Hot take:
Even though ninjago also consists of female fans, there are still some misogyny in the way people treat female characters. Wyldfyre is hated for "being annoying" even though Kai had once acted like that when he was young, Sora was hated on simply for being a new ninja, and Euphrasia was hated by THOSE Morro fans simply because she was the new elemental masted of wind.
Y’know what I think is criminal. I don’t think there’s actually been a single shot from Dragon’s rising where the new ninja are only in frame.. like I love the og ninja team with all my heart but I really wish we could have more scenes with the new gen too or just episodes focused on them.
Which one of them is your favourite new ninja from Ninjago?
Sora
Arin
Wyldfyre
Frak
Euphrasia
My personal favourite is Arin (shut up I know quite many of you don't like him)
[Tbh, euphrasia is kinda random to me because she probably isn't even a ninja]
[Again, probably some people already ask this question but I'm too lazy to search it]
[Plus I wanna know which one of the new ninja has more fans]
please tell me im not the only one who was kinda dissapointed when the "new" ninja were nothing but obstacles and minor, side antagonists instead of a different generation of ninjas
Because the idea of there being newer ninja sounds so cool- i guess kind of like Arin and Sora became "new ninja" (idk if she's a ninja)
Also. Itd be interesting to see ninja without elemental powers, or even spinjitzu at all! I think a more historical spin on them wouldve been kinda neat, sort of a "Okay, we're not magical beings, but that doesn't mean we can't improvise with our skills and smarts!" way, yknow?
OOP MY BAD, I ALMOST FORGOT TO POST THIS DRAWING I GOT TO FINISH YESTERDAY SINCE I AM TIRED RN BUT UH HERE-
Ya know that one trend with the broken mask?? Well, this is what it is but with Kurai- and his past self Hajime
This took a looong time but I think it turned out decent!… I hope.
I only did this cuz of @artistic-harlom-world ! they’re the one who got this idea stuck in my head yesterday and I just couldn’t NOT draw it! And I would have gotten to post this waaay earlier if it weren’t for SOMEONE in my family making me be out for hours today shhwgdhe,,
But yea, here ya go! Now if you excuse me, I’m gonna go rest cuz damn do I need it-
Original in case you may not know what this trend is/if ya want to do it too:
First posted about this on discord soooo why not post it here on tumblr too? :]
One Fun fact about Kurai!!
Kurai can’t taste. No seriously, he LITERALLY isn’t able to taste. He ofc has all the other senses like sight, hearing etc. but NOT taste. He doesn’t even have an actual tongue, since he doesn’t have normal human organs anymore (most of his body is literally just toxic waste-like dark magic stuff that does kinda work the same but in its very weird way) and the tongue IS a type of organ sooo… “how is he still able to talk just fine then???” Magic✨
anyway. He can’t taste anything, meaning that he can’t really *’enjoy’* food like anybody else. Well actually, he doesn’t even eat or drink AT ALL anyway since he doesn’t really need any of that in order to survive, doesn’t suffer from hunger or thirst. Plus, he’s Immortal!
If he DID actually try to eat or drink, he wouldn’t be feeling full or feel any piece of it in his mouth, the food or drink would just INSTANTLY vanish the moment it gets in his full black void like mouth almost similar to a black hole. No chewing, no NOTHING. To him, It’s just a waste of time. He doesn’t even have a neck either so he can’t and doesn’t even swallow stuff like any normal being in the first place!
Is Kurai bothered by his lack of taste? Not at all! He doesn’t care. So what if he can’t taste? His stamina is really good already, he doesn’t need any nutritions like those weak meat bags! (Humans) he doesn’t need anything sweet, no salty, no spicy, he doesn’t need any flavour in his life!
The sorceress did look at him funny when she got told by him that he doesn’t eat or drink for the first time lol

Warning: nothing much. Mostly bad writing as usual, you know the drill! Bad written battle scene. Also our poor little Nobu will be having bad thoughts at the near end of this chapter so.. be prepared for that.
————————-————————-————————-————————-————————-————————-——
It was the next day at Norrisville High, every student was inside, all ready for school as always.
Everyone except for Nobu.
Ever since the unexpected ‘surprise’ they have gotten yesterday, the short kid has felt nothing but distress. No matter what they did, even helping their parents with the groceries after that fateful moment, this cold and scary feeling inside them just wouldn’t stop increasing…
Even after having just met up with their first ever friends, Randy and Howard, in front of the school building just like they promised. the feeling still grew..
Even now that they’re waiting near the lockers as the boys did all the chatting… the feeling…still…grew…
They looked in their bag, seeing that dang book (The Ninja Nomicon), the one they saw during the said ‘surprise’, that they had to take with them today as they knew that they couldn’t risk the chance of having their parents find it back home. So for safety, they decided to let it stay in the locker for now. While the mask was in their hoodie, safely hidden in there.. but it didn’t quite make them feel safe.
How in the world are they going to deal with this-
Just as they got lost in their thoughts as usual, Nobu felt themselves suddenly getting bumped into hard by someone that just came out of nowhere, making both them and the person stumble back a bit from one another.
They looked up, about to give a small apology even though they weren’t the one who started it but then their expression quickly turned to a surprised one when they saw that it was a girl… who seemed to look so…sad.
A long strand of her hair was on her face but she didn’t care enough to do something about it, her eyes looked so tired and almost lightless too, like she had lost all hope. Not only that but she held a bag close to her, seeming to be filled with something that only made her look more upset each time she had just a tiny glance down at it. It’s like someone had just ripped out the joy from her, like she got shamed or something.
This depressing sight made Nobu feel bad for the girl, even though they had no clue who she was yet.
“O-oh…I’m…sorry…. I didn’t….m-mean to bump into you…”
The girl quietly muttered, her lips trembling slightly along with her words. Nobu frowned at that.
“No, no! It’s fine!… but.…are…a-are you..okay?”
The girl looked away, seeming to struggle with her reply. “I-I…not- fine! Yeah! Totally fine! Just….fine…”
She didn’t seem fine at all.
“Are you sure-“
Before the kid could ask again, the girl was already speed walking past them, rushing outta there as fast as she could. She even went between the two boys, interrupting their talking and making them watch her disappear into the crowd with both surprise and confusion in their faces.
“Hey… isn’t that….” Randy spoke up before Howard finished the sentence for him.
“….That magician girl?”
Nobu raised an eyebrow. “‘Magician girl’? You two know her?? Who is she???”
The duo looked back at the short dude who seemed really curious right now, really wanting an answer.
“Oh we’re not like, very close with her. We just so happen to know who she is, cause she always shouted her name every time she came into the building with confetti and white doves coming out of nowhere.” Howard told them. “That girl was ‘Ellie’.. or ‘the Amazing little magician Ellie!”, as she often would call herself..”
Randy nodded. “As we said, she’s the ‘magician girl’. Basically, she just really loves magic and always goes on to do some magic tricks to amaze everyone like a magician would.”
“Really?” Nobu raised an eyebrow.
“Yup. She even wears her own magician fit! Top hat, cape with stars on it, you name it! She always had it on!.. but now, today… she isn’t wearing it….” The tall guy narrowed his eyes. “Which I find to be very…strange…”
“Yeah…” Howard mumbled. “This is the first time we have ever seen her without it, we could barely recognise her at first glance!”
Both of the boys put one hand up to their chins, thinking about it.
“Why would she not be wearing it right now?…”
Right on cue, the trio heard some laughter from afar. And a familiar, loud, feminine voice along with it… that belonged to none other than the 11th grader and leader of the bully trio from yesterday herself. Maria.
“Hahaha!! Did you see how quick that dumb magic addicted shoob crumbled down to her knees with tears right in front of me that one time? She’s so easy to mess with! So sensitive! Haha!!”
She didn’t seem to realise how loud she was being right now. She wasn’t even aware that she was currently getting glared daggers at her from two 12th graders… and getting a very concerned look from a short 9th grader.
“There’s our answer…” Randy murmured, both his hands now on his hips.
Howard groaned. “I’m not even surprised anymore…..”
