My partner is at Guy's Night with the boys and I'm living up to my reputation apparently
idly listening to my partner play death stranding (2?) and I hear:
"hm... bird murmuration."
(after a minute "or two) "This is SUCH a cool effect- OH THEY ARE NOT FRIENDS!!!"
My peach tree has made MAYBE 10 peaches in its entire 12 year lifespan. I remember going out to the death orchard and checking for blooms, and seeing nada this spring, so I left it alone until Sark came home this weekend and asked me what was wrong with the peach tree. I came to see, expecting maybe lightning struck it, or blight hit it, or something horrible.
Instead, it was SO laden with peaches that it looked like a weeping willow tree.
So, we cleaned some bus bins and took ourselves out there and picked them all off, soaked them for a couple of hours to get rid of most of the bugs, and then Sark and I scrubbed them all thoroughly to clean them. I spent the rest of the day pitting half of them and cutting out the useable parts of the peaches while Sark cleaned up after the picking/cleaning and prepped the fermenting bucket.
We'll have more than enough peaches to make two 5-gallon buckets of peach wine! Most of them are not really good for eating, so that seemed like the best route. I did set aside that bowl with some of the nicer looking ones, and I think I will end up making a peach-cherry jam with them, since I STILL (somehow????) have cherries from last season in the freezer (where.... how.... I pulled SO MANY BAGS of cherries out to make jam this spring with my mom..... and somehow there's more....).
Is Sark a nickname or named after someone? Only asking bc every time you mention him, my brain defaults to picturing him as Sark from Tron and it gives me a laugh imagining an evil computer program doing mundane things.
You should continue to imagine him as an evil computer program doing mundane things, imo

my partner asked why I'm not breeding Eris and i told him, she's too smart. she's smart and she's a horrible little criminal (affectionate). I put her into the barn pen - you know, the pen that successfully held birds for 8 years without problems - and that little shit took one (1) look at the mechanism we use to let ourselves out of the pen if we accidentally close the door (since it auto locks), and let herself out until we had to uninstall it. I've been locked into the pen twice since and had to call for help. She took one look at me and said There's a Sucker and she was right. She knows more words than some human toddlers. I gave her the ability to press buttons to speak and she used them to mock me for forgetting to put water in her wet chow the previous day. She taught my second stupidest bird how to press a button to ask for a treat. I can't breed her because I refuse to be outwitted by a 10lb sack of feathers with an attitude and if she had smart children to teach crimes to I might not have a choice.
my partner is in the kitchen LOUDLY stabbing a knife into the sugar bin and I asked him why and he told me "because I need sugar" like an asshole and I said yes but WHY do you need sugar at 10am on a thursday, and he says "because I'm making syrup" and i told him carry on, and he returned to stabbing the sugar and then stopped and said "In a few minutes I'm going to ask you how much vanilla extract this needs, are you going to be able to handle that"
sir, no, absolutely not
I've been looking forward to this game for a long time, and I told Sark about it not long ago because I saw it was coming out soon. I came in from bird chores this morning to find this on the screen and the game controls sitting on my chair.
