Michael “Mike” Thane - Fallen Aces

“You have a headache? I have the perfect solution.”

The man would give his own mixture of alcohols and assorted medicine

You should probably refuse the drink

He has dealt with headaches enough through both of his careers, so he wouldn’t try to push you to work or force you to get better quick

Mike would actually be helpful, insisting you stay in his apartment if you guys live separate

He would take any work that you needed to finish, like another detective case or tending a bar or any career you have

Mike may be an ambitious and driven man, but he isn’t stupid

Enderman - Minecraft

Brother can’t speak any human languages, so they wouldn’t understand when you tell them what’s wrong

Enderman would probably be confused and worried about you when you get dizzy or irritated at the pain 

They can’t understand your words, but they do recognize pain, a universal feeling 

Prepare for multiple grass blocks to appear next to your bed 

They would hover nearby your bed, if you have a tall enough roof, or outside your base

Hermes - EPIC: The Musical

“A headache? Dahling, you mortals are so fragile…”

Hermes would offer to get Apollo to fix you right up immediately, making up some random excuse about owing a favor

If you’re on Apollo’s good side, you’ll be right as rain immediately 

If not, or if the sun god is busy (or just mad at his half-brother), then I suppose you’re on your own with the other deity

Hermes would spend his time with you, offering ways to cure boredom without increasing the headache

Most likely rambles on about random stories to help you sleep and stop all thinking to lessen your headache

With his luck and favor, the headache should leave quick… unless he keeps talking /j 

Tron - Tron

“A… headache? Like… buffering?”

This stoic program of strength of diligence… oh he is so amazing

Having a headache would assume that you are a User, or maybe just a faulty program

Tron wouldn’t understand the feeling, being a literal program

But goodness, he would try his best

He’s not obliviously idiotic with it, but rather curious and questioning 

Before Legacy, Uprising, and Betrayal, Tron is more a gentle and protective program that isn’t fully briefed on the anatomy of Users

After being around Flynn for ages, though, he was given basic understanding of Users

Tron would follow your advice mostly, but would also urge you to take it easy and relax

He is a security program; of course he’ll make sure you are fully healthy and operational

Ahkmenrah - Night At The Museum

“A headache? Let’s get you some rest; I can arrange for anything you’ll need.”

He is so kind and careful with you, knowing that modern humans can’t be revitalized with ancient spells

Ahkmenrah makes sure that you have somewhere to lay down comfortably, already having the other exhibits sent out to get blankets, water, pillows, medicine, etcetera

Teddy can manage the museum dwellers for one night surely

He’ll lay next to you the whole night, humming quiet lullabies he remembered from eons ago, or whispering stories that he would never forget

Ahk will even take it upon himself to order the exhibits to return to their areas, with the help of the tablet, of course

By morning, he knows you’ll both have to go back to where you belong, with you returning home and him sitting back in the sarcophagus 

But for the night, he could at least help you recover from cognitive pains 

V1 - Ultrakill

He’ll give a whirl of beeps and code, not exactly understanding what you mean

Are you hurt? He can get you some blood!

Yeaahhh, expect a lot of blood and gore to be honest

You can’t blame the machine, though; he is programmed to rely on blood as fuel and a healing source

You can try to explain that you don’t need blood, but the insistent bot might not care or even attempt to comprehend your point

Well, it’s the thought that counts, right?

Silent Salt Cookie - Cookie Run Kingdom

“A headache? What caused this?”

Pre-corruption

Salt is protective; he cares for literally everyone 

But with you, he indulges in just a little more favoritism

As much as he denounced the idea of playing favorites, the commander has always given you a little more care, subtly, of course  

While he does help you lay down and relax, he also wants to know the cause too

What’s the use of a solution if you don’t know the origin?

If you have a genuine answer, he’ll solve it as quickly as possible

Too bright? You can pull tapestries over the windows of the upper rooms

Too loud? He’ll walk you to a quiet room deep in the keep and away from any bright lights

Stressed? You can leave training early just this once to take a walk and a breather

If you don’t have an answer immediately or you just don’t know, that’s alright too

Salt will do what he can to help you out while not being overbearing or becoming the cause to a second headache

He truly cares for you; it’s just difficult to prove it sometimes

Joyous Things

A/N: very short and sweet, just something to get me back on my feet in writing <3

His eyes, a beautiful golden brown, were narrowed with distaste as he held your hand with close examination. You could not help the light giggle at Ahk's most adorably scrunched expression.

