A "Tempting" Offer...? - The Matrix (1999) vs Poldark (2015) S2Ep1
~
To anyone reading this, you have very much NOT seen the last of me in terms of posts I'll be making this year about the comparisons between these two pairs, but here's the tip of that iceberg for now, because of the fact that I had the idea for this particular scene comparison a couple of months or so ago and it's been prominently on my mind all day today. I will continue to elaborate in future posts on how Ross and George are essentially an 18th century incarnation of Neo and Smith. 🤩 I mean George had a grandfather who was literally a smith, as in a blacksmith, so...
Also, yes I did make these gifs myself (in a frankly amazing site called Ezgif), and this is my first time putting alt text into images! Hopefully I did alright with what I wrote in these. 💕
Smith: "Ah, Mr. Anderson. You're just in time - I baked you a pie." *He pulls his hands out from behind his back to reveal said pie*
Neo: *Is very wary but still curious* "Really? What flavour?"
Smith: *Reaches down into the pie with one hand and pulls out a gun* "INEVITABILITY!"

I made this a few days ago to cheer myself up when I was in the worst of the cold I've got, and my lungs then instantly proceeded to perish, which I had to try very hard to conceal because I was watching TV with my parents at the time. AND I ALSO JUST REALISED THAT NEO’S FACE ON SMITH’S HEAD LOOKS LIKE NICOLAS CAGE HELP-
When I was putting this together just now, I was cackling just as much as Smith is. I had to do it when I noticed just how glaringly different these two YouTube thumbnail pictures are, for a pair of clips of his and Neo's respective visits to the Oracle in Revolutions.
The template/original version of the meme can be found here.
I just had an insane idea, which I've copied over from one I had with some others on Discord last year about Buzz's cowl and Zurg in Buzz Lightyear of Star Command.
I'm picturing Smith at some point deciding to just go over and angrily pull Neo's shades off of his face during one of their confrontations, but when he does this, it turns out that Neo's just wearing another, identical pair of shades underneath them. As soon as this happens, the amount of smugness in Neo's shit-eating grin that's emerging would be enough to destroy the Matrix then and there, and so would Smith's sheer level of then-surfacing rage.
This very specific clip from The Goes Wrong Show would be Neo describing his and Smith’s final scene together in the café in Resurrections. The one and only difference is that, in this case, the words “Gavroche dies of typhoid” would be replaced with “Smith pisses off to find his own thing to do”.
