So like, super belated congratulations to @neilmakesgames (who I've been following for the longest time on one blog or another) for the continuing success of The Ritual, which was released last month (I just don't have my life together enough to do anything on time)

Not my usual cup of trash tea (it's horror and like...not trash?), but I've seen this game for pretty early development and I am sooo excited to play it. Plus pixel games are and will always be awesome, and anyone who says otherwise is a dirty liar.

You can get The Ritual from itch.io. You can play for free, or name your price (which please do, because this guy totally deserves it and supporting indie game makers gives you good karma, Jesus told me so).

Do you have any tips for new Game Maker devs?

Well, I don’t know if I’m the position to give advice here, but it’s really important that you know what you’re doing when following tutorials. Look for open-source games, ask for advice and feedback wherever you can (like over at https://www.reddit.com/r/gamemaker), don’t be afraid to challenge yourself. 

Participate in game jams (like Ludum Dare or gm(48)). When you eventually decide to make a full game, plan ahead and make documentation before you start doing anything. You can’t really make something like that from scratch.

Very nice! Good visuals and cool sound effects and music. The audio is a bit loud, so a volume control or mute button would be nice. Cool game. :)

Alas, volume control was one of the things that was devoured by the evil configuration monster. I'm hoping to work it into next week's project though!
