it would haveee to be kinich who's coughing up flowers!! i can't imagine kinich not being intensely in love with the princess!!! but i think the idea of a princess who's sick of yearning because the one thing she wants doesn't want her back is soooo scrumdillyumptious hehehehe
okay if i can be honest w you guys….
a long long time ago in a land far far away i wrote a xiao fic called “the light we saw”. and like that is also a knight and princess au (can you tell i love that au), but i always had an idea that there could be an alternate ending to that fic where xiao dies.
and imagine xiao’s post as the princess’s guard being filled by kinich, who falls in love with the princess the more and more he cares for her. and at first, he thinks that she just might love him back, until one night, he watches as she cries over a picture of xiao. and he realizes that it wasn’t truly him that the princess was looking at with those warm, adoring eyes—it was only the parts of him that reminded her of her former guard.