Nobu didn’t say anything, just frowned at what they had just heard. Now they just felt even MORE bad for the ‘Ellie’ girl. Whatever Maria said to her, seemed to have broken her spirit completely.
But what could THEY do? What could they possibly do about this? The kid still didn’t know Ellie THAT well and yet, a part of them wanted to go check up on her.. but where could she possibly be now? They didn’t get to see where she went after she had left so quickly just now.
What to do? What to do?…
,,,,,,,
Meanwhile, in the land of shadows… in the same, exact spot on a big floating rock.
Kurai was watching on his stank ‘screen’, where the mortal realm (aka Earth) was shown, trying to search for something. His eyes narrowed as he looked and looked..
until he finally had found it, along with sensing something from it too.
“Ah ha! Found it!”
Feeling so glad of his ‘discovery’, he turned his floating head around and shouted out: “OOOH MISS SORCERESS!!~”
A bit afar from him on the big floating rock was the cloaked lady herself, sitting and seeming having been in the middle of reminiscing about the ‘good old days’ as she gently touched the familiar ripped fabric stitched on her hood, the only thing she had of her lost lover left. She got lightly startled from her new ally’s loud yelling from the other side, looking over her shoulder.
“WHAT!?”
“COME OVER HERE QUICK!! I HAVE FOUND OUR FIRST VULNERABLE HUMAN!!”
“YOU DID!?”
The sorceress quickly got up from her sitting spot, her eyes wide as she quickly ran over to her floating ally. “Who is it!? Where!?”
“Right here, of course! Have a look!”
She stared right at the stank screen. And there was the said ‘vulnerable human’ Kurai was talking about, a young girl who currently seemed to be behind the high school that she was familiar with.
The girl was none other than Ellie herself, the heartbroken looking girl that still held the bag in her arms. Though soon, she finally pulled out what was inside of it, one by one.
“My magician dream….”
She murmured to herself after she was done, gripping tightly to every one of her items.
Her star patterned cape, her tiny top hat, her super comfortable and cool jacket, her black gloves..
all of that creates her magician persona: ‘the amazing little magician Ellie!’. Almost similar to his title. Her amazing magician idol that she looked up to..
what would he think of her now that she was like this?
That thought alone was enough to get a sniffle out of her. Then another, and another. Until finally, tears started coming, bursting out of her eyes like water canons.
“SHE IS RIGHT!! I AM NO MAGICIAN!!! I COULD NEVER BE!!!”
Her truly heart wrecking cries echoed into the sky, all the way through the stank screen from the other realm. The sorceress listened intently to the sounds, closing her eyes like she was fully focusing on them with her ears and even sniffed a little, getting a ‘whiff’ of it all.
“Mmmmh…” she hummed deeply to herself, licking her lips like she was tasting something. “Such ugly cries from a poor child… a happy spirit broken down… the magic drained right out of the soul…. With a big hint of broken dreams….”
The creepy woman looked absolutely delighted, her eyes opening with her lips turning into a big evil toothy grin. “Ah yes~… It’s been centuries since I’ve last gotten a taste of something oh so devastating… so delicious!~ she’s perfect!”
Kurai smiled at that, nodding. “Right? She shall be the first one to help spread chaos!… Now what are you waiting for?” He held his hand out, gesturing towards the stank screen. “Send the human your ‘gift’! I’m sure it’ll make her REALLY happy! Eager, even!”
The sorceress paused at that. Not because she didn’t understand what he meant, it was so obvious. It was just…
“You want me to send off my stank... Right through this ‘screen’??.. will that really work??”
Her questions seemed to not be what Kurai expected for a response, though he could kinda understand her doubts.
“Ah… already doubting me, I see? I’m hurt…” He lightly teased, then slightly shook his head with a chuckle. “Oh Miss Sorceress…. You worry too easily. Besides, how do you know for sure it might not work if you don’t even give it one try?”
The woman thought about it. He DID have a point. They were just starting this and she already had a feeling this might not work at all so fast.
This is literally her first chance on getting to cause chaos in town after so long, she can’t let go of this opportunity now!
“You’re right, Kurai. I don’t even know why I was having second thoughts just now!” She quickly brushed it off, focusing back at the task in hand. “No more stalling. It’s time to begin!”
Right when she said that, her chaos balls started glowing. Now moving her hands around, pink stank started forming and swirling around her, her eyes fully focused at her first victim of the year shown on the screen.
Once the pink stank was all prepared, the sorceress finally sent it out towards the stank screen.
,,,,,,,
It was lunch time now, everyone was gonna go to the cafeteria and so were the boys.
However, Nobu still couldn’t stop thinking about Ellie and her poor, sad face from earlier. It was like it was haunting them, making them feel guilty even though they had absolutely NOTHING to do with it! And the fact that the duo in front of them that were about to walk in the cafeteria didn’t seem to think too much about it as well only made them feel worse.
Still, they just couldn’t take it anymore. They HAD to do something about it. Right now!
“W-wait guys!! Um-“ they started speaking up, making Randy and Howard stop in their tracks just before they got inside.
“Huh?” Randy was confused and so was Howard. “What’s wrong, dude?”
The kid quickly tried to think of an excuse, anything that could work. As long as it sounded legit, it would be just fine-
“I NEED. TO USE. THE BATHROOM!!”
Ah yes. The classic bathroom excuse.. smooth Nobu, real smooth…
The two seniors seemed taken aback by that sudden and loud exclamation, glancing at each other with raised eyebrows and then back at the kid.
“Jeez, Nobu!” Randy said. “No need to exclaim something like that out loud!”
Nobu got embarrassed and looked down, already feeling stupid for saying those words out loud just now. “….sorry..”
“Aaah it’s fine, I get it man!” Howard quickly reassured them. “Sometimes, duty calls!… ha!.. Duty…”
“Still find that funny, huh?”
“Course I do, Cunningham! You know I can’t resist it till this day! Anyway-“
The ginger looked back at the kid. “If you really have to go that badly, then get to it!”
Randy nodded alongside him. “You do remember where the restroom is, right?”
Nobu just nodded super fast, almost looking like they were rocking out for a second there. The tall kid was really trying his best not to let out a small chuckle at that, just giving a small nod in return. “Alright, go! Me and Howard will wait for you in the cafeteria!”
And with that, the kid quickly left.. and made sure that the two weren’t still watching them from behind. Seeing them now going into the cafeteria, the kid let out a sigh of relief. Yet felt a slight hint of guilt once more.
They had just lied. To their first ever friends. Just like THAT.
This felt familiar to how they now were having to lie to their own parents about them being the-
Nobu quickly shook their head, trying to ignore those tiny bad thoughts that were about to take over and focus on the one reason why they did this just now: the girl, Ellie.
And so, their search began.
As they went around the school (making sure they weren’t caught by any possible people like teachers nearby, not like they could considering the kids very short size-), Nobu didn’t really see the girl anywhere.
In fact, they haven’t seen her anywhere inside of the building lately, not in a single room either, no matter how many times they looked inside each one.
so maybe… she could be outside right now!
It could be a kinda dumb idea but it would be worth a try! Even though they REALLY didn’t have to go this far just to check up on a stranger, they couldn’t help it!
Their kindness was just too strong…
The kid started quickly moving their feet again, still making sure no one was near to see them while they did, and got out of the school building.
It wasn’t so easy, it may have kinda taken a few hours. But thankfully, they succeeded!
They went down the stairs, looking around again but still not seeing the girl yet. So they kept walking, a part of them now wondering if maybe this REALLY wasn’t such a good idea and that this would be a waste of time to take such a risk.
But then they heard loud crying coming from behind the school.
‘Is that?….’
They speed-walked right over there, about to look over the wall.
“H-hey!” Nobu spoke up out loud without a second thought, slowly stepping over. “Is everything-“
But the moment they got to see who it was, they quickly noticed something was off. I mean, it WAS Ellie. It was the girl they were looking for but still…
something was VERY off.
“-alright…”
Just when they finished their sentence, Ellie changed. Literally.
