So i was at a comic book store and found this
(I'm writing this at 11pm i cant take a picture rn)
So yeah I bought it for 50% off
As well as zines, I've also been getting art books - though my collection is much smaller, because these guys are at the opposite end of the price scale XD They are so beautiful though ... Again, if anyone has any art books they recommend, then drop me a comment!
🐅 The Moon Over the Mountain by Atsushi Nakajima, illustrated by Nekosuke
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
“The moon shines over the mountains tonight
Yet I cannot sing it’s praises; I can only howl”
This is a short story by Japanese author Atsushi Nakajima, about a man who forsakes his life for his poetry and what becomes of him.
This is my first time reading a Maiden’s Bookshelf story, which collects short stories and pairs them with art. I loved this one. It took my favorite Nakajima story and illustrated it beautifully. Nekosuke did a fabulous job with the illustrations added to the book.
I will add that this isn’t a graphic novel, just the short story with illustrations on each page. I’ll be searching for more additions from Maiden’s Bookshelf.
I’m impressed by your Charioteer collection! What are five of your other favorite books?
Thanks! I’m quite proud of that collection 😊! Here’s five other books that I’ve been rereading / thinking about recently:
From right to left:
The Victorian Chaise-Longue by Marghanita Laski
Labyrinths by Jorge Luis Borges
Dancing with the Lion series by Jeanne Reames
Lancelot-Grail by unknown, translated from Old French by Samuel N. Rosenberg, Carleton W. Carroll, Roberta L. Krueger, and William W. Kibler
