OC Ship Week Day 5

A little late (for probably obvious reasons, I have no idea what possessed me to decide that drawing so many characters was a good idea)

Shisui, Tsunoko and her 9 adopted children for the prompt 'Family'

If you don't have your own family, fighting missing nin for kids to adopt is fine 😉

The kids: Naruto, Karin, Kimimaro, Lee, Haku, Suigetsu, Juugo, Shin and Sai

After the first week in the new, bigger house ended with the kids all making their way to her room throughout the night, Tsunoko gave up and turned one room into the Nest™, piling up all the spare mattresses, blankets, pillows and plushies in it. It has been the designated nap space for everyone since.

Naruto OC Ship Week Day 4

June 24th (Thurs) – Festival | Flowing

Next entry for the @narutoocshipweek!! Time for a small headcanon of mine about the Senju clan! This will definitely be touched upon in Akiko‘s story. These prompts are so much fun, I love exploring the story that way and introducing her 💖 All my entries will take place in a LATER place in the story! Akiko’s story doesn’t start with an established relationship. This is indulgent fluff!!

Tobirama didn’t like festivals too much.

It wasn’t as though he minded the occasions, whatever they may be, nor that he’d deny the amicable atmosphere these occasions brought, not at all. In fact, it was commendable - fortunate, really - that they all managed to loosen up once in a while and relax while the fires crackled, people laughed and the killing, the brevity of all the good moments they had was forgotten. 

No, he didn’t like what festivals seemed to do to his clan in particular: by Senju tradition, on special occasions like this, honey wine would be distributed amongst the members of the clan. Needless to say, battle-steeled warriors would gorge on both the opportunity to be complacent but even more so on the serenity the low content of alcohol the mead had.

In a nutshell, these festivals usually ended with a handful of inebriated individuals.

Tobirama couldn’t stand that.

Alcohol clouded the mind, it dulled his sensor skills should he choose to use them and last but not least it loosened up the tongue in most uncomfortable ways. Of course he’d speak his mind on any normal day, but slightly drunk people were either belligerent or flat out whiny.

And alcohol didn’t help Tobirama to tolerate either, really.

So he’d always brave the balancing act of enjoying himself and escaping a situation which would just get plain annoying. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. Luckily, after a few days nobody seemed to care anymore.

With a low sigh he watched his elder brother go for another round when a familiar voice from the side caught his attention.

“May I offer you a cup of honey wine, Tobirama?” 

Akiko’s obsidian eyes were glinting in the shining fiery lights and her bright teeth flashed an even brighter grin; mischievous and thoroughly happy. Both her hands held the aforementioned cup; she extended them slowly for Tobirama to take.

He unfolded his arms from in front of his chest slowly and found a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. “You may, of course, Akiko,” his low voice drawled; his hands rose up to take the cup from her.

She giggled heartily. “I’m honored and glad.”

Tobirama held Akiko’s gaze with the same mirthful smile as brought the cup to his lips, dipped his head and took a sip; the honey wine’s heady taste filling his mouth, followed by the warm sensation of alcohol just a moment later.

“It tastes extremely good, thank you,” he brings in the verdict then, his glance slightly half-lidded the smile more a smirk, then.

Of course he knew what this was.

And so did Akiko: In the Senju clan, the serving of honey wine to another person on such an occasion was more than just a treat: usually, it was to profess interest in the other party. Of a romantic nature, that was. 

She dipped her head again. “This is to a bright future and good fortune, then, Tobirama.” For a moment, she’d glance at him with the same shrewd grin - and then suddenly burst out in a giggle. Of course, she’d spoken the correct words of the old tradition, but given they had been involved for a long time now, it was entirely pointless.

He still felt charmed, though.

One of Tobirama’s eyebrows rose up slowly. “You seem to have had one or two of these yourself, already.”

“Possibly,” she wheezed. Her nose was a little pink. More likely three then, Tobirama observed silently.

Suddenly Akiko stepped closer and flung an arm around his waist; he barely had time to raise his own arm in order to drape it over his shoulder. By sheer luck, none of the precious mead was spilled.

“I remember my first festival here,” she murmured half into his side. “It was so funny.”

Instantly, Tobirama stiffened, albeit slightly as Akiko would feel every bit of it. He cleared his throat. That memory was rather intense indeed. “That’s one way to describe it,” he clicked his tongue.

“I’ll never forget your face - when you came walking over -”

“Yes, yes,” Tobirama cut her off swiftly, his hand rubbing over her arm firmly.

Alcohol did not just make others do silly things. Although he did not regret that one.