Groans and more awful crying, now almost distorted, was heard from her as she seemed to start growing tons of fur on her skin. New ears coming out of her head. Long, furry, white rabbit ears. Her whole body growing bigger, bigger and bigger.. changing form in such a horrifying, inhuman way.
It was such a scary sight for the currently frozen short kid watching. They could have sworn they even heard some bones cracking in the process.
Instead of the same weak girly cries, there was only deep, dark, demonic and almost rabbit like noises that was now coming out from the girl-
no. Not a girl. Heck, she didn’t even look human at all anymore.
Her hand- paw slammed down near the bag beside her which now seemed ripped open, letting her take a hold of both the top hat and the star patterned cape which looked also bigger than they were before. She put them on, each placed slowly yet so roughly on herself. And once she was fully ‘dressed up’, she let out a big monster, squeak-like roar.
It was so loud that it almost pierced her witness’s ears, making them cover their ears and almost whine out in pain.
Nobu couldn’t believe their wide eyes.
They had just seen someone transform into a terrifying monster in a flash, just like that. They were so shocked and scared, that they just stood like they were paralysed for a few minutes. Their body ran cold, sweat forming on their face, their fingers shaking, their heart racing so fast that it was almost hurting their ribs.
It’s a miracle that the now monster Ellie hasn’t even noticed them yet.
As they stared at her in fear, there was only one single word repeating in the kids mind:
‘Run. Run. Run. Run. RuN. RUN!!!’
And they did just that.
They turned on their feet and ran, ran and ran as fast as they possibly could far away from the horror they witnessed. As they sprinted off, they could still hear the ugly screams from the monster.
*CRASH!* *BOOM!*
Suddenly the sound of walls breaking down was heard, along with heavy and strong hopping steps fading right after.
‘OH NO-‘
,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Meanwhile, in the cafeteria, with every student who seemed not to be aware of anything going on just yet..
Randy and Howard were sitting at their lunch table with their lunch trays, eating some of their food while waiting for Nobu. The short guy was already almost done with his, while the tall guy only ate half of his own and now was just using his fork to play around with the rest.
“Hey, how long has Nobu been in the restroom?…” The Cunningham boy spoke suddenly, making the Weinerman boy look up after cleaning the last pieces off of his plate.
“Hmm??…ah, I dunno… like.. some hours?? Man, the dude's sure taking his sweet time.. I mean, I understand how hard it can be doing your business sometimes but sheesh… I didn’t know they had to go THAT bad-“
“Ok, Howard. You REALLY don’t have to talk about that.” Randy groaned, quickly cutting off his best friend so he wouldn’t continue what he was saying. “I just hope they’re okay…. Wouldn’t want them to end up in trouble again so soon on their second day..”
“Cunningham… no offence but we just met this kid yesterday and you already act like an over worried parent.”
“What? No I dont-“
Their short conversation was abruptly interrupted by big sudden movements happening in the whole cafeteria. The tables shook, so did the lunch trays, chairs that the people were sitting on, even some pieces of everyone's food fell down to the floor along with a few small milk cartons.
It was like a sudden earthquake was happening.
“W-what the juice is going on!?” Howard yelped, his hands gripping onto the edge of the table out of instinct.
“A-an earthquake!?” Randy looked puzzled, wondering what was going on as well.
He remembers the last time something like this happened was back in 9th grade when he was still the-
And right on cue, the doors.. Well.. both the doors and the WHOLE entire wall broke down in an instant. Then out came a rabbit. But not just any rabbit. A magician, monster rabbit.
The monster let out its squeak-like roar and then just like that, every single student in the cafeteria started to scream out of fear and run out of their seats all around the place.
“A MONSTER!!!”
“AAAH SO SCARY!!! AND HAIRY!!!”
“I THOUGHT WE WOULDN'T HAVE TO SEE THOSE KIND OF FREAKS ANYMORE!!”
“I DONT WANNA BE EATEN!!!”
tons of scared screaming came from every corner from everyone. Everyone except for the two boys, who just stood there in shock with their wide eyes staring straight at the rabbit beast who was now moving its big paws around and breaking even more stuff. But it seemed to mostly try to look for something, for some people.
“C-Cunningham, I-is that- !?”
Randy couldn’t believe what he was seeing right now. There was an actual, real and breathing monster, wandering around the cafeteria and already causing havoc.
But it wasn’t any ordinary monster..
Those big yellow eyes.. They looked so familiar. In fact, he knows those kinds of eyes. He has seen them many times before..
“N-no…no…! It can’t be! It couldn’t be!.. I…I defeated him!.. it shouldn’t be possible!!.. but then why..”
But that wasn’t the only thing that caught his eye, it was also the clothes the monster was wearing. That striped shirt, the star patterned cape and that top hat. They also looked familiar.
And the only one he has seen wearing those so far was-
“ELLIE!?”
,,,,,,,,,,,
Nobu was running for dear life, going right back inside the school without even thinking or caring about breaking any of the school's rules. It didn’t matter right now. Not now.
“OH NO NO NO NO NO NO NO-‘
They were panicking. panicking so hard. They were still sweating, their body still feeling so cold from the fear rising up inside them like little spiders crawling up their skin from underneath. It was literally bone chilling.
What just happened!? What did they just see!? What happened to that girl!? Why did she suddenly transform like that!? Why did she turn into a monster!?
Their feet made loud footsteps across the floor as they kept on running and running, not paying attention to anything else around them. Not even the red glowing light and beeping coming from their own locker-
Wait a minute, their locker?
*gasp* ‘THE BOOK!!!’
*SKKKKKKRRRRRRRRT*
The kid immediately stopped in their tracks and turned around on their feet to run back, almost tripping halfway as they reached their locker and quickly opened it, seeing the Ninja Nomicon that was ‘beeping’ nonstop. They went to grab it and take it out, looking down at it.
“H-hey! Uh, N-Ninja Nomicon, right?? I-I- w-we have a VERY big problem r-right now-“
Lots of screams were heard just now far from where they were, right from the cafeteria. The doors and the wall around it that used to be there was nonexistent.
‘Randy and Howard!!’
Nobu ran again along with the Nomicon in their arms to the direction of the scary noise.
And what they saw in there made them cower behind one of the last bits of the broken wall.
There they saw the rabbit monster herself —-the one they had just seen being ‘born’ with their very own eyes earlier— now wrecking the whole area. Not only did she just use her big paws to do so but also with… magic tricks!?
Like, she was literally pulling out some things from the inside of her cape out of thin air. Cards, big rings, balls, cups, you name it! But instead of just the normal and safe ones, they looked more.. sharp. More dangerous, in a strange way.
And it proved just that with how one of the balls suddenly EXPLODED the moment it hit one of the tables nearby.
The students kept running away as far away from it all as they could, Nobu could barely see their 12th graders friends from where they were during all of this. The screaming never stopped. It was awful to listen to, so haunting.
“Oh my g-god... w-why…why is t-this happening?..”
But the beeping from the Nomicon snapped Nobu out of it, making them look down at it again as they still hid themselves, their back now against one of the lockers. They tried their best not to tense up at every loud sound of destruction they heard inside, taking a deep breath and holding in the tears that wanted to be freed from their eyes so badly.
“L-look…I..I s-still aren’t that…s-sure about me b-being the ninja and a-all… in fact, I a-already feel like r-running away from this!.. b-but..”
Their arms around the book tightened.
“I don’t w-want anyone to g-get hurt, including…m-my first ever friends!.. i w-want to help, I-i really do…but I don’t know anything about THIS! a-and I don’t know how to d-deal with THIS!….s-so please… help me!”
Their voice sounded so shaky as they begged.
They still were scared of them possibly going back to that strange place, inside the book’s weirdness that overwhelmed them during the first time. But they couldn’t just stand here and do nothing but tremble in fear near the chaos happening. They knew they couldn’t.
“Tell me what I m-must do! How to stop this! H..How I can s-stop s-someone…a h-human who just turned into a monster out of no where!!? JUST GIVE ME THE ANSWER NOW AND FAST OR PEOPLE MIGHT ACTUALLY DIE!!”
