Minato and Kushina would name him something mystical and beautiful, hyperfeminine. He had long pigtails that Sasuke would pull on.
He’d show up to a mission one day, age 12, fully girl-ified the day before, but with a jackshit haircut. “Kakashi sensei I’m a boy now.”
Kakashi, done with everything, just wanting to go to the mission, “Okay, kid. What should I call you.”
He thinks for a second and, with the straightest face, goes “Naruto!”
Sasuke and Sakura lose their shit and Kakashi thinks he’s joking and tries to convince him out of it. “Like— the ramen topping?”
Naruto just grins and goes, “Like the ramen topping.”
And they do the mission and never speak of it again. Sakura fixes(?) Naruto’s hair to the best of her ability and now there’s just this weird little dude named after a ramen topping who has a fox demon trapped inside him on the team <33
Shikamaru thinks he looks very similar to the 4th hokage now that he’s cut his hair, though.