"Ahk, what are you doing?", you asked curiously at his antics.

Ahkmenrah and you had been sitting peacefully together in an off hallway of the museum, idly chatting about anything and everything as you chipped away at some craft project. In complete randomness the ancient Pharaoh had reached out for your hand, something you were quite used to at this point in your relationship. He held you with such delicacy in his own palm, beautiful fingers rubbing over the many contrasting textures of your own hand. Textures that had built up over time from use, something that Ahk could not help but to feel ever so slightly agitated about.

"Were we in my time, you would never know a callus or cut. Your hands would be soft like the shore of the Nile, and only the finest lotions would grace your finger tips."

A deep blush colored your cheeks, your eyes looking down shyly as you maneuvered the hand being held to instead hold Ahk's hand in turn.

"That's really sweet Ahk, but I hope you know that I enjoy making things. I don't care how my hands look when I can make something amazing with them you know?"

A hum of understanding echoed from Ahk, his mind recalling memories of the many craftsmen from his dynasty and the beautiful creations they could make. Your hands worked tirelessly not because they had to, but because you wanted to, and that Ahk found truly admirable. Still, he could not help but wish to spoil you as he would if you'd been his Queen when he ruled.

With delicate kisses to each of your finger tips, your inner palm, and then your wrist, Ahk smiled adoringly.

"I simply wish for you to never have to lift a finger, but I am happy that you have found something in your life to make you so joyous. You are very amazing your craft, that I can see without doubt."

You giggled once more, leaning forward to an eager Ahk, the absolute smitten of a man meeting you half way to receive and return your sweet kiss. After a tender moment, you both gingerly pulled away, Ahk reaching forward to carefully admired your art as you rested against his side.

"I'm glad I found that joyous thing, too.", you mumbled, eyes admiring not your project, but the beautiful man beside you.

Summary: A new exhibit enters the museum.

A/N: DENIAL IS A RIVER IN EGYPT-

Slowly, you allow your eyes to flutter open. Unnatural light blinds you for a brief moment before your senses manage to adjust.

Panic takes over as you take in your environment. It's not at all like the lagoon you remember. The large rocks you used to lounge on all day, now replaced by lightweight, oddly smooth replicas.

Behind you, instead of the usual sun caressing your skin, now stands a poorly imitated painting, complete with a few gulls in the distance and a palm tree.

Turning back to face the rest of the strange room, you notice an odd man in a grey suit trying his hardest to talk to you. He seems oblivious to the fact that the glass barrier between you makes it so you can't understand a word.

Another man joins him, decorated in gold jewellery and fine fabrics. They exchange a few words while you, fed up with being ignored, try and get their attention.

When raising your voice doesn't work, you do the only other rational thing you can think of and break the glass, which gives way surprisingly easy.

The three of you stay silent for a second, taking in the shards scattered all across the floor. "Aw man, if you would've just said something I would've opened the door." The grey man sighs in defeat, placing his hands on his hips.

"I did, you didn't listen." You scoff, shifting your weight on your unstable, fake rock so you can cross your arms. "Also, where am i? And who are you?"

The man in gold straps forward, glass crunching beneath his feet. “Our deepest apologies.” He starts, straightening up. “Please, forgive us for forgetting our manners, I am Ahkmenrah, 4th King of the 4th King." He bows his head slightly in greeting.

"And I'm Larry. Just Larry, hi." He waves stiffly at you with a tight-lipped smile.

Your eyes flit suspiciously between the two men in front of you as you hear them out. “Hmm, go on.”

“It’s a bit of a long story, but you are the new wax exhibit of the American Museum of Natural History, brought to life.”

“What?!”

