March 13th, 2019: Congratulations to Naokinu (尚絹) of Nakasato (中里) in Kamishichiken on the occasion of her erikae! She is the first Nakasato girl to have her erikae since Naokazu back in 2010 and, wow, was she worth the wait! The geiko look suits her so well and it will be exciting to see her in her new role on stage for the Kitano Odori that starts in less than two weeks! Although her onesan Naosome (尚そめ) is no longer active she was still on hand to witness Naokinu’s big day ^^ おめでとうさんどす尚絹さん ^o^! Image courtesy of Ktellusastory.

October 2018: Geiko Umeshizu (Ichi Okiya) of Kamishichiken dressed as Lady Yodogimi, and Geiko Ichitaka (Ichi Okiya), Maiko Naokinu (Nakasato Okiya) and Maiko Umehina (Umeno Okiya) dressed as her three attendants during the Jidai Matsuri.
Lady Yodogimi first was a concubine to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who was a daimyoo, warrior and general who was also active as a politican in the 16th century. She later became his second wife and had a son with him, Hideyori. Sadly, her husband was later killed and they fell victim to a number of conspiracies, so Yodogimi and her son would later commit suicide when their castle in Osaka surrendered to the Tokugawa clan.
