I think melissa is insecurity that, by how blatant it is, becomes endearing. that's a foreign concept to two people who use cliché ways of dress and the attitudes that cling to hide all of their messy parts, and I think seeing those parts personified would almost be charming—like, "oh she doesn't know what hell is yet"