“Yeah, so we know from experience this isn't the easiest thing to grasp,” The man in grey scratches the back of his neck. “So is there anything we can do to make this all a bit easier, orrr…”

“Wh- no!” The actual audacity of this man. “I want to go back to my lagoon!” Larry flinches at your words and makes a hissing noise. “Okay, so we don't exactly have a lagoon in New York...”

You throw up your hands in frustration, letting out a panicked scoff. Ahkmenrah taps Larry on the shoulder and they exchange a few whispered words before Larry turns back to you. “So, while we don't have a lagoon, we do have a lake.” He offers nervously. “Would that do?” Ahkmenrah asks, figiting with his hands.

You take a deep breath through your nose, closing your eyes as you try and rub your beginning headache away. “That's the best you have?”

“Yeah.” The men nod in uncomfortable agreement. “Fine.” You sigh. “Put me in the lake, I guess.”

“Great!” Larry claps his hands together. “Let's just, get you-” He steps closer, reaching out his arms in a feeble attempt to pick you up. You slap his hands away. “Don't touch me.”

“Fair enough.” Larry exclaims, putting up his hands in defense. “I'll get a wheelbarral, told you we didn't need Teddy.” He smacks Ahk’s shoulder before leaving the two of you alone.

"Is he always like that?" You question absentmindedly as you watch him leave. “Yes, but don’t let his demeanor fool you; he’s the guardian of this place.”

You only hum in response. “He’ll take good care of you, as he does all of us.” The sincerity in his voice makes your heart skip a beat.

Eventually, Larry returns with the wheelbarrow, and with greater struggle than you'd like to admit the two men manage to help you into it.

Ahkmenrah offers to be the one to take you to the lake while Larry mumbles something about taking care of the glass.

You almost feel bad, but the second you feel the cool water on your scales, you feel all your worries wash away.

You swim a few laps, revelling in the feeling of the water flowing against you, until you notice Ahkmenrah in the distance, watching you from the shoreline.

Leasurely, you float over to him. “Thank you for this.” You murmur, looking up at him from the water.

“Don’t thank me too much." He sighs. "We have to be back inside before the sun rises.”

“What, why?!” You exclaim, definitely not ready to go back inside, to your fake rock and painted sun.

Ahkmenrah chuckles humorlessly. “That is the limit of the tablet, I fear." He murmurs. "If we don’t we’ll be nothing but dust in the wind.” There is a far-off look in his eyes.

“Tablet?” You repeat. “Yes, the divine magic of my tablet is what brings all of us to life each night.” Huh.

“So.” You reach over to trace shapes across his forearm. “I ought to worship you now, oh great wielder of the tablet that has given me life?”

“Tha- that's really not necessary…” He stutters, his eyes refusing to meet yours. “But you are not opposed?” You tease.

You raise yourself out of the water, close to his face. Ahkmenrah's breath hitches at your proximity. “What, you’ve never been kissed before?” You question, only half teasing as you back up a bit.

He chuckles, his confidence rising again. “Please, I was a king once, I used to walk among my people as a God as they threw themselves at my feet.”

“So you wouldn't mind the offering of a kiss, my king?” You smile, leaning in just enough to leave him an out.

“A little one wouldn't hurt~” Ahkmenrah whispers before closing the gap.

You breathe each other in as your lips dance in perfect unison. You barely even notice your arms wrapping around the back of his neck as you slowly start to dip back into the water.

“AHK?!?!”

The museum always got a little rowdy. With so many different time periods clashing together, it was a wonder the place hadn’t burned down yet. Tonight the feat actually seemed obtainable. Larry Daley spent a good portion of the night chasing around the cavemen, trying to get his lighter back before they figured out how to make it work.

He was on his own in the pursuit, simply because Teddy insisted that Larry needed to do it on his own. Besides, it was found quite amusing to a specific pair of Egyptians.

The queen and king enjoyed traversing the hallways on a good night, but catching a glimpse of Larry sliding around a corner and nearly faceplanting just made the walks better. One slide in particular caused Ahkmenrah’s love to giggle hysterically.

“We should probably help.” She said carefully between laughs.

Ahk smiled, taking her hand in his again. “Maybe. But Larry is resourceful. I’m sure he’ll figure it out.”