Right when they cried out that last part, the book started moving on its own. It tried to open its pages but the tight grip of the kids arms made it hard to do so. Noticing this, Nobu quickly loosened their hold and now held the sentient item up in their hands, watching as it finally fully opened up for them to see. The same, familiar light flashed before their very eyes.
Then soon, they could feel the same weird feeling of unconsciousness take over as the same ‘aauoof’ sound left their mouth before their entire form suddenly fell and slid down against the locker behind them, leaving them now sitting on the floor with the book on their lap.
now they were here again, inside the exact same ‘pages’ of the Ninja Nomicon.
Except this time, the short dude wasn’t falling from the sky like the first time. Instead, they just woke up on the floor and sat right up. Their eyes looked around, trying to process the fact that they were really back here once more before looking up high.
The area they were in right now seemed new too, there was still some writing in the walls but the room seemed wider and more.. roomy, in a way? They weren’t sure.
And there they saw the doodle ninja itself, standing right in front of them.
“We meet again, New Ninja… and at such an unexpected time..”
Ah yes, that deep voice that still gave the kid goosebumps. Especially when calling them THAT. But there was no time to think about that.
“Y-you!” Nobu quickly got back on their feet, already acting like they were in a frantic rush which wasn’t far from the truth. “It’s y-you again! L-look, you already know why I’m here! T-that girl! That n-now monster girl! W-we gotta-“
“Keep your breathing calm, panicking won’t help you with this.”
“B-but-“
“calm.”
They wanted to protest but didn’t want to start an argument so with a shaky breath, they tried their best to steady their heartbeat and calm themselves. Or at least, enough to not freak out completely.
“Now…” the doodle Ninja spoke. “Since we don’t have much time at the moment, you’ll be given your first lesson that should aid you in the battle that will also be your first immediately.”
“F-first b-battle?!…”
The place where they both were in started changing, showing a brand new and more blank area.
Suddenly, a monster doodle showed up. The unexpected appearance of it caught Nobu by surprise, backing away a little. The doodle ninja turned to the beast, moving its hand up and in its neck scarf, then pulled out a (doodle) katana from there outta nowhere which only confused the kid even more.
‘Did it just….just pull a weapon out from their scarf??’
The monster doodle seemed to have something around its neck as well, a necklace of some kind that seemed… infected in a way?.. that dangled as it moved its long neck and growled.
The kid watched the doodle ninja get in a fighting stance, almost kneeling down with its katana held up, its eyes narrowing at the creature in front of it that soon quickly tried going for an attack with its mouth wide open and its sharp teeth out.
Nobu thought the doodle ninja was gonna use its katana to slice the monster in half right before it could attack. But instead, the katana went right for the necklace, slicing the pendant piece in half so smoothly in a flash. Right when it did, some strange mist started coming out from the broken pieces.
And then before they knew it, the monster doodle slowly shrunk down and its form changed into… a human?!
The now human doodle looked around with a confused expression like they had no clue what just happened, the doodle ninja turned around to look back at the still surprised Nobu. Right over both it and the confused human doodle, something started forming.
Those were words, literal words that started forming and together, they made a whole sentence that said:
BELIEVE IN THE WEAPON YOU HOLD AND YOU SHALL HIT THE RIGHT TARGET
Nobu read those words out loud to themself, seeming now just as confused as the human doodle.
This was the lesson? What kind of lesson was this??
They also noticed a few more words popping out near the halves of the human doodles necklace which was still on the ground, some arrows pointing at it.
But why?
“I…I don’t understand…”
“No need to worry.” The doodle ninja spoke up. “You will learn the meaning of these words once you get out there and face your first battle.”
The ‘air’ in the area started picking up, blowing forward in the kids direction.
“Good luck, new ninja. It’s a shame you didn’t get the time to properly train before this happened but knowing your potential, i know you’ll do great..”
“B-but..what if I don’t-“
It was too late to ask more questions. The poor kid felt the same weird and scary feeling of their soul being dragged out from who knows where so fast in a blink of an eye..
*GASP*
And now they were back to reality.
Nobu’s eyes glanced down at the Nomicon on their lap, then over to the big hole that was once the cafeteria’s entrance, still hearing the sounds of the rabbit monster and the chaos she was still causing in there.
They still were processing the ‘lesson’ they had just received from the book and still didn’t quite understand it but they knew they couldn’t worry too much about that right now, there was a much BIGGER problem still at hand. And that was the rabbit monster.
Meaning that they now had to… put on… the ninja mask… for the first time.
They slowly took the said mask out from their hoodie pocket, staring right at it with nothing but the same scary feeling deep inside of them.
Nobu already felt too scared to put it on for the first time yesterday, would they even be able to do it now?… Well they didn’t really have a choice right now, did they?
Plus many students were still in danger. They need help, their hero’s help. THEIR help.
The short dude gulped hard, their heart beating fast as their fingers trembled with the dark fabric in their grasp. This was it, they were finally gonna put this on their face and they had to do it fast.
So with a slight hint of hesitation, they finally pulled the ninja mask down on their head. It was a little difficult with their big hair getting in the way but they thankfully didn’t take long to take it all the way down, covering their whole face. (Except for the eyes of course)
And the moment the mask was on, they felt a sudden shock of energy flow through their body and before they knew it, tons of dark long ribbons started appearing from behind them, freaking them out, and covering their entire form.
They were everywhere.
They wrapped around Nobu’s arms, around their legs, around their whole torso and all the way up to their neck. They felt almost like tight ropes clinging onto their skin, slowly turning both them and the human child into one.
Once it was done, their eyes, that they didn’t even realise had been closed during the whole thing, finally opened up all wide with shock and looked back down again.
And what they saw was their own body no longer wearing their usual outfit, no big hoodie or pants, not even shoes in sight. Only a black suit with few red stripes around their feet and their wrists, all covered up in the black fabric..
The kid immediately got up on their feet to try to get a better look at their new and unexpected ninja attire, seeing how they were covered from head to toe.
‘Is… is this my ninja suit!?’
And not only were they completely covered up but they also had…two red scarves?
Why the heck did they have two of those??
*CRASH*
‘No time to think about it now!!’
Nobu looked back in the huge hole of the cafeteria, all while trying to calm down their still super fast beating heart as they mentally prepared themselves.
“Okay, okay… you can do this Nobu! You can do this! Stay calm! Just.. s-stay calm please!! BREATHE!!..”
With a deep breath, one hand on their side formed into a fist. “Let’s do this… and not die I hope-“
,,,,,,,,,
Meanwhile in the cafeteria, chaos still ensues.
As the monster Ellie showcased her destruction, Howard was currently hiding behind a table that was sideways on the floor after having been thrown away earlier.
Randy wasn’t with him right now because the tall guy had told him to stay behind while he went off to hide somewhere else so he could transform into the ninja and go stop that beast. Howard really hoped it would be quick, he didn’t know how much longer he could cower like this and keep hearing everyone panicking hard.
“C’mon Cunningham… we need the ninja here now!…”
He saw that the feral magician rabbit was trying to chase after a familiar trio, it was Maria and her friends. They seemed freaked out by this monster going right after them, so much so that the leader herself didn’t even hesitate to just randomly grab a nearby student and move them over like she were using them as a shield of some sort.
now the monster was getting near the said random poor student who tried backing away in fear, shielding themselves with their arms without thinking like that was gonna do anything to protect them.
“cmon, CMON-“
“SMOKEBOMB!!!”
And right on time, a familiar puff of smoke appeared right in between the monster and the student. Once it cleared, a ‘familiar’ figure was revealed.
“Ninja!!”
The student was now so happy and relieved to see the hero of the town coming to their rescue, so was everyone else, whose panicking was suddenly set on pause the moment they saw the said hero appear.
“IT'S THE NINJA!!!!”
“YES!!!”
“HE HAS COME TO SAVE US ONCE AGAIN!!!”
“YAY!! NINJA!!!”
Maria, along with Anona and Qiu, were also super relieved.
