The Anti-Team 7, Formally Known as Team 6 (Komorebi)

First, I’d like to thank the wonderful @pumiih for drawing my little heathens. You made them (and Naruto) so beautiful.

It’s kind of funny. I picked the number 6 as their team number because Naruto would be the sixth Hokage (Kakashi is serving as Tsunade’s Jounin Commander for now) in my little AU world. I then learned that Team 6 was the number given to Jiraiya’s team with Minato and I thought, “Well, that’s a better reason to keep it as Team 6,” so here I am.

The Word doc that I made to actually plot this thing out to a degree has the title above for the Naruto-sensei arc. That’s somewhat touched on briefly before Naruto meets his team in the flesh, where he’s joking with Sakura that “This is their Sasuke, this is our you, and this is our me,” as the two of them look over the files Tsunade gave him. And he’s technically not entirely wrong about it lol. They just have really superficial connections to the OG Team 7. I even asked Pumiih to put them in the same order as the Team 7 picture. I haven’t posted it yet, but fic will be called Komorebi which translates to, “sunlight filtering through trees,” and I liked the imagery of that, so that’s the name.

Anti-Sasuke: Chitose Hyuuga 🍬 (prestigious clan with magic eyes)

Anti-Naruto: Kaito Isobe 🪁 (orphan, known troll)

Anti-Sakura: Tsurigane Kashiwagi 🔔 (girl)

I feel slightly bad for reducing Tsuri to that but I’m laughing too hard at the summary to care. She is probably the easiest anti-parallel to spot. Whereas Sakura didn’t really have an overarching goal until the Forest Death scene, Tsuri is the only one on Team 6 with an overarching dream/goal. She wants to gain Kage level strength, even though she doesn’t necessarily want the hat, and go down in history as a legendary kunoichi. Tsuri pretty much has a five year plan, meanwhile, Chitose is doing this ninja stuff because it’s what Hyuuga do, and Kaito is simply trying to earn a living until he finds something else that he likes. There is enough internalized misogyny in this girl to power a small village. You can thank her parents for that one. Tsuri despises fan girl behavior and she even lost a friendship over her best friend choosing to like and giggle over a boy. Eventually, she’ll reconcile with her, but for now, no. Very stubborn, very bull-headed, and very driven, Tsuri does not do things by halves.

Chitose is probably the least anti-parallel of the three, since her story revolves around bonds just like Sasuke’s had. Whereas Sasuke formed new bonds within Team 7 and wanted to protect them until Itachi and the Sound 4 happened, causing him to think he needed to sever his bonds and fuel his hatred to achieve his goals, Chitose’s story is a bit different. She wants to form bonds with others, and while she doesn’t have a deeply traumatic backstory, Chi definitely has some serious hang-ups stemming from the divide between the main branch and cadet branches of the Hyuuga family. She is not close to Neji or Hinata, but she has seen them grow into stronger, happier individuals because of their teammates and the work they do, and she wants that growth too.

While she does not have the Caged Bird Seal, Chi knows that’s only due to who her sensei is and not because the clan has changed its mind. Hinata is doing her best to change the Hyuuga’s ways after the war, but at the very beginning of the story, it seems more unlikely than not. Chi and the rest of Team 6 are about 6 years younger than Naruto so Chi couldn’t have possibly been sealed on Hinata’s third birthday like Neji was. She was going to get the Caged Bird once she either finished the Academy and became a kunoichi or sometime later if she had failed. The only reason she didn’t get sealed immediately after passing the graduation exam is because a certain someone told Hiashi that Naruto was being considered as a possible jounin leader and Hiashi wisely decided to hold off on it. The Hyuuga compound is still standing… for now.