It wasn’t even five minutes later that the two had heard Larry call down the hallway triumphantly. There he was, directly outside of the Egyptian exhibit, lighter in hand, while the caveman sulked. It took her a moment to realize that Larry had set a trap with a big pile of… well she wasn’t exactly sure. But it was everywhere.

“Ahk, what is that?” She pointed at the white globs that coated the floor, “It looks almost like seafoam.”

It seems that Larry lured the neanderthals with the fire extinguisher foam. Typically it’s used to put out fires, but this works too I suppose.” He explained, trying to cover his laugh. It appeared that the group could leave at any time, but she figured that Larry probably caught them off guard. It looked like they had been throwing it at each other.

As Larry shooed the cavemen away, he turned to face the royal egyptians. “Sorry about the mess, it should be cleaned up before you both have to turn in for the night.”

The pair shared a look before she spoke, “Sunrise is already approaching, do you have servants?”

While Larry said words that she did not know, Ahk gently corrected the ancient queen. “Servants are not much of a thing nowadays. Most people will just do it themselves.”

She nodded, albeit she was a little confused. While she had been semi aware of the passage of time, it was strange to see how much had actually changed.

By the time her attention refocused Larry had already disappeared, likely beginning to wind down the other exhibits. Carefully, the pair stepped around the foam, and entered their “home.”

They didn’t make small talk, they didn’t need to. Although they did have to bite back a laugh when the two laid eyes on one of the anubis guards. It appeared that it got a little too close to the neanderthals, as there was a hunk of foam sitting on the end of its snout.

Together, Ahk and his lovely lady, began to prepare themselves to lay down back in their cramped sarcophaguses. A while ago, they had decided to ditch their wraps altogether, so their nighttime routine was just a couple of kisses, and Ahkmenrah assuring his darling that Larry would have their coffins open before they would wake.

“Larry hasn’t missed a day yet.” He reassured, planting a kiss on her nose. “Our guardian has never forgotten me, and he won’t forget you.”

She gave a shaky breath, and gave Ahkmenrah a proper kiss. “You will jinx us one of these days.”

“Nonsense. Larry rescued me once before, and he cares for us. Just as much as Dexter, or Teddy.” Ahk replied, as he helped her get comfortable in her sarcophagus. “Besides, we are too loud to be forgotten for more than 5 minutes.”

A short laugh echoed through the exhibit, “I think that is just you. I have not had a reason to be loud. Not for at least 4,000 years.”

Neither of them thought about that night. She was loud because of Kahmunrah. Both of them knew that, but refused to dwell. So instead she leaned up, pecking Ahk again.

“Goodnight my precious king.”

“Goodnight my fair queen.”

There was a whirr of sounds, kids laughing, adults talking, and silence. Just like any other vague memory of the daytime. Although she could not make out Larry’s voice. Most of the time he would hum a tune while unlocking their golden tombs. But tonight neither of them could tune into it.

It was not long after that short absence, that the magic of the tablet briefly lit up the inside of the sarcophagus. For just a moment, she could watch her limbs strengthen, her bones begin to grow healthy flesh. The queen had to admit, it was cool.

Pressing her hands to the cool underside of the lid, her heart nearly stopped. It did not give way. The sarcophagus would not open. She tried again, pushing harder, but still there was no result.

“Larry?” She called out, her voice shaking. “Larry!!”

She heard someone respond. She swears she did. But her ears started ringing. Drowning out everything but her own thoughts. She hardly felt her hands curl into fists. The loud thumps oddly comforting, but not quelching the new found tightness in her chest. As hot, wet, tears began streaming down the sides of her face, the queen wondered for a moment if she’d drown in them. She didn’t entertain it for long, someone had begun to yell.

It felt like time was crawling by, and the air was so thick, she practically had to drink it. When all at once, her world went white.

It took a moment for her eyes to adjust to the blinding light. But when they did, she was met with the face of her lover. Ahkmenrah’s hands hovered beside her face for a moment. He was practically bug eyed, his cheeks slightly damp.

Bolting upright, the two almost hit heads. But Ahk was quick to lean backwards, and place his hands on top of hers. Now hidden from view, the queen’s knuckles had turned white from how hard she was gripping the sides of the sarcophagus.