“FINALLY! TOOK HIM LONG ENOUGH!! THAT GROSS RABBIT NEARLY TRIED KILLING US JUST NOW!”
“Agreed. My outfit was like, almost ruined by its drooling.. “
“…yo, does the ninja look shorter today to you guys?”
“Now that you mentioned it Qiu… yeah, what the heck??”
Everyone started cheering — some seeming to question ‘the ninja’ a little for ‘some reason’ — like they were never scared to begin with. So did Howard, who had let out a big sigh of relief.
“Oh thank cheese!… The ninja’s back in action!! Awww yeah!!” He shouted out, having both rock and roll fingers up in the air. “Get em Ninja!! Get em!!!… wait hold up, why does he seem… less tall-“
“Howard!!”
The chubby guy immediately stopped what he was doing when he heard his best friend calling out his name…. But… something wasn’t right. He didn’t hear it from right where the ninja was standing, the hero didn’t even look back in his direction. Instead, he had just heard the voice from.. behind him!?
Howard’s head turned around, almost all the way like an owl. And there he saw none other than..
Randy-
“Cunningham!?”
He couldn’t believe it, what was his bro doing here right behind him when he should be out there??… and just like him, Randy also seemed shocked by this unexpected surprise.
“What the juice!? What are you- why are you-“ the Weinerman could barely speak, almost fumbling on his own words. “W-wait a minute- b-but- I-if you’re here… then who is-!?” Both of the 12th graders looked back over at the scene.
What those two didn’t know was that ‘the ninja’ they were seeing out there at the very moment was none other than Nobu, who was now coughing a little bit due to having smelt a bit of the smoke from the Smoke bomb they had used.
They had remembered a part of what their first friends had told them about the ninja yesterday, about how the hero would always throw a smoke bomb to both appear and disappear. So they decided to try to do the same when appearing inside the cafeteria (having struggled to figure out how to take anything out of the suit at first before doing so, while hoping the ball they took out wasn’t anything that could literally just cause more damage. They got surprisingly lucky with that one).
But what they didn’t expect was for the thing to smell so bad. They didn’t really expect a nice, fresh smell of flowers either. But it was just so AWFUL, more than they had expected.
“Ugh!… gross!!.. this smells like rotten eggs!… ew, I think I got it in my mouth! Bleh!!”
After all that, the new ninja tried getting back on the situation at hand. “Ahem!… stay back monster!” They pointed a finger up at the mentioned monster. “You will not hurt any student on my watch!”
Thankfully the heroic speech part went well. The heroic face on part? Not so much..
Nobu’s finger that was pointing slightly trembled, the look in their eyes still filled with a hint of fear. Being in front of the freaky furry creature who was 10 times bigger than them face to face was super scary, it was something straight out of a horror movie but way more realistic and terrifying.
The monster Ellie stared straight down at the short guy, narrowing her eyes at them like she was inspecting them. That hard glare sent a chill down their spine.
“Um- I-I said stay back-“
And before the new ninja knew it, they got swatted away so hard, that big paw hitting them right on the side of their waist, that they flew and crashed right through another wall.
Monster Ellie then started hopping towards the now destroyed wall and went in it, letting the random student get away.
The rest of the students, still being so happy to see their “hero's” return, all went to watch the first ninja battle this year, some even already having their phones out . The two 12th graders were behind the whole audience, still completely shocked and confused.
“How…the wonk…is this POSSIBLE!?” Howard spoke up, though making sure he wasn’t heard by anyone else. “The ninja is there but you are here when you should be out there!… this is so confusing!?” He put both hands up to his head, then he paused for a second before whispering. “….wait.. dude.. you didn’t give your mask away, did you? did you really just choose a random guy to be the ninja?!”
Randy was a bit offended by that accusation. “What!? NO!! I would never do that!! That’s stupid! it’s the Nomicon who does the choosing thing, not me!“
“Then why is there someone else wearing your mask right now?!”
“…uh, about that ‘my mask’ part-“
“Like, how else can there be another ninja besides you if they don’t have the one thing that I have seen you keep with you the entire ti-“ Howard looked back at his best friend as he spoke, only to see the tall guys ninja mask dangling right in front of his face. “-meeeeeewwhhaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAT!?”
He stared hard at the mask, then he looked back over all the students and at the scene of the currently struggling new Ninja. Then back at the mask, then back at the ninja. Again and again and again and again-
“HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE!?”
“I DONT KNOW!!”
“HOW IS THERE A NINJA OUT THERE WHEN YOU STILL HAVE THE MASK!?”
“I DONT KNOOOW!!”
Their whispering back and forth didn’t last long thanks to the ‘fight’ now going on.
Poor Nobu was trying to stand back up on their feet after having just been swatted like that and had their back hit a locker that was now not in a good shape either. the pain at the side of their waist still hurts so much.
“Ow….. It hurts…soooo bad…”
When they looked up, they saw Monster Ellie coming over to them with a killing intent in her big eyes. That made the ninja kid hurry up, almost stumbling and losing their balance as they did.
“Oh crap, she’s coming towards me! I gotta do something, I GOTTA DO SOMETHING!!!”
They were trying to quickly think of something while the beast only got closer and closer, almost about to go for an attack again.
“G-GET AWAY!!”
Without thinking twice, the new ninja went to kick the monster in the stomach out of panic. What felt like just a quick kick to them, was a super hard hit right in the guts for monster Ellie, who easily backed off and held onto where she was struck with a tiny whine leaving her.
“Yooooo!! The ninja kicked that monster right in the GUTS!!” Qiu was heard shouting in the background.
Nobu was surprised by their own strength just now, not thinking that kick would honestly do anything as it felt like it was just a weak move they quickly pulled out. But it seemed like it actually DID one thing, it actually hurt the monster. Badly.
One part of them was glad to be able to defend themselves for even just one second, the other couldn’t help but feel guilty, especially at that whine they just heard her make. And especially when they were aware that this monster was literally a sad human girl just earlier today too before having turned into… that.
“O-oh! I’m so sorry! I-“
The kid tried apologising, only to get swatted again and hit another locker. Yeah, trying to apologise to somebody who is literally an out of control monster right now isn’t really a good idea.
“O-okay…n-never mind…” they groaned in pain, slowly standing back up again. “My bad…”
,,,,,,,,,
The sorceress and Kurai were watching everything going on right now on the stank screen, the woman was pleased so far while her floating ally seemed fully focused on the scene.
“Yes! Just as I wanted it to go! The ninja has finally come out of hiding now that my first monster in years is here! And look at that, he’s already struggling! Ha!”
“Yes….” Kurai murmured, his eyes fully narrowed, staring so hard and intently at the said ‘ninja’ shown on the screen. “‘He’ is…”
,,,,,,,,,
Nobu was currently trying their best to avoid most of Monster Ellie’s attacks, both her big paws and her dangerous magic tricks from her cape. Sometimes they kinda succeeded, other times they got hit. It was almost endless.
All the students, who were still watching it all going on, went from excited and overjoyed to a little confused and concerned after a few hours passed. They all had expected their ‘hero’ to defeat ‘his’ enemy by now but instead, they all see ‘him’ struggling out there for some reason.
A few whispers started being thrown around them here and there, all wondering if the ‘ninja’ was okay.
Meanwhile, Randy and Howard seemed just as concerned. The shorter friend grimaced at the part where the new ninja just got kicked in the face by a hop kick, shaking his head lightly. “Ouch, that looked like it hurt.. dude, whoever this guy is sure didn’t seem to have enough training before this fight. Like no offense but with their… surprisingly short size, I kinda expected them to at least be so easy to miss.”
The taller friend did sorta agree to that but at the same time he couldn’t help but feel kinda bad for the new ninja. Even though he still was confused by how this ninja even existed while he still had the original mask. A part of him wanted to put the dang fabric on, go out there and help the new kid but he knew he couldn’t do that.
After all, everyone still thinks there has only been one ninja of Norrisville for centuries. Him appearing all of the sudden along with this new ninja would be very suspicious, plus the Nomicon probably wouldn’t be happy about that since it has told him to stay back and wait before having left his hold.
