Guys I just had a horrible, shiver inducing thought...
Okay, you know the saying “Like Father, Like Son”... well I had a horrible moment of realisation about Vegas and Kan.
Now, we all know that in episode 4 when Porsche was drugged, Vegas was the one responsible and that he probably would have carried on assaulting Porsche if he wasn’t told that Kinn had been alerted (I still hate Vegas for that, never forgiving him for that, ever!) And then we found out that Kan (every time this cunt is mentioned, I see red, he makes me livid) assaulted Porsche’s mother when she got back to the house. Kan didn’t even try to fucking deny it when Korn spat that out to him and apparently, Kan did so in the novel as well so he actually did assault her (my heart breaks just thinking about it).
But it’s the fact that both Porsche and his mother were assaulted in the same way more or less from the two people from the minor family who were father and son. Kan assaulted Namphueng and then years later, Kan’s son assaults Namphueng’s son in the same way, but doesn’t actually fully succeed thanks to Kinn. This thought is fucking heartbreaking and I literally got it when I was in my kitchen giving both my cats treats, it literally came out of fucking nowhere but the thought broke my heart.
That's some Jane Eyre shit right there. Keeping women in the attic...
I wonder if Chan knows about Nampheung. He must know, right? Because it'd be fucking weird otherwise.
So, quick question:
Did Korn maintain his fake death, post-canon?
Yes - he's still 'dead' to everyone but his family and staff
No - he revealed he was alive after the coup
Other
See, I'm asking because I don't know how Korn could come back after everything that's happened...
We saw in the meeting Kinn held with their 'business' associates that the news of Korn's death wasn't just kept within their family, to lure Gun to act. Everyone thinks Korn's dead and that Kinn now has full control of the main family.
In this same meeting, Kinn kills two of their associates, who questioned his authority:
Now that could have been part of Korn's plans, to let his ruthless son take care of disloyal allies - fun fact: this whole argument started over the main family not being fast enough to sign a Russian dealer, Mr. Vadim, who Kinn was supposed to meet in the last episode before Korn very kindly rescheduled it.
But, even still - how would it look for Korn if he came back to life after both this meeting and the coup? What would all of the other gangs think of Korn's deception leading to the deaths of three leaders (the two here, as well as Gun's)?
I think that would be a step too far away from the 'fair and reasonable’ image Korn projects of himself. It would cause too much unrest among the underworld, and threaten the very power he's spent so long cultivating.
No - I think Korn is stuck here. Whether he intended to or not, he's now locked himself permanently in his compound.
Like he did to Nampheung.
The inherent trauma of finding out you've been lied to about a parent's death:
And the inherent trauma of finding a parent dead:
I remember being taken aback by this in my first watch of the show, ‘cause like - why would his mom say that? From what we’d seen so far, it didn’t seem like they grew up in a rough area, and surely their money troubles started after the parents died…
But I guess Kinn’s complete non-reaction here should have clued me in - a mom being resigned to her son dying early is just a matter of course in the mafia…
