#missedconnections -- from Paris to Newsbar (Greenwich Village)
You wandered in as though you were lost or had entered a different world, like Dorothy in Oz, or perhaps the young Marie Antoinette arriving in her adopted country. I was sitting in a far corner of the darkened cafe, but immediately noticed the soft light emanating from your white v-neck sweater fitted perfectly over a collared shirt of the palest blue -- nearly imperceptibly blue -- and crisp navy pants ending high at the ankle. The diagonal strap of light brown leather across your chest led to a perfectly proportioned satchel at your hip, completing the look with a touch of earth.
What is clear is that you are not from here -- no, you could not be. You reminded me of things long past.
I wish you un bon voyage -- good travels -- the kind of travels that will return to you forever, even on a day far into the future, when you are old and full of nostalgia, and you are looking back on your life and you think of this trip, among all the things in your life that once gave you pleasure, and now give it meaning.
