5. A lyric that’s meaningful to you?

I’ve always loved Owl City’s “Honey and the Bee,” especially the one line that says “I’m a chickadee in love with the sky.” It reminds me how much I have to be happy about, and that there’s so much good in my life.

9. Tell me something you’re proud to have done, no matter how small

I’m really proud of myself for getting past so many of the prejudices I was raised with. I’m still working on a lot of them, but I’ve made progress (especially on the homophobia/transphobia side), and I’m trying to be better about admitting to my shortcomings and listening to minority folks when they talk about uncomfortable things.

13. Your favourite book?

L.M. Montgomery’s The Blue Castle, hands down, no contest. I read the main character as aro-ace, even though she wasn’t intended to be. The way she experiences romance is very similar to me. Plus, it’s chock full of sweet moments and fun adventures and overthrowing of the patriarchy and gorgeous descriptions of Canadian wilderness. I’d be happy to lend my copy to anyone who wants to read it.
