In the time of Flesh necrontyr got some night clubs (totally different for royals and commoners but this is another story).
Music trends and whole vibes was very different from dynasty to dynasty.
Maybe Ithakas had light pop and dance/electro pop and most common activity was drinking something, sitting comfortably and chatting with your besties, occasionally taking breaks to actually dance. The whole place painted in pastel tones with occasional bright colored highlights and has high fashion glass and mirror statues, colorful light reflects and scatters in bizarre pattern. Whimsy + comfortable, never overwhelming. Vip cabins full of colorful cushions and exquisite drinks, there's chill lo-fi beats there so you're kinda in your own private mini club. Great for flirting or gossiping the living shit out of your court.
And then there's night club in Ogdobekh. Heavy techno with the mix of hardbass blasting though flashing lasers and smoke so hard that you can feel your guts and soul mixing together with every beat. Drinks are rare occasion, there's separate bar section bc alcohol here is strong and after one glass you're already lowkey blasted and can't dance those wild dances properly.
Vip cabins provide sensual detox - it's chill, dark and quiet there. No one here usually wants to load their head with secrets after experiencing intense music and loading 6 tequilas. There's only room for rest here, then going back to grind or leaving home, no third option.
And I think Djoseras would die in Ogdobekh nightclub. Zultanekh would die in Ithakas club too, of boredom
With her shard of the Void Dragon, Nehetari has the power to rescue some damaged tomb worlds that would otherwise never reawaken. This is her "official" purpose in the Undying Army. Whenever a tomb world is discovered damaged beyond even Szarekh's ability to fix, he brings his daughter and her companions in.
It's especially helpful for diplomatic reasons too; not all dynasties are too pleased with the Silent King for one reason or another, but MANY of them are still besotted with their Mehlrose. Having her face be the one greeting a new tomb world as it awakens tends to ease things over with more antagonistic dynasties.
Especially since, you know, the last memory many of these overlords & phaerons had of her was her funeral; watching the levitating mourning barge carry her emaciated, cancer-corrupted, stasis-bound body out of the palace to the great black monolith that would serve as her tomb.
Hello, I’ve have question regarding the anatomical differences between a necrontyr and a human. How similar are the two species internally? If I remember correctly in a previous post you mentioned that a necrontyrs possesses additional olfactory receptors beneath their eyes. How many other organs or features does a necrontyr possesses that a human does not?
The anatomical differences between Nehetari and Peter Turbo would be pretty drastic due to Mr. Turbo being a primarch, a gene-forged Demi-god, and thus would be filled with all kinds of weird gobbledygook organs of functions unknown.
Hello, this is the Mun here:
Necrontyr internals are not as different from a human's as you may think (almost startlingly similar). They were warm-blooded creatures that produced milk to feed offspring that they gave birth to live. They had a mouth and digestive tract similar to humans, a complete circulatory system, a hormone-based reproductive system, an advanced nervous system centered around a brain, a calcium based skeletal structure... ...you get the idea.
However, this is where the similarities start to divert. As you know, their homeworld was what the modern day Imperium would have classified as a Death World. Like if Catachan, Krieg, and Baal all got together and had an even more radiation blasted, moistureless baby. Much of the Necrontyr anatomy was shaped by their homeworld and the fauna (and scarce flora) that inhabited it.
For example - Necrontyr blood contains a natural antifreeze and temperature-regulating compound that prevents them from freezing to death, even in sub-zero desert nights (they sort of half-freeze then thaw out in the morning). It also helps prevent overheating during the day. This is essential because they do not have sweat glands (water is too precious); instead of sweating they pant sort of like dogs do on Earth, or if it's really hot they can go into a low-activity state where their body slows down to produce less heat.
Another survival trait of the Necrontyr is in their vocal folds: they are capable of a much broader range of sound production than humans. Nehetari herself can mimick just about any sound she hears, from the sound of a bolter report to the tiny, near-inaudible sounds that come from the waves of energy traveling through deep space. It is believed this evolved during the ancient days of their race, when being able to mimick the sound of an oncoming rockslide or a bigger, angrier sand strider was one of the only things that could save you from becoming something's meal.
