Wanting a show to tank, one that employs hundreds of people, because they aren't doing what you wanted, is pretty shitty and immature. Some of those people are Brett's friends and I am sure he would not want them to lose their jobs. But hey, be petty. The other actors on the show will find work most anywhere. Where's Brett working again?
First of all, I’m not petty, I’m salty. So salty.
Second of all, I would never wish unemployment on anyone, that’s just mean. I’m sure they’ll all find jobs quickly, I wish them the best with that.
Third of all, yes, I know they’re his friends. But the way some of them have treated him, and his fans, in the past, because of things that his CHARACTER has done, was pretty rude and shouldn’t have been encouraged.
Fourth of all, it’s not just because they didn’t do what I wanted. I’m used to that kind of stuff because I watch so much TV, I’ve gone through it all. I may be a little upset, but not by much, and not enough to wish a show would go completely off the air.
It’s because of blatant choices that the WRITERS made to include in the narrative of their own show. Choices that made fans who connected with a character (Ward) because of similar things that they went through in their past, feel alienated. Because they saw themselves in this character and thought ‘hey, maybe I can change how I turn out, I don’t have to fall into the pattern, I can escape all the bad things that happened to me’, because they thought Ward would be getting that too, but then basically had it thrown back in their faces when Ward was pretty much told “you can’t change, you’re never going to be good, you’re never going to escape what happened, you’re a monster because of things other people did to you, you can’t be better than your abusers”, by the very people who said they believed in second chances and all that jazz. Fans felt attacked. Many of them couldn’t stomach watching a show that said such things about abuse victims (yes, Ward is canonically an abuse victim and I will fight anyone who claims otherwise). The writers chose to go the route they did and basically dug themselves into a whole with the narrative they chose to tell and now they have to live with the consequences of those actions.
Fifth of all, do you even KNOW how popular Brett has become because of this show? Do you know how many upcoming projects people want him to be cast in? If this show has given us anything, it’s given us Brett, and his fan base just keeps on growing because people are seeing how phenomenal of an actor he is. And maybe he’s choosing not to get cast in something right now so he can spend time with his family and go to cons to meet fans, we don’t know what’s going on in his life. All we know is that he’s amazing and portrayed an amazing character who will forever live on in the hearts of his fans.
