This is the Galaxia, the ship Phoenix and gang are stationed on at the start of the story. It was sent to explore regions of deep space, and discover new planets and life, unfortunately they were discovered first by the Nebulons, who attacked the ship, and sent it hurdling into the planet below, a planet called Caprolite

Fanplane: Sicarius Nebulons and Gender

The Nebulons are a sequentially hermaphroditic aquatic species who dwell in the Nebula. Their physical forms conform to their self-perception for the most part! Sirens are the "male" Nebulons, and have wings and tails. They're known for being the best at traversing space. Merfolk are the "female" Nebulons, and have arms and legs. They're known for being the maintainers and caretakers of the settlements within the Nebula. Siren-Merfolk are bigender, and somewhat rarer. They're often seen as being good go-between between Merfolk and Sirens. And some people's genders don't fit on that spectrum, and they're often seen as possessing unique talents, to match their unique bodies. Suckered tentacles, chitinous claws, shells, and many other traits exist that signify their own sort of identity. These gender identities of course, exist on a spectrum, and can be quite fluid, with features and traits mixing and matching, but many also find one that they enjoy for the rest of their lives.

I just had some white knighter WHO'S NOT EVEN IN NEBULONS tell me my OC is too close to a Nebulon and I need to change it... BUDDY THEY DO NOT OWN THE RIGHTS FOR COLOURFUL DRAGONS WITH SPACE MOTIFS AND SAILS

Like my OC doesn't even look like an Nebulon that much and like I get protecting closed species but y'know don't go harassing random people over something you think

In short, only if Alkemistry asks me nicely then yeah I could switch some things if they think my OC looks like a Nebulon

Speaking of the Nebulons in the G1 cartoon, the weirdest part is that they knew about humans enough to recognize them on sight... But not Cybertronians. However, there are no examples of humans doing deep space travel without them.

I wonder about that. (Or I'm thinking too hard about an 80s cartoon meant to sell toys to kids.)
