The Old Oak Tree - by #NatureDetective Erin
There was an old oak tree, Which still had long to survive, It was home to Goldfinches and Dunnocks, And other birds that thrive. I looked upon it one day, And saw how the branches grew in its own way, I saw a Collared Dove perched on one, So I looked at the tree every day. Then one bright afternoon, When the Robin was singing on the hut, I heard clashing, banging and sawing, The old oak tree was getting cut! The poor wildlife that live there! I got the woodcutter's attention with a hop. Then I told them what I've seen in the tree, And eventually they stopped. There was an old oak tree, Which still had long to survive, It was home to Goldfinches and Dunnocks, And other birds that thrive.
