Today was the first week of our second term so basically it is the first day of classes of our subjects. Every Tuesday and Friday, we have our PE class. So the first meeting started today. At the moment we entered inside our room (F704), I felt happy and contented because of the full-view window. We enjoyed watching over the window while we wait for our professor to come. Our previous professor in the same subject came to visit us so we thought that he was still our prof for this term until our real prof came. He showed us the picture of his grandson who really looked like Bugoy Cariño. He then started our orientation with a prayer, asked Amytee to buy index cards, and let us introduce ourselves. After that, he also introduced his self to us and let us make our performance index card. We fell in line and made groups. He instructed us to make a name for our designated groups (until midterms) with its mission and vision. After 10 minutes, we played a game called "Bahay, Bata. Bagyo" and we can't stop laughing throughout the game. Our first day turned out pretty good and we headed home with a smile on our faces.
Today I realized how simple things could make us happy, like the simple view from the window or a glimpse of a person or even a mini game for all. I learned that even though we are already in college and we get serious about some stuffs, we still need to have fun, relax and enjoy the little things that's happening to us, because these things makes us feel at ease and these things helps us to become a better us. We must learn to appreciate tiny wee things because these are called blessings. No matter how big or small it is, no matter if it is good or bad, what's happening to us are blessings from above, and it didn't happen without any reasons. It's God's plan for us, and we deserve it even though we think we don't. :)
We have no classes for this day. It was suspended due to the observance of All Saint's Day and All Soul's Day.
Before starting our first lesson, we met our new classmates for this subject. They introduced themselves and Sir Gali let them choose which group to join. Kuya Rico and Kuya Paul were added in our groups. After that, sir asked Paulane and Alvin to be partners in front so that he could explain how to do the steps, but Paulane hesitated. Sir Gali then picked Lhercy because we say so. We stood up and Sir let the boys pick their partners. Kuya Marc became my partner and we started practicing the 5 steps that he gave us. He told us to add 4 more steps and to pick a song suitable for our dance. We will perform these next week and it will be our first quiz. Sir gave us time to add more steps for our dance. We then fell in line and sir gave Neil a plus 20 in his index card, I was shocked for a while because I don't know why Sir did that, but then I thought maybe because he was the first to obey the rule that Sir gave us: to fall in line. We were separated in two lines in an alternating gender and Sir told us to lay down. With someone filming us while we raise our hands, we crossed Neil (in a lying position) to the other side by simply lifting and moving him with our hands. Kurt was laughing so hard and I was laughing too (almost all of us were!) but I'm a bit worried because I'm thinking what could happen if Neil falls down. Thank God it didn't happened. After we finished, we were dismissed.
I thought that this day told me to have trust and never worry about something, like the verse in the book of Proverbs 3:5-6 which says, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." :)
Today we will be having our first practical quiz, but before Sir give us a time to practice, we had a new set of classmates again and they introduced themselves to us, and picked a group they preferred. We then started practicing for period of time and we got to be the first one to perform. Thank God we didn't make any wrong steps. After we perform, another professor was inside the room and he asked me to bless on him. She knows my sister, and he told me that my sis always do that to him so I must bless to him too. His name was Sir Lupac and Sir Gali told us that he was the general. I was the one to choose the next group to perform, until all the groups were able to present their dance. We didn't have enough time to play a game but Sir Lupac's witty stories were enough to put grins on our faces before the class dismiss.
Today I was reminded again that we can never have all we want because life or time us unpredictable, though some things won't happen if it weren't for the things that should happen but didn't. :)
We practiced our second lesson for today and that is cha-cha. I can't help but laugh during our practice, my happiness just strikes abruptly. Ian is my partner and we both laugh while practicing the steps. We thought the song "Sway" will be the real song on our practice, but it was another fast song that I forgot the title. It made me laugh even more, I don't know why, I guess I'm getting crazy. We planned to find a song for our quiz next meeting and we picked "Bang Bang." Angelique and Ian already made some steps but we didn't get to master it because it's already time, and we didn't get to play a game again.
I think that in order for us to get what we want, we have to be very patient for it.
Today is our second quiz and that is all about chacha. Some of our members were not able to come, we thought that we were only 4 that will be performing, but thank God the two boys were able to attend the class, so there are already 3 pairs of us that will be performing. The first group to perform was group 4, followed by group 2 then group 1 and we were the last to perform. Sir Lupac was there again to make our smiles (or laughs) burst. We didn't have a game again but Sir promised that we will have, so hope's up!
Today I learned that by doing things on the right time will make you more happier and less stressed. I also learned that being tactful is important. :)
Today we learned how to dance sway, it is just like chacha so we got the steps easier. Ian was still my partner and we enjoyed the dance much. Sir Gali said that we don't have to add more steps to the dance, we just had to add grace to it, and the song would be the same by group, too. It was Domino by Jessie J. We were happy because we just have to master the dance and add grace to it, thank God!
Because we gained relief by not adding more steps to the dance, I learned that everything has to happen in their own respective ways at a certain time that God wants us to have or to earn :) I remembered the scripture in Ecclesiates 3 that says "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the Heaven..." I guess it was our time to just enjoy and master the dance and not to think of any new steps to it. :)
Today was our quiz to sway. Some of our classmates who were absent last meeting attended today, so they had to learn the new dance in a jiffy. I think everyone got the dance because we kept practicing for the first hour. The quiz isn't like our past quizzes. Because of the bigger population of the boys in our room, Sir decided to just have a draw-lots. Some girls will get to dance again in order for the other boys to have their partners. They will gain additional grade for that matter. Alvin became my partner. We were the first batch to dance. I thought was better so that we wold be able to finish earlier. No more hassle. The boys of the last batch were able to pick who they want to dance with. Then after some time, we were dismissed.
Because of the strategy that Sir Gali made, today I learned that things happen that way because we chose it to happen that way. Even though this world and everything that happens to us is in God's plan, He still gave us he opportunity to chose what we want to do, and in the end, what we will reap, we will harvest. :)
Today, we were formed in a new group for midterms. We first started the day by praying and exercising, then making a line with our original groups. The boys were told to go at the end of the room while we girls were told to go to the opposite side. Sir said that we form groups with 5 members by gender. Sam and Angelique were together so I brought Lyra with me and went to them, then Lane followed us. After making a little group, we girls were asked to pick a group of boys. We were the first one to pick a group so we really picked who we thought were the best, plus we already know Alvin. Kurt, Gelo, Ian and Vince except the other guy. This was the only subject that we get to have the same so I really don't know who he was. We were to pick two representatives for each group, a girl and a boy. It was Alvin and Angelique who went to Sir and knew the directions. We were to make a dance with two kinds of ballroom dance in it. We just finished talking about the kind of dances we will perform and what song to chose from when another member was added to our group. And after a while, it was already dismissal! :)
Well I think this day made me realized that the little choices we make has a great impact on us, may it be good or bad. I also remembered the quote "Time is gold."
It's our first practice for our midterm performance for next Friday, and thank God we already finished the steps, actually Angelique made it and she taught it to us outside the room. After some time, we already finished the song. We just need some more polishing. We got back inside the room and tried practicing our steps. It feels good to hear compliments about it, but we know we still have to master the steps next week. We chilled for a while then Sir gave us a slightly early dismissal so that we could get to gain the energy we exerted faster.
Today I learned that being patient and hard-working at an early stage would make life real easy in the future. Cooperation is also a key to success. And fun, we always have to take things in a not-so-serious way, we just have to enjoy what we have and use it so that it would grow and it would absolutely help others too.
