Background: Excelsior’s crew included Mr. Nano at communications and Commander Chekov as navigator. Starfleet ordered Excelsior to intercept Enterprise, when it was believed she had gone rogue and was stirring up trouble inside Klingon space. They found the ship under attack by several Klingon warships and forced the attackers to withdraw. There she told her former Captain, Christopher Pike, about her orders. He surprised her with the revelation that their former shipmate, Mia Colt, had emerged from the year 2254 and needed to be returned to Algol, deep within Klingon space. She couldn’t aid him further into Klingon space but would cover for him while he finished his mission