Kaito is my lil goblin. He’s a snot-nosed brat whose fear of losing another loved one and screwy sense of self/self-worth resulted in his constant trolling and mouthing off. A little hater who graduated the Academy with two full time enemies and one part-time enemy, an unrequited rival (unrequited on Kaito’s part, he doesn’t want it). Like Naruto, he is stubborn and very perceptive of others’ emotions, but while Naruto clawed his way to acceptance and changing the way things are, Kaito is more content to crash and burn in the status quo. As a result, he does not have any big dreams or goals. If Tsurigane’s story is about learning to constructively use strength for herself and on behalf of others, and Chitose’s is about learning to let others in without making herself small to accommodate them, then Kaito’s story is about finding internal peace and taking the chance that the past won’t repeat itself.

I definitely spent too much time trying to think of what I wanted the other rookies besides Team 6 to look like. There’s three other rookie teams, and Shikamaru is the jounin leader for one. I just hope that they’ll be liked when I have enough written that I’m comfortable posting so I don’t have too much dead time in-between chapters.

And because I can… NaruSaku for the main ship. Team 6 ships it.

OTPs and NOTPs have less to do with the ships and more to do with the characters

(Disclaimer: I’m speaking in extremely general terms and there are exceptions amongst ships/shippers. I’m also not trying to devalue or insult ships, or claim that one ship/shipper is somehow better than another. This post is meant to be an observation, not a judgement.)

I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that, at least amongst the most popular ships in the Naruto fandom, many ships have very little to do with the dynamics between two characters and more to do with one character getting their “happily ever after.” This is most apparent when you pay less attention to what a shipper is saying and more to how they’re saying it. A lot of ships are described using character-centric language.

(Disclaimer: I’m not saying don’t listen to what’s being said ever, otherwise you’ll never understand their thought process, I’m just saying that you can learn just as much about a ship by listening to the language used.)

SasuSaku is a Sakura-centric ship where Sakura gets the man she wants while simultaneously winning against all the other girls fighting for his hand. This is why in the retsuden Sasuke is so out of character and is sometimes referred to as “whipped for Sakura” by fans.

NaruHina is a Hinata-centric ship where Hinata marries the man she’s pined after for so long. This is why the last focuses on Hinata so much and Naruto is treated as an incredibly dense knight in shining armor.

NaruSaku is a ship that goes either way approximately 60-40. Naruto-centric shippers want Naruto to anchieve every dream he’s ever had and Sakura-centric shippers want Sakura to settle down with the person who’s been so dedicated to her. (I say either instead of both because I very rarely find shippers that vocalize the benefits for both parties.) This is (one of the reasons) why so many NaruSaku fans were surprised that it didn’t become canon; they think that Naruto’s wants weren’t prioritized or that Sakura’s character arc is incomplete.

SasuNaruSasu I’ve also seen go either way but it is largely a Naruto-centric ship where Naruto saves the man he spent so much time chasing after. This is (one of the reasons) why SNS fans think that the ship would’ve been canon if it were straight.

(I could go on, but that would take a while and I’m sure you’re smart enough to figure the rest out or do your own research.)

Why does the Naruto fandom often use the words “deserve” and “earn” despite that not being how relationships work? This is why. Why is one character more frequently used as a self-insert than others? This is why.

This is also where a lot of NOTPs stem from. There are a lot reasons why people don’t ship something or viscerally hate a ship, and this is one of the big ones. “Anti-” shippers often don’t like a certain character and don’t like any ships that favor that character, and they certainly don’t like any ships that favor that character over their favorite. This is why many Sasuke fans hate SasuSaku and SNS. This is why many Naruto fans don’t care for NaruHina. NaruSaku again is a slight exception in the way that some “anti-” shippers hate Sakura and don’t want Naruto with her or hate Naruto and want Sakura with someone else.

This is why I have personally blacklisted many anti-[enter ship here] tags. They’re full of character bashing.

Once again, this is meant to be writing out a general pattern I’ve observed. It’s not meant to be against any ships and I’m sorry if it comes across that way. This might just be me saying what everyone else already knows, but I’ve already typed it and I’m not going back.

By the virtue of the tag system not working properly like it used to on Tumblr, I am bound to see some of the anti NaruSaku stuff there too.

