ℂ𝕆ℕ𝕋𝔼ℕ𝕋 : Michael Jackson 34 years old & Y/N 30 years old. Concert. 1991. Thunderbolt struck, Munich-Germany, vacations, late night concert, POV from Michael to Y/N.
Summer 1992,
Munich, Germany
It was hot as fire itself, yet a cool breeze kept sweeping across the open stage, tugging at Michael Jackson’s long curls and blowing them into his eyes. He and Slash had flown in for one purpose only: to film the official music video for their new unreleased song, “Give In to Me.” Michael still couldn’t believe he was doing such a huge favor for his new friend, the legendary guitarist of Guns N’ Roses.
Slash, as always, showed up with messy hair and sleepy eyes. He slipped on his signature dark sunglasses, lifted his electric guitar, and began scratching out the opening riff. Michael stood beside him, eyes fixed on Slash’s hands, mumbling the lyrics under his breath and gently correcting every note whenever the flow slipped. Slash had clearly been out late the night before, but Michael already knew about his bad habits. He never judged what other people chose to do with their lives, as long as the work stayed smooth and professional. Still, this was only a one-day shoot, and that fact made Michael a little nervous.
Slash could hear the tension tightening Michael’s voice. He smirked, gently placed his fingers over the guitar strings to silence them, and let out a heavy sigh. Looking straight into Michael’s eyes through the dark lenses, he spoke.
"Michael, relax. I am not going to waste our one shooting and I promise I'll be sober tonight and we'll nail everything in one take. Ok?"
"I’m sorry for being a pain in the butt, Slash. I’m just stressed. Ever since we landed, I’ve had this knot in my stomach.."
"Have you had breakfast?"
"You know I never miss it. It’s not food. It’s… How do you say it? When you feel like something big is about to happen…?"
"You mean.. Bad?"
"No… No, no, no… Nothing like it. More like an inexplicable force of something weird… Ugh let's just drop it…"
"Whatever you want, Mike. But seriously, don’t worry. I got this. A promise is a promise, and I always keep mine."
Michael let out a slow sigh and smiled softly, nodding in agreement. He patted Slash’s left shoulder gently and stepped off the stage to grab some orange juice. The endless interviews since they’d arrived had left him exhausted. It was June 1992—just two days before he would head off on the Dangerous World Tour. Five years after Bad, he was still burning with the need to prove himself. This time, he had promised himself, this album would be one of his greatest.
Lost in thought, he took another sip of the now room-temperature juice. His eyes squinted at the bitter taste, and the lean muscles in his neck stood out as he swallowed. Oranges were never very sweet this early in the season, but he preferred the natural tartness to anything artificial. As he gazed around, the world suddenly went silent.
His legs refused to move. His breath caught. Every sound, every color, every scent vanished. For the first time in his life, his pupils dilated with pure, thunderbolt astonishment as he looked across the road at the outdoor tables of Rosi Coffee & Bar.
There she was.
She stood out instantly—dressed in black, white, and red. Tight charcoal-washed jeans hugged her curvy hips, a sleeveless red turtleneck blouse perfectly embraced her torso, and white platform sneakers completed the look. A black leather backpack rested on her shoulders, and silver mirrored Ray-Ban sunglasses—identical to his own—sat on her face. She looked extremely hungry, holding her stomach and making playful, dramatic gestures with her hands while her friends laughed. They had all ordered butter-filled pretzels and cold pineapple juice. As she took a careful sip, one of her friends accidentally bumped her. Juice spilled across the table. Her friends quickly wiped it up with napkins, giggling at her hilarious poker-face reaction—knocking her forehead and pretending to be dramatically annoyed.
Michael chuckled, his bright white teeth flashing as his eyes sparkled with delight.
One of the girls in the group noticed him staring. Suddenly all four of her friends flushed bright red—except her. She simply turned a cool, poker-faced glance in his direction, then looked away again, completely unfazed, munching on her pretzel like any other tourist savoring every moment of her vacation.
*Why isn’t she looking at me?* he thought, his gloved right hand absently scratching the back of his neck.
