Islamabad—Nasir Iqbal’s fate to participate in the friendly squash series against Egypt to be held next month in Karachi will be decided after World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) final verdict on Friday. Nasir, was tested positive for doping on February 7 and tested negative in another sample only three days later. Nasir, who defeated his compatriot Farhan Zaman in the singles final of the 2016 South Asian Games, was asked by WADA to hand over his sample on February 7 on completion of the squash event. However another of his test was taken on February 10 which came out negative. A total of five Egyptian players will be coming to Pakistan on April 5 for the friendly matches series scheduled to be played from April 5 to 8 in Karachi. Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) players’ shortlisted for the series include Nasir Iqbal, Farhan Zaman, Tayab Aslam, Shahjahan, Farhan Mehboob, Asim and Israr Ahmed. Talking to APP, Secretary Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) Aamir Nawaz said the final five-member squad for the series will be announced after WADA’s final verdict against Nasir on Friday. “Nasir appealed to WADA for a B test and a decision in this regard will be announced by them on Friday,” he said. He said however we have appealed to the World Squash Federation (WSF) to allow Nasir to play in the friendly series as it is just a provincial suspension. “If the decision comes against Nasir then WADA will form a disciplinary committee in which he will be asked to appear before them and he will have to explain his position in which circumstances he took the minor illegal substance,” he said. Amir said we are hopeful that the decision will come in our best interest. “Any illegal substance, if taken, remains in the body for at least nine months but Nasir’s test taken on February 7 was positive and the one on February 10 was negative,” he said. —APP
dishing the cockroaches
Another good news-bad news dream… In the dream… I open the door to a dishwasher machine and find a litter of cockroaches inside. I immediately grab a vacuum cleaner and suck them all up. I then see a group of cartoon characters. They bunch together, as if horrified. So, according to this dream, I’ve taken care of a problem. Quite effectively, in fact… But maybe the cockroaches wouldn’t be…

Tessellation
Tessellation is when a surface is covered with a pattern of flat shapes without any gaps in between them. Normally, tessellations are created using the repetition of regular polygons. The most common would be using squares and rectangles.
The surface is usually separated in square grids and rectangular grids.
Some examples:
(Patriotic chain-liknked tessellation 2 by Dan Thompson, March 26, 2005)
There are also more unconventional ways of using squares to create a tessellations. One such example is this tessellation by thimblelady.com.
The squares are modified a little to make them appear like flowers instead of just the boring square grids.
Rectangle grids to create tessellations using rectangles.
Tessellations using rectangles can mostly be found around us, such as the brick walls of buildings and even the pavement of roads and sidewalks.
Tessellations can also be made using other regular polygons.
2 or even more different polygons can also be combined to create a tessellation.
Tessellations can also be created using curves and irregular shapes.
The most influential person in tessellation prints is M.C. Escher.
Escher was a print maker, architect, and artist who created many unique tessellations based on his knowledge of architecture and understanding of the world around him.
Some examples of his work.
We were asked to create tessellations of our own.
The first is Tessellation in Figure Ground using lips motifs.
Tessellation with Closure, using motifs of televisions.
Tessellation with Proximity using motifs of shoes.
Tessellation in Similarity to represent heat.
Tessellation with Continuity using motifs of elevators.
Tessellation with Alignment using the motifs of people.
It is inspired by the image of a contortionist in a box.