The majority of the times I ignore them because 1 - it's not people's fault that the tagging system doesn't work & 2) they are entitled to their opinion.

But sometimes I can't help but giggle at some of the anti stuff. Like, people would tell themselves anything in order to hate on NS or its fandom.

There was one who was particularly funny to me. That according to which we only care about Neji's death because it was in the way of NaruSaku or something like that. And if it wasn't that way we would hate his guts because we would find reasons such as him being Hinata's cousin or because he would get along with Hinata or - and I quote "not kissing Sakura's ass.

That particular person felt the need to mention that they don't ship neither NH or NS, by the way. And it might very well be true.

But experience taught me it's rarely that way. Because first of all, all Neji fans I have met don't even feel the need to bring ships into this.

If they do, the majority are pissed at NH for using Neji as their cupid when there could've been so many other ways to bring those two together.

Which leads me to think that particular person might very well be a NH/H fan under "Neji fan" clothes.

Because otherwise, why the need to bring ships into this? Especially since Neji wasn't used for our ship, but other.

Also, the fact that the next thing they bring into discussion was the fact that we would hate him because he is Hinata's cousin or he gets along with Hinata.

Like...the (i)logical fallacy in this particular case is what gives the person away that they might very well be NH/H than actually a Neji fan.

The person starts from the premise that we hate Hinata, thus by alliance, we would hate Neji. The core of their (i)logical fallacy lies in the "hating Hinata" part. And that's what gives them away. Neji was never the actual issue, but hating on Hinata or his relationship with Hinata. The issue was the assumed hate at Hinata, actually. Not Neji himself.

Not to mention the clear hatred they harbor against Sakura.

That right there gave them away on how they use Neji as a screen smoke for the sole purpose of spreading hate against the NaruSaku fandom and Sakura in particular.

Experience taught me that actual Neji fans don't even give a damn about Sakura or ships.

And like I said, I can't help but giggle at this facade.

At least own your hatred and your identity. Don't go around like wolf in sheep's clothes. Some of us have been shepherds for long enough to recognize you wearing the clothes rather than being what you say you are.

Man, the lenghts at which people would go to hate on the NaruSaku fandom is still something that amazes me to this day, despite being in the fandom for so long.

I'm on this fandom for aprox 13-15 years and they still go at it.

Like... Aren't you even tired of hating?

But hey, props to them for trying to come up with creative ways of expressing this.

PS: joke's on them, cuz anyone who knows me knows that the reason I considered giving Naruto a chance was a particular fight in the Chuunin exams. Aka Naruto vs Neji.

But hey... Let's mindlessly sprew hate towards the NS fandom, cuz who cares, right?

Christmas With The Uzumaki’s

Word Count: 977

Summary: It’s Christmas in the Uzumaki household! Shinachiku learns a new word. Minato and Naruto get’s in some serious trouble which Jiraiya is the cause for.

Warning: Mild swear words.

“Merry Christmas,” Naruto yelled to the household. Christmas was his favorite time of the year other than Halloween. He snuggled deeper into the blanket that he shared with his wife. Sakura ran her hands through his short blonde hair. She’d laugh every time he’d screamed about her pulling his hair from his scalp.

Naruto whined into her neck.“Can I open my gifts now?”

“You have to wait Naruto, Jiraiya sensei still isn’t here.”  Minato eyed his son as he rocked his grandson into a deeper sleep. He knew Naruto was getting impatient and so was his wife. They have been up for 3 hours now waiting on for the toad sage.  

Bang.

The front door was kicked in. “Listen up you chicks, open your beady tiny eyes, Be aware that it is me the great toad sage Ja-......Ow! Ow! Owwwww!.” His sentence was cut off by a very pissed Kushina. She had him in the headlock tossing him around like a rag doll.

“If you ever kick in my damn door again you will be six feet under with your damn books.” No one dared to stop her not even the fourth himself. They said Minato was feared by all of the nations but he feared his own damn wife.

