me, oh I don’t ‘engage’ in fandom, no what I do is I lurk on blogs of various people in the fandom, laugh out loud and say ‘hm yeah that’s interesting I never thought of it like that before but maybe have you considered..’ as if their posts can hear me through the screen, and living out a fantasy of being connected to a group of people who are all already friends with each other, like the internet equivalent of sitting close-ish to them in a public space but not actually interacting except to listen to what they’re saying and mutter ‘right on’ to myself, and i call this being part of the fandom, and occasionally feel pangs of fomo as I realise that for all I appreciate these people they have no idea of my existence and thus aren’t my friends, but you won’t catch me ever like sending one of these people a message or doing the bare minimum to reach out and actually make a friend
