What sort of taste in films do the Howlers or SHIELD guys have
Nick Sr → he is, inexplicably, is the kind of guy to go to theatres multiple times. He has seen the film Patton at least 10 times.
He also brought Valentina to numerous screenings of Young Frankenstein, so make of that what you will.
So war films and comedy films, I guess. Which I think makes sense, and I imagine Nick probably also was a fan of the crime dramas of the 40s, think original Scarface or Angels With Dirty Faces. He hates John Wayne, though, so maybe not a Western fan.
All of the Commandos also make numerous references to actress and sex symbol Betty Gable, so that for all of them.
Dum Dum → I don't think Dum Dum watches movies like he goes if his friends are going but I don't think he really watches films in his own time. He likes radio dramas better and is sad that they've fallen out of favour.
Rebel Ralston → Rebel obviously loves a good Western, however he's also made references that if he was played by an actor, he'd like to be played by Errol Flynn, so I guess he's a fan of Robin Hood films. It's weird, because there isn't much of a likeness between Rebel and Flynn? So not sure what that's about, but whatever. I do think Rebel should have a guilty pleasure for horse movies where a girl befriends the wild untameable horse though. He really liked Gone With The Wind when it came out but after rewatching as an older man with more knowledge of things is incredibly embarrassed that he used to like it.
Gabe Jones → The 1943 film Stormy Weather was probably his favourite ever when it came out. Not necessarily a musical guy specifically but does like a lot of them, definitely watched all of the Louis Armstrong soundies from the 30s to 60s. Jazz by black musicians and golden age cinema have a long, complicated and close relationship and I think Gabe would be very knowledgeable and passionate about that area. Other than that I think he should be into Godzilla films when they arrive on the scene but he's always on the side of Godzilla because he knows that guy.
Dino Manelli → Rat Pack films, obviously, because he's in them. Also a big fan of Billy Wilder films, I imagine, not the least cause he's also in some of those, too.
Izzy Cohen → Izzy I think is also a Billy Wilder fan and him and Dino went to many films together! Really got into sci-fi and adventure films, seeing Ray Harryhausen stuff blew his mind. His kids always think they look bad because they have better effects but he's still impressed by The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms. Gabe is like hey man do you want to see some of the new Godzilla stuff with CGI and Izzy is like no. I want claymation.
Percy Pinkerton → Loves a spy film, loves James Bond, partial to an occasional musical but I think prefers stage musicals as opposed to film musicals. I think he'd get into Indiana Jones as a guilty pleasure film cause he thinks Harrison Ford is kind of handsome but you will never ever hear him admit it.
Eric Koenig → Unlike Nick Sr, Eric seems to like John Wayne films.
Due to being something of a polyglot, I think Eric has an undeserved reputation of being a film buff just because he sees films in multiple languages, however I think he kind of just watches whatever. Has an almost academic fascination in propaganda films, given that he would have seen a lot being a former Nazi who then joined an American military team with an actor who was in propaganda films. His taste however has been slightly warped by Rebel bringing him to Westerns, and he really really likes them.
Nick Fury Jr → Is a film guy secretly I think, really big fan of that period of like, 90s, early 2000s weird sci-fi genre mash-up films. I have nothing to back this up but I see him as having a secret love for those terrible ghost hunting films, he thinks they're hilarious but can't tell anyone about them, because they're bad.
Jasper Sitwell → Doesn't watch many films because he takes being an agent of Shield every seriously and always has more work to do, however I think he likes epic dramas like Lawrence of Arabia, or religious epics like Ben-Hur.
Clay Quartermain → He likes horror and action-adventure type films but probably has one or two rom-coms he watches in complete secrecy.
Jimmy Woo → Goes to watch Godzilla and other monster films with Gabe, although he isn't as big a fan of them. Enjoys a good romance from the 50s, stuff like Love in the Afternoon, although he definitely also likes detective films too. Him and Percy have never met but I'm sure they could talk about old Bond films together.
Valentina → Honestly I don't think Valentina is that into movies, she watches them with people but I don't think she has a specific genre or kind of film she likes, they're just Things That Are On Sometimes. Relies on Nick and Clay and Jimmy to bring her to films, which means she has a very strange spread of films she's watched. I think she really liked Alien when she watched it and thinks Arnold Schwarzenegger is funny.
Alexander Goodwin Pierce → Thinks he's a film buff because he's watched a bunch of Tarantino films, has only watched two non-English language films or something, kind of guy to say You Don't Know Film Unless You Watch Fight Club or some shit.
Network Nina → She's watching weird shit nobody has ever heard of. She's watching forgotten French science fiction films from the 1980s that have only just recently been restored. She's watching independent Algerian film. Mubi subscription haver.
