I'd steal the stars! And the sun and the moon and anything, everything you asked me for."
"Hmm...I only want a kiss. And flowers and you!"
He gave you all three, a crown of flower in your hair and a kiss upon your lips and Nahuel in your arms, forever and ever.

I'm not sure if the explanation of why Edward could get Bella pregnant (him being a virgin and therefore still having a bit of, ahem, human DNA available to do the deed) is canon or just fanon, but either way, I'm about to ruin someone's day...
this theory/explanation makes NO sense for one specific reason - or should I say four specific reasons: nahuel's father has three other children.
joham tried for decades to make it work before he had the first one (and then went on to create three more hybrids) the man was nowhere close to being a virgin, so we are still without an adequate explanation to how vampire-human pregnancy happens
that is all
