What is your biggest regret as the wheel of time fan?
Hello, anon. Thank you for the question.
There are several contenders, of course. Most of them personal. But I can put one on the spotlight with ease. The amazing and wonderful neuxue’s project as first time reader of the books.
Yes, this is my number one. If there is something that I can go back in time and have the power to somehow fix it – it would be to figure out a way to convince neuxue to finish their project.
For those who do not remember or are unaware – neuxue is a blog on Tumblr which got famous for (and I quote): “A liveblog from a first time reader as she goes through the series. Both entertaining and insightful. She is incredibly good at noticing little details and foreshadowing. I have read all her posts and found them quite enjoyable. There technically aren’t any spoilers, but she notices a lot of things that a typical first time reader wouldn’t catch so I’m giving it the “spoilers possible” designation to be safe.”
Yeah. Neuxue was that good that even a first time reader has to be marked for spoilers. The only person who I know to achieve shockingly high percentage of guessing the plot right. Like for example neuxue is still the only one person who is known to guess the Big Unnoticed Thing right. And to guess it on the spot right there in the scene in question. It was such a delight to read not only the chapters but neuxue’s great insightful analysis about several topics on the books.
And suddenly nuexue stopped reading the books at the beginning of Towers of Midnight. Which is fine, everyone is getting a life. Nuexue is not compelled to do it at any cost.
But still it hurts to me, a random stranger on the Internet, when we all know how close neuxue was to finally capitalize on such enormous project and to realize how many plots and details were predicted correctly. This I may call a robbery of great moment. And again, it is not even for my personal gain. It just doesn’t feel right to me. I would want to say that there is hope but after so many years I got used to the idea of that unfinished project. I will cherish the fun memories while fighting a regret that is not even mine.
Let the Light keep you safe. LightOne
P.S.
Besides the obvious regret of Robert Jordan not finishing his story, duh.