On the topic of meals, the Necrontyr digestive system is designed to process large amounts of meat and fat quickly. This, paired with their naturally razor-sharp teeth, seem to suggest that the ancestors of the Necrontyr were originally carnivores, which slowly turned omnivorous over time. Meat was more plentiful than edible plant life on their homeworld (lots and lots of insects). The reason why Nehetari hates sweet food is partly caused by this naturally low-carb diet - the Necrontyr body can quickly become overwhelmed when too much sugar enters their bloodstream, as they cannot regulate it properly.
And lastly (for now at least): it's not an internal trait per-se, but it's not an apparent one either. Necrontyr feet can grip almost was well as their hands do, but what's more, they actually change their shape instinctively (or intentionally, if they so chose) depending on what surface they're standing on. From the top, and when standing on a hard, flat surface, the Necrontyr foot looks almost identical to a human's save for stubby claws instead nails. However, from the bottom, Necrontyr feet look almost like that of a gecko. Those many folds can shift, unfold, and re-arrange themselves. When standing on a soft and unsteady surface like sand, the sole of the foot spreads out and becomes more flexible, making movement easier and more stable. When standing on a rocky or uneven surface, they grip it with their toes, and the folds form a sort of dry-adhesion bond to the surface, allowing them to better cling on. They can't walk up 90-degree or perfectly flat surfaces, but they are absolutely stellar climbers. (It was a good thing Necrontyr got so used to being on flat surfaces as they became more advanced. Else, they would have spent the first thousand years or so as Necrons constantly falling off shit. The pads did not accompany them into their metal bodies).
I have many other headcanons for Necrontyr specific biology, but these are my favorites so far.
can you share a little about 9, the anathrosis headcanons?
Oh you here for a ride!
I've researched slavic folklore and gods like A REAL LOT and found interesting symbolism that suits Anathrosis well. Also her homeworld Tamar - is the name of real queen with title of king, how cool is that!
Anyways:
1. Anatrosis wears monochrome outfits. Full black, black and white or black and copper for official meetings with other dynasties.
2. In Ogdobekh black is considered a female color of fertility, witchcraft and safety of night. White, on the contrary, is the color of death associated with winter and deadly daylight giving turbo space cancer.
3. Title of the “Black Star” through symbolism and duality stresses her personal struggles, such as gender identity (if seeing Star as Sun: in many cultures Sun is the male deity while moon is female. Male deity plus color with female meaning), complicated mother-son relationship (as Black Star neither warm, not giving light for you) and her dynastic rule (Here I see Black Star as reversed tarot card “The Star”. This arcana symbolizes lost chances and opportunities, self-doubt, pessimism, doom and shattered dreams. Anathrosis lost her chance to conquer Ithakas back, lost connection with her son in a some way and became paranoid for the rest of her un-life. Suits well)
4.The main palace in which Anatrosis sits is located deep underground in the bowels of the planet. Only the most trustworthy members of her court know about this, Zultanekh included. Nobles from outside Tamar are unaware of this, as they enter the audience halls through a masterfully built-in portal gates and for them the transition is seamless. There is a decoy palace on the surface of the capital which is inhabited only by some of the court crypteks and guards, where the main entrance to the throne room actually teleports you to the real underground residence of Anathrosis.
4. At some point Zultanekh's personal ships started to have pre-configured gates that allowed him to visit the throne room of Anatrosis without landing on the surface of the planet. The gate only works at a certain proximity to Tamar.
5. Blue is considered a masculine color. Anatrosis has long insisted that Zultanekh wear blue as his color in formal attire. However, Zultanekh stubbornly wears copper, green and red colors. Which is adding points to his weirdness even among the dynasty’s court members.
6. I see Anathrosis like a tough butch, very tall and broad both in shoulders and hips, with sharp face features and predatory gaze. The ultimate war chief and blacksmith. She’s descended from the brutal dynasty (spartan and vikings vibes) and took her title of phaeron (masculine one) with power and extreme violence.
7. She hid her pregnancy (I headcanon necrontyr as hermaphrodite race), duelled Unnas while being in 5th month carrying Zultanekh. Won and fuelled old feud anew.
8. Also there’s a real life Georgian queen Tamar who was the first woman that ruled in her country and thus earning the title of king. I like it and maybe want to give to Anathrosis same… career path
9. Anathrosis' personal ship is called Khors (pronounced like Hors) in honor of the slavic god, dual deity of the sun and moon. But her battle cairn ship is named Tchernobog (lit. “Black God”) - god of misfortune and bad fate. Her beloved consort (and Zultanekh’s father) commanded almost similar cairn ship named Belobog (“White god”) but was slain in battle which kinda reinforced the superstition that white is the color of death.