The sudden adjustment was a lot, but when Ahk leaned in, guiding her hand to feel his chest rise, the world began to move again. The ringing had begun to soften, while she began to settle.

Ahk was now sitting directly in front of her. She didn’t recall him climbing up into her space, but it steadied her more than expected. Softly, his voice pierced the silence she was swimming in.

“Darling, please. You have to breathe.”

The sharp, and shallow sounds of her breathing were now painfully clear to her. There was no benefit and it made her stomach uneasy to be practically the only sound in the room. To ease the constricting pain in her throat and lungs, she tried syncing her respiratory system with Ahkmenrah, forcing air down her windpipe.

Even though it was a struggle, eventually she got there, Ahk taming her panic. The couple sat in silence as a hot shame creeped up the back of her neck. She couldn’t believe she’d done that. It was so appalling to think that she, once a ruler of Egypt, had reacted so poorly to being confined in her own sarcophagus. As the tips of her ears turned red, Ahk scooted closer. He pulled his wife into his arms. Pressing his lips to her cheek, as they began to rock back and forth. In the close proximity, it was easy to tell that Ahk had been crying too. Bringing her hand up gently, his lover wiped at the tear track, removing the leftover tears.

“Are you alright? I’m not crowding you, am I?”

“No, no. I’m okay. This is what I need.” She leaned back into Ahk. “I told you we’d jinx it.”

The dry attempt at humor broke away at some of the tension. A small huff of a laugh eased the two into more of this comfort. After a moment, Ahk responded delicately.

“He didn’t forget. Apparently, he fell asleep at the front desk. He woke up a few minutes before sundown. He was trying to lock up the lions when we woke up.”

She nodded in a less than satisfied understanding. Larry was good to them, but it was like he had poured ice water over her head. It was something that was bound to happen, but feeling the walls of the sarcophagus close in around her was… awful to say the least. Instead of allowing herself down that rabbit hole again, she sucked in a breath.

“Thank you for being here, Ahk.”

“Anytime, my beauty.”

Ahkmenrah x Reader: Fingersnaps

Synopsis: Kahmunrah is definitely the kind of person to snap his fingers at people.

You were forced to your knees with a cry as your brother in law stalked about your chambers.

"I won't ask you again, Y/N." Kahmunrah sneered. "Where. Is. The tablet?" He leaned down as he spoke, nearly brushing your nose with his. You glared at him in silence. "I know you know."

You spat in his face. Kahmunrah leapt back with a snarl. He raised his hand to strike you, but was interrupted by one of his personal guards entering the room. He mumbled something in Kahmunrah's ear, causing a smile to curl his lips. He turned to you. "Our guest is here." He snapped his fingers, and the guard holding you hauled you up and shoved you forward. You were led into the dining hall, and you gasped..

Your husband was bound and gagged at the other end of the table. As soon as he saw you being led in, Ahkmenrah began to struggle violently, his shouts muffled behind his gag. You were sat down across from him, and Kahmunrah roughly untied the gag.

"Let her go, she has nothing to do with this!" Ahkmenrah shouted. Kahmunrah tutted.

"I'm afraid I can't." He said. "She's my bargaining chip. And we're going to play a little game." He snapped his fingers again, and two guards came forward, each of them placing a chalice in front of you. They were both filled with a dark liquid. "See, these are both filled with poison. Now, either you drink yours willingly and thus relinquish the throne to me and therefore the tablet," He looked over to you. "Or she drinks hers."

"And how will she do that?" Ahkmenrah asked. Kahmunrah snapped his fingers for a third time. The guard closest to you grabbed the chalice with one hand and gripped your face with with the other, forcing your mouth open. "Okay! Okay!" Ahkmenrah shouted, his previous bravado gone. "I'll do it," He sighed. "Just don't hurt her." Kahmunrah grinned. "Let her go." Ahkmenrah ordered. When Kahmunrah did nothing, Ahkmenrah repeated himself louder. "Let her go, or you get nothing."

"Don't do this Ahk," You begged. "Think of our people!" He didn't meet your eyes.

