Erikae (衿替え) คือวันเลื่อนขั้นอย่างเป็นทางการของไมโกะขึ้นเป็นเกโกะ เธอคนนั้นจะสวมกิโมโนที่เป็นทางการที่สุด แล้วออกไปเดินกับช่างแต่งกิโมโนประจำโอกิยะ เพื่อขอบคุณโรงน้ำชาต่างๆ และอาจารย์ ที่คอยสนับสนุนเธอ พร้อมขอให้พวกเขาสนับสนุนเธอต่อไปในฐานะเกโกะ ซึ่งอาจมีกรณีพิเศษสำหรับหญิงสาวที่เป็นเกโกะโดยตรงโดยไม่ผ่านขั้นไมโกะเนื่องจากอายุที่มากเกินจะเป็นไมโกะได้ พวกเธอเหล่านี้จะเรียกพิธีขึ้นเป็นเกโกะของเธอว่า Misedashi (店だし : พิธีการแสดงตัวครั้งแรก) มากกว่าที่จะใช้คำว่า Erikae
