Above, Pogonomyrmex barbatus I photographed on my phone 🤳

Also called Red harvester ants, they are a native insect of the Southwestern U.S., known for collecting seeds, which it stores in its nest for food. These ants are orange to reddish-brown, can deliver a painful sting, and are characterized by bare, circular areas around their nests where vegetation is cleared.

Forest meeting🌿🐖🌳

You'll need context for the video. We went to the forest near the city where we live now. The walk was wonderful: we found edible mushrooms, new locations, beautiful access to the river and a great mood🥰 And we also got acquainted with the unusual inhabitants of the forest😄 Having made a "halt" on a fallen tree, we were discussing the further route, when suddenly we noticed some movement in the distance. I've never seen anything like this in the forest before!😂 To be honest, I even thought that some wild boars had come to us, but they still turned out to be ordinary piglets😄😂 As it turned out later, there is a farm nearby, from where animals are allowed to walk.

It's funny now, but we didn't know how to behave better at that moment. Therefore, we decided to just keep calm and sit as if we had always lived here and they came to visit us😄 Of course, the piglets were curious🐽, but they passed by, keeping their distance. Little suns🥰🌿

Должно быть, видео требует контекста. Мы пошли в лес рядом с городом, в котором на данный момент живем. Прогулка была замечательной: мы нашли съедобные грибы, новые локации, красивый выход к реке и отличное настроение🥰 А еще мы встретили необычных обитателей леса😄 Устроив "привал" на поваленном дереве, мы обсуждали дальнейший маршрут, когда неожиданно в далеке увидели движение. Я еще никогда такого не встречала в лесу!😂 Честно, я даже решила, что к нам идут своеобразные кабаны, но все-таки это оказались обычные поросятки😃😂 Как позже стало понятно, неподалеку расположена ферма, откуда выпускают животных погулять.

Сейчас смешно, но в тот момент мы не знали, как себя лучше вести. Поэтому решили просто сохранить спокойствие и сидеть так, будто мы всегда здесь жили и это они пришли к нам в гости😄 Конечно, поросятам было любопытно🐽, но они прошли мимо, держа дистанцию. Маленькие солнышки🥰🌿

sadly not many reptiles. its definitely snake time of year by now but no. i went to a new creek but no turtles either. also no lace monitors or eels (both of which i have seen). there was a shirtless man lying face down on the grass though.