"I can't let him hurt you." He mumbled. "Now let her go!" Kahmunrah rolled his eyes.

"Fine, fine," He snapped his fingers at one of the men behind you, who loosened the ropes around your wrists. You gingerly brought your arms around, rubbing your wrists. You smiled shakily at your husband, who gave you a weak smile in return.

Then you turned to Kahmunrah. "You should've listened to your king." Before anyone could stop you, you lunged for your chalice and knocked it back.

The last things you heard was Kahmunrah's roar of anger and Ahkmenrah's wail of despair.

When you woke, you were confused. The last you remembered, you were sure you drank poison, because Kahmunrah didn't bluff.

So what were you doing in this box?

You heard footsteps, and froze. You held your breath as the lid was moved.

"My love," You heard a soft whimper.

Tears sprung to your eyes and you reached up.

Beads 🧿

-> when you bring beads and strings to entertain the exhibits, Ahkmenrah expresses all the creativity of an ancient Egyptian

Being a part-time night guard at the Natural History Museum of New York had good and not so good sides. Concentrating in school after a night shift was hard, especially when the exhibits of said museum came to life every night and requested more attention than a bunch of puppies. But having a very sweet ancient egyptian pharaoh as a boyfriend made up for all of it. And as much as you would like to just spent all nights cuddling with Ahkmenrah while stargazing or hearing stories about how his life had been 4000 years ago, the other exhibits needed entertainment and you couldn't just leave all the work to Larry. Thus you often brought movies and snacks to the museum so the exhibits could catch up on historical events or simply pop culture, as well as trying various snacks and drinks.

You could well remember the day, when you had stepped into the museum, iced vanilla latte in hand, since it was a hot summer day and a long night shift was awaiting you. Ahkmenrah had instantly insisted that he had to try your drink. The end of it was, that you had to sneak him out of the museum and bring him to a coffee place that had some kind of shopping night, so he could try out as many kinds of coffee as possible.

But today you neither brought snacks nor drinks nor movies. Instead your artistic side had decided on bringing a few boxes of beads of all sorts, so the exhibits could express their creativity. Together with Larry you had prepared the lounge corner of the museum. Couches pushed together into a circle, tables full of bead boxes, strings and some scissors. You had also chosen a special playlist for that night, so it wouldn't get too boring, plus many exhibits, including Ahkmenrah, just loved to listen to music, especially Ahkmenrah, because he wanted to learn as much as possible about you, means your music taste too.

When the sun set and the exhibits came to life, the hall began to fill.

"Y/n?", you heard your favorite pharaoh's voice and quickly turned around.

A bright smile was plastered on your face as you ran into his arms and hugged him tight, while he wrapped his fairly strong arms around you. His warm scent of ancient papyri, sunbaked stone and oriental spices enveloped you, as you pulled back a bit, to gaze into his soulfull, grey eyes.

"Hey, Ahk", you grinned.

He smiled at you, then placed a soft kiss on your forehead, for which he had to lean up a bit, since you were around the same height, which gave you a perfect look at his sharp jawline and the soft olive skin of his neck.

"What did you bring for tonight, merit? Coffee?", he asked, hope shimmering in his eyes. Your heart stumbled at the word merit, it did everytime he called you that, since he had explained to you what it meant.

"Nope", you grinned, and as you saw the flicker of dissapointment in his eyes, you took his hand and led him to the lounge corner, "Let me show you"

Larry was already supervising other exhibits as they were creating bracelets, necklaces or, like in Sacajawea's case, more artistic peaces of jewelry. Even Jed and Oct were using some of the smallest beads to make, compared to them, huge pieces of jewelry.

Ahkmenrah's eyes lid up at the sight of the beaded pieces. Ancient Egyptians loved bead work, so much you knew alone from looking at his outfit, but of course you had done deep research about that civilization.

"I always wanted to try bead work", Ahk beamed, "But my father always deemed other activities more necessary for me"

You smiled at his glowing look, "Then let's get started, Ahkie"

He gave you a sheepish look as you used the new pet name, then took place on one of the couches and began to work.

