The paradox ending (non-canon/bad ending/dream of Serah's) from Final Fantasy XIII-2 being very similar to the above scene from Kingdom Hearts II, that came out years before. A.K.A. I think this was a Kingdom Hearts II reference.

Upon their arrival to Berk, Nerah realized that they knew one of the riders from long ago.
Nerah and Eret (son of Eret) were from neighboring islands in the northernmost reaches of the Archipelago. Their villages interacted often due to their close proximity, so Nerah and Eret were vaguely familiar as kids, but became even closer after Eret’s parents joined Nerah’s mom’s crew of traders who traveled to replenish the island’s dwindling resources. That journey ended in a devastating shipwreck that set both kids adrift, with Nerah washing up onto an island of deathgrippers while Eret was fished out of the sea by dragon trappers.
Nerah never imagined that they’d see another familiar face after befriending a young deathgripper dragon, growing up alone aside from Saber, and finding other riders on the isle of Berk, but once the two of them realized their shared history, Eret and Nerah once again became fast friends.
Miss my morrowind girrl:///

Will the yearning for a place to belong ever go away?
Here is Nerah, Saber’s rider. They were originally going to ride a variation of fury, but I decided upon a deathgripper instead. Backstory is under heavy revisions since I first wrote it when I was like, twelve.
They’re just a much of a runt as Hiccup, and love their dragon more than anything, especially since Saber was their sole companion for years of living in the wild. The spear they use is less for stabbing and more for bludgeoning, and the head is comprised of a piece of dragon bone that Nerah’s mother was transporting for trade before the shipwreck that sent Nerah adrift. It’s a piece of a bewilderbeast’s jawbone.
