polyculeee, hinata technically isnt apart of it till the events of the last but alas. they got matching nailss!! sometimes theyll change the colour, prolly on a weekly basis or when theyre all home from missions. haku honestly probably doesnt become a shinobi for the leaf till part two either if at all due to his dislike of the work but alas.

Haku & Naruto (Naruto) x Denji & Reze (Chainsaw Man)

Thoughts below!

I went into this edit thinking that I'd be comparing Haku to Reze because they have very similar storylines. But when you look closer it's actually Naruto and Reze who have the same motivations when it comes to their counterparts. How can I convince this person to leave their abuser or at the very least see how they're being used by them?

Reze does get Denji to attempt to leave Makima only to be thwarted at the last minute. Haku, on the other hand, was so convinced of his own worthlessness outside of Zabuza that nothing Naruto said could get him to leave. Because Haku didn't have a life outside of Zabuza as he was "adopted" as a toddler. Thus he didn't have a dream outside of being useful to Zabuza as a weapon so that he wouldn't be left alone. Meanwhile, Denji's dream was to live a normal life and get a girlfriend. It's a dream that can be accomplished with or without Makima hence his decision to leave.

This difference is why I'm still so disgusted by the Naruto manga and the fandom's response to Haku's character. His relationship with Zabuza is romanticized (and even sexualized) despite Naruto even going so far to call Haku Zabuza's slave. While Zabuza was a victim of his society (much like Makima is a victim of the Japanese government), I don't think he deserves to be buried next to his victim or receive any audience sympathy. That's why Haku's ending still leaves a bad taste in mouth tbh he deserved so much better.

But beyond that, I do love how Haku is the canary in the coal mine when it comes to how fucked up the shinobi world is and has a lasting impact on Naruto's outlook. I'm sure Denji did the same to Reze by exposing her own dissatisfaction with her life. I hope she's happy wherever she is.

Anyway tldr: fuck Makima and Zabuza, Denji/Reze and Haku/Naruto deserved more time with each other outside of the systems that dehumanized them, also Haku and Naruto should have kissed rip.

Overprotective big brother Zabuza refusing to just let Haku and Naruto have cute dates. Always dragging Kakashi out to share those dates with them and make sure Naruto is treating Haku right.

Haku giving Kakashi the shovel talk thinking that he’s super scary and intimidating while Kakashi’s standing there desperately trying not to laugh. Getting glared at by Zabuza because he’s not allowing Haku to feel like a big tough protective boy lol.

Haku and Naruto sneaking away to cuddle under a tree, only to find Kakashi and Zabuza already occupying the exact tree that they wanted.

Thoughts on Naruto/Haku? Its not really a thing but im curious to see ur take on it!

Naruto/Haku… hmm. Personally I’m not very sold on this, because they have very different personalities. I’m talking, like, radically different here. Their belief systems, while similar, operate in completely opposite ways; Haku is naturally kind and hates hurting others, whereas Naruto can and will do anything to protect the ones he loves.

Both of them are also infinitely devoted to another person (Haku w/Zabuza and Naruto w/Sasuke), so I don’t think they’d actually be able to detach from that devotion (which is why I see Haku as not compatible in any romantic relationship, and Naruto as incompatible with everyone except Sasuke, and sparingly Gaara or Sakura). 

Removing the aspects of their devotion, both have different needs despite having similar self-esteem issues. Haku needs tender and soft love; he needs to be cherished and well-cared for. Naruto, conversely, needs someone he can compete with, who can keep him on his feet, who shows that they think he is good enough to keep up with them. Sasuke provides this, as does Gaara (and Sakura, potentially). 

To conclude: I don’t ship it, and I don’t think they’re compatible. They might work in a world where neither had to undergo the trauma they did, though, and it’s a very interesting idea. Thanks for the ask! It was fun to think about 💖💖

kinda wish haku and nart survived kishimoto, fell deeply in love, and traveled the world before dying peacefully of old age in each other’s arms and not like... have to go through what kishi put them through....

“Thank you.” Haku smiles at him, black hair down and hanging to his waist. He seems to be all but glowing. “You look handsome too, but I think I like you in the sunlight better.”

Naruto flushes and rubs the back of his head, grinning. 

“Now,” Haku says, suddenly only inches away. “I think you said something about a midnight swim?”