10. Many internal lamentings about death of her beloved + symbolism of riding a ship named after god of bad luck
11. Anathrosis loved sparring sessions with her son and even joked that he should be at peak form when it will be time of her regicide. “For the sake of the duel not being ended in one minute with you on the ground, of course”. Then the older she got, the less she joked about it and at some point stopped sparrings with Zultanekh at all.
12. “Nine months in my womb making me suffer and he looks like his stupid sire!”
Zultanekh takes a lot after his father and it hurts Anathrosis a lot. Maybe a main reason why she can’t handle the company of her son too long

Damn writting and translating got hands
Small Orizyn piece about them finding their ancient marriage certificate. Plus some oc insertion and speculation about necrontyr marriage traditions.
Revisiting The Infinite and the Divine I was wondering:
why was Trazyn dining at Sautekh's phaeron palace (Orikan told him to count silver after every time the archeovist visited them) not once, but several times?
Why did he have free access to Orikan's library at Mandragora, the capital of Sautekh?? (if we take that his memories of Trazyn dragging him to biofurnaces was the right one) Yes he could sneak into his library and do that, but according to the Twice-dead King, biotransference furnaces were a public place. Doubt that Trazyn would be welcomed by Sautekh guard or Red Marshals (if Sautekh had them) even with the Diviner at his bridal carry grip. A member of a rival dynasty shouldn't be walking around the capital city of the rival dynasty
And ofc why are those two bastards sharing the same color palette for their bodies?

As it was said in the TDK book, Djoseras was the an average in comparison with Oltyx. And Oltyx was bit smallet than Zultanelh. I like to think that even in a necrontyr era Djoseras would easily be smaller than Zultanekh, a perfect opportunity for size difference shenanigans.
I also [again] headcanoning necrontyr's customs and traditions.
The idea of the special dance haunted me a long while. The dance that forms a message by its dancers and should be performed flawlessly so the meaning of the message would be clear to other royals wathing them doing it - this is the stuff that could fit perfectly to the Ithakas court and maybe to some cryptek cohorts.
But like... if you spent a significant part of your life on the battlefield, then it is logical that some part of the noble customs were not taught to you properly. Both Zultanekh and Djoseras could be lacking some parts of noble court education.
For example, Unnas would not teach Djoseras of the mirror dance stanses, because he was not going to allow his son marry someone equal, hinting at marriage within his own dynasty, where there would be no one above the status of elder kynazh.
Anatrhosis wouldn't to teach her son of mirror dance because she has a negative attitude towards this tradition. Anything that indirectly looks like crypteks witchcraft and has hidden meanings disgusts her. This dance probably banned under her rule.
So it would be great if Zultanekh and Djoseras could help each other fill in the gaps in knowledge after they became close.
"Her Majesty," he buzzes, "wishes to inform this galaxy..."
He checks the dataslate again as if to make sure he'd read it correctly.
"...that she is now accepting... ...asks...?"
Offstage, Nehetari sighs internally. She would have happily squandered a personal belonging or two and bought Trazyn to be her personal announcer. Despite the epochs, his voice was still pleasing to the ears.
However, it seemed the Nihilakh's "Great Collector" was as eager to avoid her as any eccentric who had attacked their crown princess in a deranged fit of lunacy would be. That, or he was simply avoiding the High Consort.
While it rarely ever happens, you can easily identify a surprised Necrontyr by their widened saucer-sized eyes, dilated pupils (to get the most visual information possible), open auxiliary olfactory ducts (below the eyes), and flared nostrils.
However, most striking of all is the change in the ears. While usually folded to protect the highly sensitive hairs and eardrums beneath, when alert the ears lift, exposing the softest downy fluff in the galaxy; with an ability to sense things like changes in air pressure, wind currents, temperature, and even the most subtle auditory cues.
*WARNING*: Touching the ears or highly sensitive fluff is seen as an extremely intimate gesture. If you try this on a Necrontyr you are not familiar with, you will likely be smacked (or killed, depending in the circumstances)