But it was just so hard.
Nobu panicked hard on the inside as they kept dodging and moving around the rabbit beast, sweating so hard under the mask. The fact that they could feel so many other eyes on them while this was happening didn’t make them feel any better, it only made them more nervous. They knew they couldn’t run forever, they knew they had to fight back.
But how were they gonna stop this monster for good? Was there even really a way??.. if there really was, they hope it wouldn’t be something as terrible as.. murder.
“H-hey! G-go easy on me!!” They yelped as they swiftly lifted one arm up to block an attack meant for their face again, the limb trembling slightly while it kept pushing away that big paw that just wouldn’t stop coming back for another punch attempt.
Monster Ellie just wouldn’t stop trying to punch and kick no matter what, she even tried biting the kid a few times, one of those times she almost succeeded and it did just a tiny rip somewhere on the ninja suit. Thankfully it wasn’t too noticeable, it still nearly hurt though.
And the area around them was in no good shape right now either. Some of the lockers were terribly ruined, some had sharp edged cards from the monster’s cape, the ceiling had a big crack on it due to her having kicked the new ninja up to the air to make them hit it.
This battle went on for more hours and there was already a big mess being made, yet the students just couldn’t stop watching the whole thing from afar and whispering to one another about it.
“Man, this is so hard to watch!..” Randy murmured, wincing at the little ninja being hit on the jaw.
“Took the words right out of my mouth.” Howard Replied. “This would be such a terrible first introduction of the ninja to Nobu..”
Both of the boys gasped. “NOBU!!”
“They must still be in the restroom!” Randy’s eyes frantically looking around. “I don’t see them anywhere here!”
“And they’re already missing their chance of seeing the ninja for the first time!” Howard exclaimed. “We gotta get them outta there and over here NOW!!”
“Wait, is that really a good idea right now? Especially with the monster here?”
“Cunningham, that big rabbit monster seems only focused on that ninja at the moment. It isn’t hurting any of the other students who are watching..”
Howard wasn’t wrong about that. After quick thinking, Randy let out a sigh.
“Okay, fine. Go find them, I’ll stay behind to keep watching this ‘new ninja’.”
“You got it!”
And so the Weinerman was off, quietly complaining about things like how ‘running is still so tiring to do’ and such. Randy turned back to the scene, continuing to keep his eyes on the little hero.
‘Whoever you might be, even while I still find your presence so strange and suspicious.. i really hope you don’t lose-‘
Back to the fight scene: Nobu hesitantly yet finally tried doing more attacks back. There first was an attempted firm punch they did right to the feral rabbits sternum, Then they did another kick into her stomach, then finally came a backflip kick right under her jaw which almost knocked her back completely… along with the ninja immediately failing to land back on their feet and instead fall face first on the floor after doing the said backflip.
The kid didn’t know where the energy for that move just came from, all they could guess was the ninja suit itself. Either way, they knew they couldn’t stop now. Not with this beast still refusing to give up. And almost tearing even more of the ninja suit as she went on.
So they kept going, blocking and attacking every chance they got, still sometimes failing in the process. They even tried pulling some more stuff out of their neck scarf, anything to help them in battle. They had pulled out a few small grey balls, they didn’t know what they could do but they decided to throw them anyway and just hoped for the best.
When they did, the balls multiplied and got all over the floor. Monster Ellie barely had time to react to it the moment her rabbit feet stepped on them and started wobbling, losing her balance and tripping right on the spot with a startled squeak, her top hat falling off her furry head.
Randy, who had noticed it, knew exactly what balls the new ninja had just used, he had used them himself in the past after all. “Ninja tripping balls!”
“O-oh, that seemed t-to work well- WOAH!!” Nobu didn't notice themselves having accidentally stepped on the balls as well, making them also end up tripping to the floor too and land on their back with a small ‘oof’.
“….I spoke too soon…” they grumbled before trying to get back up without falling down again, looking back at Monster Ellie who currently seemed to frantically try grabbing her hat like her life depended on it.
When the ninja kid got almost near, she growled at them and kept kicking her feet at them, making them back away a little out of fear of being kicked in the face once again. She finally got her hat before trying to move back on her feet without tripping on the small balls again as well.
Even after all that, she still refused to stay down and just give up.
At this point, Nobu was so close to losing their mind from all this stress that was bubbling up.
“Ugh!! PLEASE JUST STOP ALREADY!!”
All the students were taken aback by the sudden outburst from the new ninja, including Randy, who could just hear the sound of exhaustion and pain from their voice alone with those words. Monster Ellie on the other hand, only growled even louder, not seeming to like having been yelled at like that.
Bad idea.
Outside of the Norrisville high school, every citizen nearby still was unaware of what was happening..
Until they all saw the short ninja literally fly right out from the side of the building, right though the wall that broke down so fast. The ninja landed on the ground, groaning in pain as their head lifted up.
“Gh… she kicked me so hard.. in the face.. again…”
Nobu slowly got up on their hands and knees, feeling small aches of pain in their limbs as they did. Their vision was practically blurry, a ringing sound in their ears. The only thoughts in their head were one question that repeated in their head: HOW WERE THEY GONNA FIX THIS!?
‘I don’t get it! I tried everything! Everything I could do and I still can’t stop her! How am I even gonna do that!? How can you stop a literal human turned monster!? WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO!?’
Nobu heard the sounds of big footsteps, immediately knowing it was the feral rabbit monster. They got back on their feet the second she got outside too, seeing that angry look in her big eyes as their own vision soon got clearer.
‘Come on, N-Nobu! Think! THINK!!!’
The short ninja tried their hardest, completely out of pure desperation, to think of anything. just, ANYTHING that could help. And that’s when the memory of the Nomicon’s lesson came in, the exact same words that they had seen and read just before this whole madness had started:
‘BELIEVE IN THE WEAPON YOU HOLD AND YOU SHALL HIT THE RIGHT TARGET.’
Those words coming from that strange book were obviously supposed to be some help for the little guy but they still couldn’t understand what exactly it was supposed to mean, even with the whole scene with the doodles that happened before being given that fast lesson.
‘What ‘right target’ was it even talking about?? All i saw was a monster doodle with a necklace, that doodle ninja taking out a katana and slicing the pendant part of the said necklace and then some weird funk thing comes out as the monster suddenly turns into a human!..’
As Nobu thought hard about it, Monster Ellie seemed to slowly take some steps forward.
‘I thought the monster was gonna get killed, but instead only its necklace got sliced in half and then just became human after all that… the weapon that was used was the katana, that doodle ninja that held it used it on its necklace… well, it didn’t look like any ordinary necklace at first before it got broken...’
The students had just come out of the school too, watching from afar and wondering what their ‘beloved hero’ was doing right now while the monster Ellie only got closer bit by bit. Randy tried taking a closer look, still making sure not to be anywhere near the monster rabbit while he did.
‘The monster didn’t get hit.. so if that’s the case, it’s.. not the.. “right target”?… but the necklace… wait a minute… is.. was the book trying to tell me that… instead of attacking the monster right in front of me, I have to attack.. an item… it’s wearing?’
The ninja kids' eyes started widening, looking straight at Monster Ellie again.
It sounded weird, like such a crazy and unbelievable idea. And yet.. it just seemed like it really was the only solution that made sense, in a way.
They couldn’t think of any other way for this, other than one very awful thing they would absolutely NOT want to deal with. Are they becoming insane right now? Maybe. Probably-
Nobu tried stopping their thoughts just before they got all over the place again, not wanting to make the situation even more overwhelming and scary then it already was.
Just like with their ninja suit and the random stuff they had pulled out from it so far, they hoped for the best. They hoped, BEGGED, that this would really work. It HAD to! It should!
Right on time, Nobu quickly moved away from an aggressive attack Monster Ellie just tried to do. The kid felt immediate pain from their fast movements thanks to their injuries but they tried ignoring it now, focusing on the rabbit beast that only seemed to get more furious at them than before.
‘Wait… but.. what item from her would I need to hit?..’