You watched his elegant fingers string small beads together, but when he noticed your look, he quickly hid his work in his hands and send you a kind of reproving glance. You smirked, shrugged your shoulders and went around, instructing new arriving exhibits, helping others when there was a problem and gathering new seating options with Larry, since the number of new arrivals was constantly increasing. Even the huns and vikings joined in on beading some jewelry and in the end you spend much less time with Ahkmenrah than you intended to. Strangely he didn't seem to be bothered by it, since he was deeply concentrated on his work, which he hid everytime you glanced his way.

Shortly before sunrise, you and Larry usgered all exhibits to go back to their places, promising to bring the beads again the next night. You walked up to your boyfriend.

"Ahkmen? You want me to walk you back to your place?", you asked, avoiding words like exhibit or tomb. He was a real human after all and it wasn't his real tomb, plus he didn't really like being reminded that he was in fact dead or treated like a dead man walking.

Nodding he answered, "I'd love to", then offered you his arm.

You felt the muscle of his biceps under warm skin under your hand, while you walked together with him. He hadn’t shown you his work yet, so you decided on carefully asking, "And did you enjoy yourself?"

He nodded, "Very, it was much fun, thank you"

"I'm sorry that I couldn't spent more time with you", you say.

With a smile he shook his head, "It's fine, you had much to do and I was a bit busy myself, I wouldn't have expected beading to be that complex"

You smile, glad that he didn't get upset that you weren't around that much, but still a bit dissapointed that he wouldn't show you what he had crafted.

When you arrived at his exhibit, you took off his crown as always to place it in the glass display cabinet. As you turned back around to him, you saw how his eyes flickered nervously between you and the floor.

"I.... eh... wanted to... to give you something", he stammered, what you weren't used from the eloquent pharaoh.

But you simply smiled and nodded encouraging. He fumbled at his belt and loosened a beaded string from it. Of course you didn't notice his work, when he hid it between all his normal beaded jewelry, smart boy. He extented his hand, on his open palm there lay a beaded bracelet in ancient egyptian style, but crafted with the beads you brought.

Shyly he looked at you, a small blush creeping up his olive cheeks, "I made this for you"

Your heart, once again stumbled, before you carefully took the piece of jewelry like it was a treasure and looked at it.

"It's beautiful", you breath, voice cracking because of emotion, before you wrap your arms around Ahk's neck, "Thank you, merit", you whisper, for the first time calling him the name he always uses for you. You feel him freeze for a moment, then bury his face in your hair.

"Nothing compared to your beauty", he answers, matching your whisper, "You're as beautiful as the first blossoms of water lilies on the nile", while he nuzzles into your hair.

And again your heart stumbles and tears prick in the corners of your eyes, while a wide smile appears on your wobbly lips.

"You should go to sleep", you murmur, not trusting your voice right now, but sunrise comes closer anyway.

Nodding he pulls back a bit to look at you, his gaze drops to your lips, before he leans in and connects them with his. His kiss is soft and sweet as always, but this time there is a hint of longing in it. When he pulls back, he places a soft peck on your forehead, before letting slowly go of you and turning to his hated sarcophagus. He climbs in and you help him closing the lid. Softly you knock against the decorated wood until sun floods the hallway infront of the exhibit, so he's not alone in the dark until he turns back into a mummy.

And today as you walk downstairs to help Larry tidy the lounge corner, your heart feels lighter with Ahkmenrah's present on your wrist.

Ahkmenrah & Male Night Guard!Reader (platonic)

The museum has been quiet all night. Well, as quiet as a museum where all the exhibits are presently alive and running around are. You’d hurt your ankle helping Dexter down from a beam when he’d climbed too high last night, so tonight everyone was being calmer than usual, mindful of their injured guardian. Rexy, even, was curled up around the front desk where you sat instead of running around and playing; acting like a big guardian and ensuring no one bothered or jostled you.

You were seated still, aware and watching, as the resident night guard at the Museum of Natural History. These exhibits were your charges, after all. But you hadn't yet seen your favorite, the pharaoh Ahkmenrah. You'd gotten into a fight with him after hurting yourself last night. He'd been the one Dexter ran to get help from after you'd fallen. The poor little monkey had felt horrible seeing you hurt, and was also curled up, tucked against your chest.

