Summary: Steve Rogers' long lost sibling kidnaps Bucky.
TW/CW: A few swear words, but other than that not really anything, just kinda angsty.

A/N: Hello! I interupt your regularly scheduled programming for a new imagine I just came up with! Not quite sure what I want to do with this one. Might turn it into another series, might not. Lmk what you think! P.S. yes this implies that there would have to be an American branch of HYDRA. I just couldn't think of any other bad guys that would fit the plot.
[Shock and awe my dudes.]
Your POV
The Avengers all stand in a circle around their newest threat, me. Holding a gun to Bucky's head, I brush my messy hair out of my face. Bucky is strapped down to the contraption that HYDRA used to wipe his memory all those moons ago.
"What exactly is your goal here?" comes a voice from within Iron Man.
"Oh, nothing just a simple chat with little brother," I grin.
"What the hell does little brother mean?" growls Natasha, "Bucky had no older siblings."
"No but he did," I say while gesturing towards Captain America.
This must be the moment when Hawkeye finally finds his chance to shoot from the rafters above, because an arrow shoots through my shoulder, the force of it not only distracting me but pushing me forward as well. Natasha moves to capture me and makes me drop my gun, as Cap swiftly releases Bucky from the machine. Cap looks to me, as does Bucky.
"I thought you were gone," they mumble in unison.
A short while later, everyone has made it onto the quin jet. The plan is to take me back to the compound for interrogation. By all technicalities, I had only broken two laws, breaking and entering the compound and kidnapping Bucky. Both of these Cap and Bucky brush off because they know me.
Once back at the compound, I’m put in a glass walled cell and they all gather around to begin the questioning. The interrogation is more for formality; Tony wants to know how I managed to break into the compound, go undetected, kidnap a super soldier who rarely even sleeps, and make it back out still undetected. This is his opening, and only question. Then he intends to hand it over to Steve and Bucky.
"Alright feisty, tell me how the hell you made it into this secure compound, kidnapped Robocop, and then made it back out," he demands casually.
Without missing a beat, I respond, "Enhanced hearing, sight, and strength. Also, a little chloroform, but that's not that difficult to get your hands on these days."
A surprised silence follows and is only broken a few moments later when Steve asks, "What do you mean enhanced hearing, sight, and strength?"
"Enhanced, past form of enhance, a verb meaning to intensify, increase, or further improve the quality, value, or extent of,” I smart off.
"You know that's not what I meant," he glares, annoyance clear on his face, "I mean how did you get it."
I laugh darkly, "You really think that punk was HYDRA's first experiment?" I jerk my head towards Bucky, never breaking eye contact with Steve.
"Judging by how you ask that question I'm gonna say not anymore," Tony says with his usual concoction of sarcasm and wit.
"Please, by the time I reached a dozen credited assassinations, he was still chasing skirts. Enlisting in the military wasn't even a thought in his mind at that point," I spit bitterly.
Natasha steps forward, "How the hell do you know so much about these two?"
"Didn't you hear me earlier, Ginger? Stevie is my little brother. I know so much about them because I was there on the days they were born. Granted I was only two," I reply, unbothered by Natasha's venomous tone. "You know, the history books, the museum, they don't even mention me. No, they mention mom and dad and Stevie and James and all the other Howling Commandos, but not me. It's almost as if everyone forgot about me. Of course, nobody ever looked for me so I guess they did," I drop my head and scuff my foot on the floor.
"That's not true," Steve says, his voice stern, "Buck looked for you for weeks. Every night he snuck out his window, went to the woods where you disappeared, and searched. He refused to give up. Only when he got caught by the police one night did he stop," Steve looks over at Bucky before hesitantly continuing his thoughts, "He blamed himself. Losing you hit him the hardest of all of us."
I look up at Bucky. Bucky and I were very close back then. I'd never speak it aloud but I loved him, still do. He was my first kiss. He was the one I went to when I was scared. He was my best friend. I begin to realize how much I've missed him and that's when I break down.
I had avoided eye contact with him for so long. I'd made it this far but Steve's words threw a wrench in my gut that just wouldn't go away this time. I sit down on the floor and for the first time in years, I let the tears leak down my cheeks.
Bucky moves to the door of the cell, but Tony steps in front of him, "Not a chance, bud."
Steve puts a hand on Tony's shoulder, "Please," I whisper through my tears, "Please let him in."
Tony steps away and Bucky opens the door. He walks over to me and drops to the floor beside me.
As he wraps his arms around me, he mutters soft words of comfort such as, "It's ok, y/n. I'm here," and, "Cry all you need. I've got you."
The team looks on in shock and Steve decides it's time to usher them out the other door to give us some privacy.
I'm writing this book, like an actual book (it's not related to Far Cry or any fandoms, just so my current followers know) and I've written about ten chapters so far. I've tried to go through on my own to revise those ten chapters so far, but it's been a little difficult. I'm looking for beta readers who would like to read through these first ten chapters. It's written in English and it's only 103 pages as of now.
I know I am falling for the typical hubris of newbie authors who think they can design a book cover. But honestly? Whatever I come up with won't be that bad.
I did the research, compiled inspiration, and at least I can hopefully get it closer to my tastes than the premades.

“I have lost the plot babe,” I say to myself, as I have quite literally lost the plot of my book.
There I was, making a bullet point doc with plot details, and then as the story evolved - and I got better at telling it - it took a turn. So much so, that it became suffocating instead of freeing, to have plot points telling you where to go. As I was telling the story that evolved in front of me instead of the one that I pre-planed, I realized that I like it a lot more.
It became overwhelming.
The unknown, the ideas on how to make it known, the middle of the night wakings with bright and fresh and funny scenes, felt like learning to ride a bike for the first time. Unsteady and shaky, but as the wind swept through my hair and kissed my face as i became more confident and gained speed, the more I enjoyed, the more exhilarating it became.
Eventually I trusted my self with the balance of the bike, I trusted in my muscles to keep taut as I drove further and further up the path.
The scenes of my story felt like an overwhelming attack at first. I started writing because the story attacked me and it was scary and difficult to have to overcome writing block and fatigue and to fight to find a coherent plot.
But as the story went on, not unlike you g me on that silly pink bike, eventually I trusted myself to keep going.
“Oooh,” i whispered as it all came together, “I found the plot!”
Who would have thought that something so simple could change my life forever.
It was the year 201X. Apparently monsters aren't just from fairy tales. They're real. I'm actually friends with one on some game online. She calls herself MewMewLoverXOXO. Apparently she's like a scientist inventor, but I had no proof of it at the time. One day on Discord she said she wanted to send me one of her latest inventions. She was making it obvious that something was up. In the chat she was implying she was struggling not to laugh. I reluctantly gave her my address and a day later a large white dog monster arrived at my door with a package. He didn't speak, he just barked happily and panted. I awkwardly pet him and brought the package inside. It was... A toaster. What the hell? She sent me... A toaster. Is she trolling me? Huff. Might as well see if she modified it in any way. I plugged it in and put some wheat bread into it. I get a notification on my phone that states a foreign source has placed wheat_bread into my Dimensional Box A. Did she seriously give me a toaster that sends crap to my Dimensional Box? Bruh. That is ridiculous. I decided to keep the strange toaster, but ensured I unplugged it so if I had guests over, they couldn't sneak random crap into my Box.
The stories will have to wait some time. I spent an hour and a half on one earlier, only to get an "oops Tumblr broke" that deleted said hour and a half of effort. It was really disheartening. I'm gonna take a nap, and may consider trying again later.