Their eyes glanced all over at the rabbit gal while they kept trying to dodge her both psychical and ‘magic’ moves, kinda hissing in pain as they did. Trying to think while doing so, they remembered way earlier today when they first (kinda) met Ellie — when she was still human — that she was wearing a little star necklace. Maybe that could be it-
Wait, no. She doesn’t seem to have her necklace anymore now that she’s a monster, nowhere in sight. However, there seemed to be one big star that held her magic cape together. Something about it was off, both its color and that slight crack on it..
‘Could that be it!?’
Nobu knew they couldn’t waste any more time now, they had to get closer and finally finish this NOW.
‘Please work, please work, please work-‘
Were the words that kept repeating in their head, their feet desperately trying to move as fast as possible as they kept dodging and also now trying to get close enough to Monster Ellie at the same time. All they had to do was to get to that one star, break it and then it would be all over!
But no one said THAT was ever gonna be easy.
Just before the new ninja's little hands could reach their target, they were suddenly pounced on by the monster, tackling them down to the ground with a harsh thud. They tried to get back up again but she wouldn't let that happen, pinning them down with one of her big paws pressing down on their chest.
“G-gh!! L-let me go-“
The hard pressure from it made it difficult for the ninja to move, their arms struggling to push away or punch at the monster above them that didn’t budge.
All the students gasped, watching as their ‘hero’ was being held down by ‘his’ enemy. Randy started getting worried for the guy. “Oh no!.. this isn’t good!.. new ninja!!…”
The more Monster Ellie pushed her paw down, the harder it got for Nobu to breathe properly too. They started freaking out, already nearly panicking once more.
“Gh.. No! No no!! Ugh… I can’t… let it… end… like this!!..”
The memory of what they saw in the lesson from the Nomicon appeared out of nowhere in their head again, remembering how they saw the doodle ninja pull out a katana from their scarf and use that to slice the necklace of that monster doodle..
that’s it!
The kid tried moving one of their hands up to their own scarf, sliding it in there to find the weapon they needed right this instant. They kept digging and digging, their other hand busy with trying to grab onto the big paw on their chest.
While they did this, the feral rabbit started opening its mouth wide, showing off her sharp teeth, her buck teeth just as sharp as the rest of them. It looked like she was about to try biting them again but much worse this time, probably about to rip their face clean off. This only made Nobu panic even more, trying to rush their search.
After a bit of more struggling, they felt their fingers touching something hard and quickly pulled it out, revealing a katana of their own in their hand. The kid had no idea how something so sharp like this was in the suit in the first place, they should have felt it somehow.
But there wasn’t time to think about it, especially with a rabbit beasts wide open mouth getting almost close to their face already, a bit of drool nearly landing on their mask. They could even smell her breath and it was NOT minty and fresh, that’s for sure.
“Ugh.. c-come- on-“
Nobu tried aiming the katana at the big star of the star patterned cape, not having an easy time doing so with the monster’s furry face covering most of their view. This made them worry about the possibility of them missing, what if they ended up hurting her by accident!?
But then, from their memory, they thought of the first words of the lesson..
‘BELIEVE IN THE WEAPON…’
The new ninja did their best not to think too hard about the possibility and instead, on the weapon they held. They still felt hesitant but not for too long, Monster Ellie’s mouth was almost about to close down on their head…
“NGAH!!”
The little guy let out a loud cry with their eyes shut tight out of fear and without another thought, their katana holding hand swiftly moved and-
SHING!
It sliced. And everything was quiet for a second.. until..
“GRAAAAH!!”
A familiar but now even louder, squeak-like roar was heard. And the feeling of the big paw quickly left, no longer pressing down their chest.
Nobu’s eyes opened up right away as they gasped for a bit of air, leaning up on their elbows. For a moment, they were worried that their katana might have missed their ‘right target’ and ended up injuring her.
But to their surprise, that wasn’t the case. They saw that Monster Ellie, who was still screaming at the top of her lungs, had her cape fall down apart from her shoulders. The big star that no longer held it together, for it was now broken in HALF.
And from those now broken half pieces of the star, came out a bunch of strange pink mist. As it happens, the monster seemed to slowly shrink down little by little..
Once all that mist left her, Ellie.. was back to normal.
She was no longer the rabbit monster that had tried to kill the short ninja just hours ago, she was actually HUMAN again. And that big star they had just sliced apart? Now just a normal star necklace again, broken but still normal.
“W-what… what happened?..” the girl groaned, rubbing her head and looking around in confusion.
This was all just like the same exact scene that the Nomicon had shown them during the lesson. The item being sliced in half by a weapon, that weird mist leaving it, ALL OF IT. The exact SAME scenario.
‘I…. I did it!?..’
Nobu’s eyes widened in shock. They did it. They actually did. They still didn’t understand this whole thing they just saw and went through but they did it!
They FINALLY stopped the monster, saved Ellie and the day!
Tons of cheering started being heard from every student that had watched it happen, so happy and relieved to see that their ‘beloved hero of Norrisville’ had finally defeated the enemy. Some clapped, some shouted out.
“WOOOOHOOO!! YOU GO NINJA!!”
“THE NINJA HAS SAVED US ONCE AGAIN!!”
“I ALWAYS BELIEVED IN YOU!!”
“OUR HERO!!!”
Nobu was startled by the sudden loudness coming from the crowd but they could barely focus on any of it because they now felt exhaustion starting to creep in their body and quickly laid back down on the ground, panting through their mask. ‘Oh… Thank… goodness…’ they thought.
Randy, just like the new ninja, also felt relief that it was all finally over. However, his eyes immediately locked on to the mysterious mist that had left Ellie just now and was leaving the area.
It was pink, with a little bit of cyan. To the tall guy, it looked familiar. TOO familiar, in fact. He knew exactly what it was. He has seen it before quite a few times back in 9th grade. but he never had expected to actually see it again after the few years that had passed.
“It can’t be…”
He mumbled to himself, his eyes wide as they stared at the mist till it was gone from his sight.
He didn’t know where it was coming from now and how.. but it gave him a very bad feeling.
,,,,,,,,,
While happy cheers happened out there on the mortal realm, angry yelling was now heard in the shadow realm from none other than the sorceress herself, who looked so pissed off at the fact that her first stanked monster this year had failed, all having been seen from the stank screen.
“NO!!! She was so CLOSE to killing that wretched ninja! SO CLOOOSE!! ARRRGHH!!”
Kurai on the other hand, who had also seen the monster's loss on screen, seemed to also be a bit annoyed by the result but not as much as his ally. He looked over at the sorceress who was practically throwing a little tantrum, his lips then slowly curling up into a small smile.
“Now, now. Miss Sorceress, don’t be so down..” he started speaking, floating closer to her and putting a hand on her shoulder. “You may have lost now… but it’s not over yet.”
“Huh?” The creepy woman looked back at her floating ally.
“Your sweet little monster’s rampage had succeeded in getting the ninja to come out, that's a good start.” Kurai said. “And at least your stank still works perfectly even after a few years have passed, that’s good too.”
The sorceress only seemed a little confused by what this being was going on about, watching as he floated away from her and over to the other side of the big rock they were still on.
“What I’m saying is that it is too early to admit defeat! the ninja hasn’t won. Not yet. ‘He’ doesn’t even know where the stank came from this time! We still have LOTS of time for more monster making this year and so on! This first failure is nothing!”
Kurai looked back at the woman, his smile getting bigger.
“Besides, we also have those two humans by our side and they shall help us now that we have a deal with them…”
His body fully turned around towards her direction, one of his hands held out to the stank screen.
“Remember, this is only the beginning.”
He wasn’t wrong, the sorceress knew that. She shouldn't be losing her temper already at one single loss. It’s just like Kurai said, they still have a lot of time for their schemes from the land of shadows.
He wouldn’t want her to act like this.
“Right… speaking of those humans, I would like to check on them again. I wanna see if they have gone to fix those poor holograms of theirs or made something new to help us communicate better just like I had asked them to yesterday.”
