Hey! Are you new at A. M. P? It's a pretty big place so here's a map to avoid getting too lost on your first day!
When shape shifters shift is it more like when you're trying to hold the same position or when you change the shape of clay and it stays like that?
Not really. I think to explain it, you need to think of magic as an invisible ocean that eveyone in NeXus is wandering through.
The idea of shapeshifting in NeXus is kinda as Asteroth and Nik learn, it's giving into the idea that magic is an ever-permeating force that can change and warp everything, including people. In this sense, magic is like the sea, washing over people like tides on the beach or corroding metals to rust.
Shape shifters are taught to surrender to magic, not giving it resistance but direction. You're not trying to make magic do anything, you're just using transfiguration magic to "talk" to magic as a force how you'd like it to change you.
With the allegory in mind, you wouldn't be trying to swim in that ocean, you're choosing a spot and letting yourself float (you change). When you wanna stop floating, you stop and then decide to swim again (ie. you change back).
Shifters really are the ones who gotta deal with the active process of changing, but that's a different story altogether.
The fun thing about Bardic muses in the NeXus universe is that they work exactly like a character in a musical who alters reality every time they sing. If NeXus was a musical, those mfers would be the most powerful people in that world.
Like let me just sit you down and explain the concept. Bardic muses get to use their magic through being the loudest in the room. If they can be heard then their magic can form, the longer they're allowed to perform or speak for, the stronger their magic gets.
If you let a bardic muse speak uninterrupted then they can use their magic, if you let them keep talking then they will fuck you up. IF YOU LET THEM SING A MUSICAL NUMBER? PRAY YOU ARE NOT THE TARGET THEY'RE AFTER. Pray that you are not alone in a room with a bardic muse who has enchanted speakers rigged in there.
The worst part is that they will get down to cupcakke and fuck you up at the same time, and that's lowkey iconic actually. But like imagine the shenanigans of an oldschool disney villain, but all the shit they make happen can actually kill you--AND THEY'RE DANCING WHILE THEY BEAT YOUR ASS TOO
Hai :3
Is there a limit to how far Khaleed can use his crossroads?
Heyo!
The limit is that Khaleed has to be able to visualize or have been to said place to make a crossroad to a place. As he's blind, he's bound by spaces he's familiar with through his other senses.
Additionally, yes, he has a weird magical "sight" that aids his navigation, but that perception is limited to the flow of magic and he cannot percieve colour, texture or finer details without interacting with them otherwise.
So basically, if he knows a place, he can be there, if he doesn't then he can't make a crossroad there. The only exception to this is that he can't make crossroads to places that are oversaturated with alchemy as his magical perception can't percieve the raw and unstable nature of that element
Hi hi
Been curious ab how exactly Khaleed sees.

Ok hi, I was gonna draw you an example but I am actually not going to do that because that's a lot of work so I'll do the next best thing!
It's like a combination of the Byakugan from Naruto and those constellation creatures from the animated Sinbad movie, Here's some visual examples I could find
He percieves people as interconnected lines and stars that make up a whole image. One day I'll make a portrait of someone in his eyes but for now, this is what I got for ya!
I just found you and your YouTube channel today so I'm going on a spamming spree for all the lore I can find on here so I apologise for all the notifications 🥲 I really love your art and your voice !!
no problem at all hon, I'll let you work your way through the lore but here's some lore as a treat for you:
In NeXus, some characters are named after deities not because they are those actual deities but because in their world, they are the closest embodiment to them. Adonis says that he used to be known as Baron La Croix (a loa from Voudou), but he himself is not actually that spirit.
Typically people are given these names by those in authority as a status symbol to denote their exceptionalism in magic. If you've been paying attention then you'll also know that Asteroth is named similarly to Astaroth, a great duke of Hell and one known for his abilities of foresight and strategy. This name was given to him by his grandfather Asteroth Sinclair Senior.
That's all, happy lore hunting!
wait if peter was a hunter how is he also a priest?
ooooh fun time to answer, so first of all, hi!
Second of all, Hunters are funded by the churches and every hunter who is indoctrinated is actually given a religious cover to help hide them blend in amidst the public. As such most hunters are actually very religiously knowledgeable in different sects of christianity and thus recieve an education in religious studies and martial training to discipline them.
Peter happens to both be a priest as a cover while hunting alongside his religious duties. It's actually standard practice that most hunters' uniforms are based on some kind of priest-like robe and is modified based on tastes and practicality, meanwhile controllers are given more free range to dress how they want to be less noticeable than hunters to those that know how to see a hunter coming.
In Nexus there's an another dimension with a planet that's star is dying so the planet is freezing and every 5 years or so the nexus is sent by the Celestials to revive the star for another 5 years and it's a big festival that they hold in the nexus's honor (in good part due to the selfishness of the previous nexus) but the thing is that the Celestials just kinda drop the nexus wherever so a strange creature (cause the planet is not inhabited by humans) who does not speak their language is found and you might wonder how they know that this is the one who has come to help them, and the answer is that Arely, in trying to explain as best she could with the language barrier, said "I was sent" which is precisely what the Nexus before her said centuries before when he arrived, saying "I was sent, I was sent."
The people of this planet call these humans "the sent" and nothing more.
