Guxiang's love and care for her son is and isn't like Zhou Luo's for Nanya.

Alike, in that she wants nothing except the best for Zhou Luo.

Zhou Luo wants a better life - even a good life - for Nanya and Wanwan; he might want other things from her, but what help he wants to offer isn't conditional on her giving him anything in return.

Consider his "trivial" offerings: a cassette with rock songs he likes ( that standard exchange/love token of a different generation) and that she listens to; flowers, which she said she planted but he mustn't give her more; that tape with his reading poetry for her, which she didn't throw away, even if she did use it for other purposes.

(The one trivial includes all the other things, such as taking care of Wanwan, taking a beating from Xu Yi etc).

And now consider Nanya: with Xu Yi, she tore up film tickets, left the flowers outside her door (which is why I'm convinced that that fateful night when Hu Lifan was killed, what happened later wasn't gratitude, adrenaline or resignation - it was rape). With Dr. Jiang, she tries to be tactful when he tries it on with her during her daughter's consultation, because she's perfectly aware he wants her like she's an object.

Fanglu, now. She knows what he is, and when he comes to see her after she's released, with a box of groceries, and says not one word out of line - when he turns around and you think he's going to say, 'You can call me anytime', what he says is, 'You can call the police anytime'.

But Nanya is perfectly aware that it's an offering in exactly the same way as the other things offered by Xu Yi and Dr. Jiang were.

And so she leaves the box where it was.

Nanya has been unwavering and consistent in how she approaches relationships. You could call it 'steadfast' and you would be right.

She is steadfast in the way that Zhou Luo is steadfast.

And these echoes and resonances between people, their attitude towards others, their sense of how to be in the world, is what elevates this drama.

Finally done with this too! I am sure that’s not how you are supposed to hold the knitting sticks, but i was desperate while sketching the pose Also, this my first time drawing old Nanya, yay! Love how the yarn ball is the same color as her younger-self’s hair color

I am kind of both satisfied and dissatisfied by this one. First of all i drew the rocking chair, design is lame, but i actually drew it and i like it, and i actually drew character sitting on it and it looks natural. Also, it was supposed to be in a simple frame and i decided to add the grapevine (which was supposed to be wisteria in the beginning), also the random squirrel? Just decided to add one out of nowhere

So, this was meant to be a background practice along with the drawing of Lila, and i amn’t satisfied with background really much, i wanted the background to be more detailed, but it is really hard when cause i draw on smaller scale and i cant get the small details drawn right because of it, lets say i never learn from my mistakes. Also, the coloring here is very lazy cause i really wanted to move on and draw something else.

Sebuah pertanyaan yang kalo dibuat mode "romantizing of particular object" akan berhenti pada kesimpulan "dia kangen aja nih padahal tapi sok-sokan nanya hujan". Padahal mah....yaa nanya aja, literally nanya, mungkin siap-siap kalo mau ke "situ" tuh mesti sedia payung atau jas hujan + pake alas kaki yang tahan air.

Naon ya sebutannya. Rendah hati, peduli, atau naon we lah. Udah dianggap bisa sama orang lain tuh, kalau minta diajarin jangan pelit. Orang-orang ini bukan iseng, bukan iri, dan gak ada keinginan menyaingi. Jika merasa terganggu karena salah waktu dan kondisi, itu memang kesalahan si orang ini. Orang-orang ini kalau udah ngerti gak mungkin juga gini, gak mungkin nanya sana sini, dan gak mungkin pula mengusik ketenangan. Rendah hati, peduli, atau naon we lah. Mungkin kesalahan orang-orang ini yang seharusnya jadi kaum yang serba bisa. Dan setelah bisa, orang-orang ini hanya ingin tetap rendah hati, peduli, atau naon we lah.
