Ok I was just looking at Ace’s wiki fan page and one of the trivia bullet points is that Ace was the same in Nancy’s alternate reality in The Whisper Box. And I can’t stop thinking about it. Like, in Nancy’s literal perfect dream world, where everyone else is a better version of themselves, Ace is exactly the same. I’m not okay, I’m going to be thinking about this all week.

I know Nancy tells Ace that she realized her feelings for him when she was fighting off the wraith. But we all know she fell in love with him in “The Sign of the Uninvited Guest” when they go to the library (this is now my new favorite episode other than “The Danger of the Hopeful Sigil”) . Like, I know there’s the super obvious moment where they’re reading Lucy and Ryan’s emails out loud and share a Look. But, what about the part where Ace is bickering with Dominique and flexes that he’s self taught at hacking and Nancy just gives him the briefest “ok, you’re cute” look. And then before they pull up the emails and Ace is explaining how he installed keystroke logging software on all the computers when he was younger, Nancy just looks at him like she’s looking at an enigma that is Ace and would happily spend the rest of her life figuring him out.
And I just can’t with his ship. I love everything that was given to us but I need so. much. more. I hate we never got to really see them in a relationship except for the small part at the end of season 3. I’m in the middle of some fanfic but if you have any Nace fanfic recommendations, please send me a link or title and author!

Getting in after being waitlisted, Nancy and Ace decide to go to Columbia…together. Read from the beginning Nancy and Ace work on settling into married life and beginning school. Read Chapter 2 on AO3
“Okay, we’re going to need some kind of shelf for the shower,” Ace calls to her. “There’s no way we can make all of this fit.”
Nancy wanders over from where she’s been putting clothes away, trying not to think too hard about Ace’s pullovers being nested in a drawer next to her turtlenecks. She laughs loudly at the sight, Ace surveying the small bathroom counter that’s covered in colorful bottles. “Do you have more hair products than me?”
“‘Softer than I even imagined’ takes effort, Nancy. How would you like to be seen out and about with a husband who has terrible hair?”
Nancy merely laughs and heads back to her task, Ace following her.
“And we still need cookware, and a toaster. And a coffee maker. We better go shopping.” Ace has a glint in his eye like he’s excited about buying appliances and plates and Nancy can’t help but smile back, even if she doesn’t share his enthusiasm.
She lays a hand on his shoulder. “Tell you what, why don’t you go pick out all of that, and I will keep unpacking and organizing here. Get the bed made up so we actually have a place to sleep tonight.”
“If you’re sure.”
“Very,” Nancy says as she opens the door, already shepherding him into the hallway. “Get a shelf for the shower and a coffee maker and I will be perfectly content.”