“Alright! if that’s what you want, Miss Sorceress. Surely they must have done it by now!”
Kurai went back to the stank screen, preparing to try getting contact with their human allies from the other side again very soon. Though before he even started actually doing that, his eyes narrowed at the ‘ninja’ on the screen.
“The ‘ninja’, huh?” He mumbled quietly under his breath, seeming to find the new appearance of the so-called ‘hero’.. suspicious.
“Heh… I’m looking forward to seeing how you’ll do in the future. Along with getting to know you better… personally.”

Nobu, who was still tired after that long battle but now no longer letting out heavy breaths, tried slowly and carefully to sit back up on the ground. Their body still ached a little from the injuries they had, though they thankfully weren’t bleeding anywhere.
They do hope that this ‘magical’ ninja suit at least have some kind of healing factor or something, cause they REALLY need it right now.
“Man… That was… the most exhausting thing… I have ever done.. in my life!..”
The new ninja glanced down at the katana next to them, taking it in their hand again. “This weapon really helped me today… oh, uh.. I should probably get up and lea-“
Just before they got to even finish speaking, they heard tons of little footsteps coming over in their direction. Both that and some voices calling out their name.
Well, actually. their ‘hero’s name. Not theirs.
“Ninja!!”
The little ninja looked up with a surprised and confused expression, seeing all the students going over to them at full speed. “H-huh!? Why are all these people coming over here-“
Before they knew it, they were surrounded by the big crowd, everyone standing around them in a big circle. The short guy froze right on the spot in the middle of it, hearing so many people speaking at the same time.
“That was a crazy fight today, Ninja!!”
“Hey.. now I’m getting a closer look, have you shrunken a little today or something??”
“You made a big mess in our school today, man!”
“Jeez, you’re all messed up!”
Nobu didn’t say a word, just standing there like a statue as all the students kept on talking and talking nonstop.
So many voices, TOO many voices. They were SO loud. So many eyes were on them again but this time, they all stared even harder at them, almost feeling like they were all staring right deep into their soul, burning through their skin. Every single person around the circle was also practically so close that everything felt too cramped, barely any space for the little guy.
It was like they were being judged.
At this point, Nobu could no longer stand still, their entire body starting to tremble a little. They were aware of how popular the ninja was but this? This was way too much, too much attention that they could barely handle. It made them feel so small.
‘Look at what you have done.’
The short guy heard a familiar voice in their head they knew all too well, their own. Their own bad thoughts that already started taking over their entire mind, only increasing this coming up cold feeling of dread that was slowly creeping up inside them.
‘You have made a fool of yourself out there and everybody SAW. You had one job and you already failed so horribly.’
Nobu’s pupils widened, their head lowering down as they gripped the handle of the katana tight and held it close to their chest. “N-no….”
‘Don’t even try to deny it, you know it’s true. Not only are you bad at being a good student and friend but you can’t even handle being a hero for one day? You pretty much just embarrassed this town's Ninja by being such a dumb klutz with such poor skills, now EVERYONE will truly think that ‘the Ninja’ has lost his spark and it will be all of YOUR fault.’
“No…no…no…no!..”
They kept whispering over and over to themselves, trying so hard to ignore what the voice was saying.. but it was no use. No matter how much they repeated that one word, those terrible thoughts kept on coming.
‘EMBARRASSMENT. EMBARRASSMENT. EMBARRASSMENT. EMBARRASSMENT.’
It was all so loud and repetitive that they could barely hear the voices of the students around them anymore, they felt the cold and dreadful feeling only get bigger and bigger and BIGGER. Their heart started beating fast, thumping against their now heaving chest. Their eyes not being able to focus, tears already forming.
“No… I-i.. I d-didn’t even want t-this, I-i-“
Their eyes shut tight, almost letting out a weak sniffle as tears were already beginning to run down their cheeks. This was too much, too overwhelming.
“I can’t do it. I-I can’t!.. I can’t.. I… c-can’t…!!”
They could feel one of their hands start frantically moving around their ninja suit, searching for something in a haste. Finally, they pulled out the familiar and first ball they had used before.
Lifting it up in the air, they shouted:
“SMOKEBOMB!!!”
And threw it right on the ground, immediately releasing the puffs of smoke that enveloped their entire form, hiding it from the crowd that started backing away due to the unexpectedness of it along with its awful smell. When all the smoke was gone, the little ninja was nowhere to be seen, completely out of everyone’s sight.
Every student was both surprised and confused by that sudden smokebombing, looking around and at each other as words spread around them once more.
“Woah! That was so quick!”
“Why did he just smoke bomb like that?”
“He didn’t even answer my question about his height!”
All chatted, except for Randy. The tall boy had gotten to see everything that just happened from where he was standing, his eyes a bit widened. He could have sworn the new ninja was literally starting to cry just before the smoke bomb was thrown, how they were shaking like an injured little animal. It made him feel even more bad for them.
‘Poor new ninja…’ he thought, frowning. But then, his eyebrows furrowed.
He still didn’t understand how this new guy could exist while he still had the original mask with him, that part was still very suspicious to him. But there was something about their battle today that showed how unprepared they were, it reminded of himself back at his own first day as the ninja..
Well, expect that his first enemy was a robot. Theirs was a stanked monster, one he thought he would never have to see again after the events in the past.
Still, seeing that sad and scared look on that new ninja's face had a grip on his heart.
That’s it, he couldn’t take it anymore.
He needed answers.
From the big crack on the wall outside of the school came out one more student, that being none other than Howard himself. Panting hard, he ran over as quickly as he could to the crowd, noticing bits of spiky hair somewhere in there that he knew too well.
“Cunningham!!..” Once he ran over there, he finally stopped and took a moment to breathe. His hands were on his knees, his head down low. “Ugh, I hate running till this day.. A-Anyway, I couldn’t find Nobu in the restroom! I checked every stall and all of them were empty! I don’t know where they went, I don’t even know if they’re anywhere else in the school either!”
He slowly lifted up his head. “By the way, how much did I miss?? Did that new ninja win-“
He paused his words the moment he looked up, only to see that his best friend was nowhere to be seen. Not here, not there, not everywhere.
“Cunningham??” Howard’s head turned around, his eyes glancing around the crowd but he still couldn’t see the tall guy anywhere. “CUNNINGHAM!?”
‘First Nobu and now him!? WHERE DID THEY BOTH GO!?’
,,,,,,,,,
The rest of Norrisville was at peace, not a single sound…. All except for the quiet, weak little cries of a certain little ninja sitting on top of a random building.
After having used the smoke bomb, Nobu had ran far away from the school without thinking twice, just to avoid all the unwanted and overwhelming attention they were getting earlier. They had NO idea where they had ended up in the town, probably got lost by accident but they could not care about any of that right now.
Their face were hidden by their hands, the sounds of weak and broken sobs coming out from them. Their legs were pressed up against them in their sitting position, their elbows resting on their knees. They could feel a bit of moving and ‘beeping’ from the book, the Nomicon which was in their suit, against them but they didn’t even look to see what it wanted to tell them.
They didn’t want to.
“I can’t do this…” the lil guy whimpered, muffled by their palms. “I can’t do this at all.. it’s too much… too much!!..”
They continued to just sit there and cry, all alone with no one to comfort them…
“Hey!.. Are you okay?…”
Nobu’s whole body froze the second they heard that voice, it came from behind them. Not only did they hear someone, they also felt a hand get placed on their shoulder.
Their eyes glanced down at the said hand, noticing how it was all covered in black and had few red stripes around its wrist… it looked just like theirs!
They quickly turned their head around, wondering who in the world was this person behind them and how did they even manage to find them-
The little ninja’s eyes widened as big as dinner plates the moment they saw who it was.
And it was someone in a whole black suit with few red markings, a red scarf.. wait.
It was Another.. Ninja like them!?
This taller ninja seemed worried, sitting down on one knee and not letting go of their shoulder just yet.
“You seemed very stressed out there after the battle..”
Nobu didn’t say anything at first, completely speechless by the sight of him. Before they finally muttered out:
“….y-y-you- !!”