He took a deep breath and forced himself to look away, but his big brown eyes kept darting back to her. From the corner of his eye he saw the other girls in her group begin to scream with excitement. Footsteps approached the stage. It was one of the producers, fresh from the airport, ready to go over the final details.
Michael shook the man’s hand and smiled politely, but every few seconds his gaze slipped back across the street. He chewed the inside of his right cheek, trying to stay focused
*Look at her… She doesn’t even acknowledge my existence… What in the world…*
"Thank you, Brian. I’ll make sure to follow everything. What about the backing vocals—have we checked the sound?"
"Everything is under control, Mr. Jackson. Don’t worry about it. Shall we continue the rehearsal?"
*God, I hope she sees me...*
He glanced down at the floor, then shyly back toward the café. The table was now empty. The group had disappeared. Michael stood up quickly, hurried back onto the stage, and shielded his eyes from the bright afternoon sun. His eyes widened the moment he spotted the flash of her red blouse in the distance. He gave a quick signal to the audio engineer to turn on the microphone, tapped it twice, and cleared his throat.
The crowd around the square erupted into fresh screams. The group of women turned toward the stage, their excitement exploding—except for her.
*Here we go… Hello, poker face. Wanna play hard to get, huh? Okay, lady… Now listen carefully to what I’m about to say*
Smirking, he adjusted the microphone and looked straight at her. Then he raised both hands dramatically and announced with electric energy::
"GOOD AFTERNOON GERMANY!!! WE ARE SO EXCITED TO BE HERE TODAY!!"
The crowd kept screaming. She covered her ears—pretzel still in one hand, the other pressed firmly over her free ear—while smiling at her friends who were losing their minds over the King of Pop. Michael’s smile widened.
"TONIGHT WE ARE GOING TO PLAY HERE, ON THIS STAGE, IN MUNICH, GERMANY OUR NEW UNRELEASED SONG "GIVE IN TO ME" SO PLEASE FEEL FREEEEEE TO JOIN US. THE ENTRANCE IS COMPLETELY FREE OF CHARGE. WE ONLY ASK ONE SMALL FAVOR FROM ALL OF YOU"
Crowd kept shouting uncontrolably as Michael giggled his way through the screams, covering his mouth and nose shyly making a small circle around the microphone stand holding it steady and bit his lower lip while staring at her. Then he catch himself again losing his mind, he shook it off quickly and kept on announcing:
"THIS ISN'T JUST A CONCERT. TONIGHT WE ARE ALSO FILMING THE OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO FOR THE SONG. WE NEED YOU TO HELP US MAKE THIS DREAM COME TRUE!! SO PLEASE.... WILL YOU HELP US?"
Looking shyly down and back to the crowd, everybody shout
"YEAAAAAAAAAH"
"WHAT?" he teased softly
"YEAAAAAAAH"
"ONE MORE TIME BUT LOUDER!! IS THAT A YES?"
"YEEEEEEEEEEEEES"
People screamed happily with a loud clapping. He smiled and giggled widely, pressing his hands together signaling "THANK YOU" and sending kisses to all of them!! They kept screaming "I LOVE YOU MICHAEL" and boy how much he loves his fans..
"I LOVE YOU ALL TOOO!!!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU SO MUCH!! THANK YOU!! WE WILL SEE YOU TONIGHT AT 11PM SHARP!! DON'T MISS IT!! SLASH AND I WILL BE THRILLED TO SEE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU HERE!!"
Bowing to his fans, he stayed straight down and then backed up slowly. That was a move that was causing people to faint and cheer even more. For a minute his eyes darkened. He stared at her to make sure she saw him and listened to him. Finally their eyes met... The right side of her lips raised a bit in a form of smirk and he mirrored her moves. He winked quickly at her, the four girls from the group of five went crazy as two of them even faint by his move. He chuckled once more as he saw her, trying to gather everything within one moment of following like a domino hillarious accidents. She desperately tried to fan her friends with her now empty pretzel napkin, lots of crumbs fell on them and lean down to help them both. Turning her head around to see him, Michael kept staring at her curvy angle of her body with a small devilish smirk and then bite his lower lip slowly this time. Giving her a single nod at her and the crown, he bowed once more and then vanished backstage into his cabin to rest for the big night that was about to happen....