Everyone had come by to check on you, all the way from Jed and Octavius to the civil war soldiers. At least, that's what you thought they were doing, considering they didn't speak. But still, no pharaoh. The argument had brewed from him snapping at you for being careless after wrapping your ankle (with what you had to double check weren't mummy bandages) and all but carrying you to the front desk. Last night, you two had shouted at each other a good bit, but tonight? Total no show.

Dexter was also with you not only because he was worried for you, but because, according to Jed and Octavius, Ahk had snapped at him too, for getting you hurt. If the pharaoh ever deigned to show up, because you were not hauling yourself up on a sprained ankle to get into another fight, you were going to give him a piece of your mind. But he would have to come to you. And so far, Ahk was not doing so. Stupid pharaoh.

Teddy had stopped by to console you, saying that Ahk was just like that when he got worried, and hearing that you’d been hurt had scared him. You were still upset though, because that gave him no right to shout at you. So there you sat, at the front desk of the museum of natural history, with a dinosaur curled around you like a guard dog, and a monkey cuddled up to you, little head resting on your shoulder.

Nearly half your shift passed, sitting like that and watching, talking to the museum inhabitants before you finally hear it. The tell-tale swishes and jingle of Ahk’s jewelry as he walked up behind you. That, and Rexy rattling ominously as she turned to watch him. Truly, an oversized guard dog. But you knew whatever he was here for had to happen, because you didn’t plan on quitting any time soon, and Ahk wasn’t likely to be moved.

So Rexy let him pass, and there he was. The Pharaoh Ahkmenrah, fourth king of the fourth king, ruler of the land of his fathers. Currently standing in front of your desk and looking rather like a kicked puppy, shifting on his feet. He just stood there, staring, watching you like he was looking for permission to speak. Perhaps that's what he needed, but you didn't intend to speak first. So you just raised an eyebrow, watching and waiting.

And speak, he did. A young king, four thousand years old, and hanging his head like a shamed boy. Gone was his regal demeanor in that moment. "I am... sorry. I should not have spoken to you as I did. You have been nothing but good to us. I was worried for you and it scared me when Dexter told me you'd been hurt."

So you sat there, listening, watching him and speaking nothing yet. Two young men, separated by four thousand years and only a few feet. If you two had been born in the same time and land, you would have likely been friends, tied together even more than you are now. Upon his name being spoken, Dexter chittered angrily from his perch in your arms.

When he did, Ahk flinched in front of you, and upon your nod of permission, leaned down, speaking again. "You too, little friend. I am sorry for snapping at you. You didn't mean to hurt anyone, did you? You were just playing. It was not right of me."

Upon having his own apology, Dexter chittered once more, leaping from your hold to Ahkmenrah's. The little capuchin nuzzled up against his throat, cuddling close. You smiled faintly at that, finally speaking. "I guess he forgives you. So I should too..." You wince a little when Ahkmenrah looked back up at you, half pouting and looking so hopeful. Your good graces are an important thing here. "It's okay. Still was a dick move though."

He nods again, sitting down next to you. "Yeah. A... dick move. Just hearing that you'd been hurt was so... I don't know."

All you do though, is nod. You've worked here for long enough to have the unspoken communication you do with most of the museum inhabitants. Ahkmenrah though, despite the spats you get in occasionally, has always been your closest friend here. He'd been the one to help you establish your connections upon the others here.

Halfway through the night now, it's you two sitting together as if you're two kings perched on your thrones, holding court with anyone who comes through. Dexter had moved back to your lap, delicately carding his little fingers across your shoulders in an attempt to comfort you. He does that, and Ahkmenrah holds your hand, rubbing one thumb over your knuckles.

It's nice, knowing that you've built enough trust and unity here that you can be mostly incapacitated and the museum will still function. These are your friends, your people, and as they go about their nights, and even Dexter leaps off to go play for a bit, Ahkmenrah stays by your side, holding your hand. He stays, and by your request, tells you about Egypt and his life, voice smooth and steady. It's a good place you've built here, following in the footsteps of the guards that came before you, and you're glad to stay.