“I….uhhh….brought….you…..’Gasp’….a new kitchen...set.” The fire in her eyes vanished in a split second. Kushina dropped the sage on the floor watching him gasp for air. “ Wow! A new kitchen set can I see it?”  

“How about we all come and sit because I want to open my present too.” They began to open their gifts. Kushina and Naruto were very excited about their new gifts. The kitchen set was vintage her favorite. Naruto got a new kunai set and waistband for Christmas. Sakura bought him a new wallet but he argued and argued that he wanted to keep his toad one.

“This last gift is for Naruto.” The perverted sage handed Naruto an orange box. He opened the box closing it quickly making sure that his wife nor mom saw what was in the box.

“I’d hate for you to have another Sakura running around here,” Jiraiya whispered into Naruto’s ear he then smacked the blond roughly on the back while laughing heartily. Naruto shoved the box of condoms deeper into the couch.

“Thanks for the condoms old man but I don’t need them we’re actually trying for another one.”

“ANOTHER BABY!? ARE YOU SERIOUS!?”

“Yes, another baby Jiraiya. Now keep your mouth close before Sakura-chan hears you.”

“Sakura dear, can you help me with breakfast? We are going to eat near the fireplace today.”  The two women walked into the kitchen leaving the three men alone in the living room. With his wife exiting the room he quickly tossed the condoms into the fireplace.

“That was half of my wallet Gaki!”

Minato huffed, “Sensei if he says they’re trying to have another baby then you should not complain about him burning the condoms.”

Jiraiya side-eyes Minato as he made his way into the center of the room. He made sure that his back was turned to the entrance so no one could see him but Naruto and Minato “Anyway, it was about time they left, now I can give you a sneak peek of my newest book.”

Jiraiya wiped out his new book trying to show the two. Naruto nearly jumps out of his skin once he saw the cover. It was two naked women making out.

“Sakura-chan would murder me if I brought another book like that home. Plus the cover of the book is so graphic”

“Umm...sensei I am quite fine I don’t think the wife would be okay with that.”

“Come on guys I wrote about a lot of boobies and there is an image of an actual pair of boobies!!”

“BOOBIES.” All of their attention was turned to the youngest Uzumaki in the room. He had just woken from his slumber. The older males had not realized that he was awake and fully aware of what they were talking about.

“No...No baby say, Daddy.”

“Daddy.”

“Good job Shinachiku”

“BOOBIES!” Shinachiku yelled it even louder causing his mother to walk out of the kitchen. “What did you say, baby.” she grabbed the young child and placed him on her hip.

“BOOBIES.” he yelled once again. Naruto nearly fainted out of his chair as he hears his younger son say boobies.

“Where did you learn that?”

“Daddy.” the young boy shrieked. Sakura’s brows furred together as she stared harshly at Naruto. Shinachiku pointed his plushy finger at Naruto and laughed.

Naruto tried to make his way to the nearest exit. He tried to remain cool and collect but Sakura’s eyes were burning holes into his soul. “I learned it from Dad Sakura-chan.”

Minato pointed his finger towards the older man. “I was forced to learn it from him.”

Jiraiya slowly stood and pushed his book into his cloak but it fell on the floor for everyone to see.

Shinachiku pointed to the cover of the book with his plushy fingers. “Daddy said BOOBIES!"

“What the hell! You are seriously a pervert! Why would you bring that kind of book in the house?!!” Sakura covered her son’s eyes before he could see what was on the book.

The old man began to make his way to the door slowly but surely “Umm I would like for all of my friends to attend my funeral but Sakura and Kushina aren’t allowed.”

“Why,” Naruto asked nervously seeing the fire burn in his wife’s eyes.

“Because they will be in prison for murdering me.”

“You’re damn right,” Kushina yelled, she ran out of the kitchen with a pan in her hand.

“Merwey Chriwsmas.” Shinachiku yelled as he watched his grandmother chase the old man out of the house.
