The new "World Social Report 2024" from the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) illustrates how shocks hit the most vulnerable people and societies the hardest, with both short- and long-term impacts on social development. This session, held on the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, will feature conversations with experts and people with lived experience of poverty to showcase ways to ensure transformations at the necessary scale and speed to improve lives.

ARE YOU FACING RESISTANCE CROSSING OVER? THIS IS YOUR BREAKER MONTH NOT YOUR BREAKING! Nate Johnston I have a word specifically for those who have come into 2020 feeling intense resistance and still needing some major things to shift and move into position, for doors to open, and for breakthrough to come especially in 11th-hour situations.

The account name is different and the picture is too. It was time to leave those curves behind. The avatar and accompanying images are a work in progress. The feedback hasn't been overwhelmingly positive, so I'll work on something more appropriate. Have a wonderful weekend!
Thank you for the new follows and the reblogs. It’s nice to know you are enjoying some of the treasure I find here on tumblr.

Changes in Visual Arts Alberta - CARFAC
From our newsletter: "Visual Arts Alberta – CARFAC has been enrolled in an adaptive change program called New Pathways, sponsored by the Edmonton Arts Council, Alberta Foundation for the Arts, and the Edmonton Community Foundation. One of the reasons we enrolled in this program was to develop strategies to modify programs to better meet the needs of all of our diverse stakeholders. One outcome of the organizational analysis prompted by the New Pathways work is that Visual Arts Alberta – CARFAC will be altering our gallery program effective December 2015. Essentially, we will no longer be operating our galleries based on the Artist-Run Centre model as we have done until now. We are disappointed by this change, but feel it is a vital and necessary step in the organization’s development, and appreciate that this news may be disappointing to some of our membership. In examining all of our programs and services, the Visual Arts Alberta - CARFAC board determined that we could no longer spend a significant amount of our programming dollars and time on a small gallery program that primarily benefitted only the Capital Region of Alberta. As an Arts Service Organization with both a Province-wide mandate and very limited resources, we needed to realign our spending toward programs that serve more artists in all the regions of Alberta. (Please note that the funding from our main provincial grant has decreased by over 30% in the past five years – so we are expected to do more with less every year). Visual Arts Alberta – CARFAC will continue to program the gallery spaces with members’ exhibitions, professional development and mentorship opportunities, with sales and promotional materials and other events of interest and benefit to Alberta artists and the community at large. Visual Arts Alberta – CARFAC will significantly increase the presentation of programming that will help artists grow their art careers in all parts of Alberta. We value input from our membership. If you have ideas as how we can better serve your needs, we want to hear from you. If you have ideas as to how we can generate more income, please do not hesitate to get in touch. If you have ideas for how we can use our gallery to advance your career as an artist, contact us by email or give us a telephone call to 1.866.421.1731 (or 780.421.1731 in the Edmonton calling area). Let’s talk…"
