It was a bit of a struggle getting out of my warm comfortable bed this morning. I knew my body was feeling a bit fatigued and allowed myself to sleep in until I felt ready to get up and run. That feeling never really showed up and after 12 hrs of sleep I got off my ass and out the door. . There would be no mountain hills today as with two weeks left until the race, I decided it’s time to taper and keep things relatively flat. I’d run a familiar 21k route mixed with road and trail focussing on pace and going slow for the first half. I wasn’t feeling like pushing to start anyway. . Once I found my rhythm on the Coquitlam trail about 8k in, I was finally feeling ok to open things up a bit.
